CHAPTER 98: NAN ZHI: I TRUST YOU RUAN CHANCHAN

When the two of them arrived at the tribe, Nan Zhi came running. He looked rather anxious. From the looks of it, he must have been waiting for the two of them for a long time.

"Chanchan, my sister’s temperature has gone down. But she is still not awake—a while ago, she did wake up a little, but then she complained about feeling really tired and then fainted right away. What is going on? What should we do now?"

Ruan Chanchan jumped off the bear’s back nimbly. She pointed at the berries that Xie Daiyu was carrying in his mouth and said to the mer, "Calm down a little. We have found the herbs that will help your sister get better."

She took the berries from Xie Daiyu, who transformed into his human form and chased after Ruan Chanchan, who was running to the Nan family cave. However, just as she arrived at the base of the cave dwelling, Xie Daiyu placed his hand on the back of her waist. When Ruan Chanchan raised her head, the mer simply told her, "It will be better if I take you. It will be much faster."

Ruan Chanchan pursed her lips but didn’t refuse, but as the mer brought her to his arms, her face turned as red as a cooked lobster. Ruan Chanchan kept telling herself that she was only doing this because she wanted to get closer to Xie Daiyu. What was more, Xie Daiyu was only helping her out because he was worried about Nan Wu, a fellow tribeswoman. There was no need for her to overthink!

Xie Daiyu glanced at the woman in his arms and curled his lips. If not for the fact that he was worried about Nan Wu’s condition, he would have taken his sweet time to arrive at the Nan Family cave.

Nan Wu: "..." Thank you.

The two of them arrived at the cave where the Nan family lived.

When Father Nan saw Ruan Chanchan, his eyes lit up. He scrambled to his feet and said to Ruan Chanchan, "Chanchan, can you take a look at my daughter? I didn’t dare touch her wound. But she still complained about feeling tired and sick. Can you see what is going on with her?"

Xie Daiyu unhurriedly put Ruan Chanchan down on the floor of the cave.

Ruan Chanchan handed him two berries and said to him, "Go and wash them with boiled water."

Xie Daiyu took the blood berries from Ruan Chanchan and didn’t feel the slightest bit affronted, even though everyone turned and looked at Ruan Chanchan as if she had committed some kind of grave offence. After all, Xie Daiyu was not just their usual mer who could be commanded by Ruan Chanchan. But what they didn’t know was that Xie Daiyu was willing to be ordered by Ruan Chanchan. He looked at the berries and a satisfied expression was etched on his face. After all, Ruan Chanchan ordering him was similar to a wife telling her husband to do stuff for her.

He was very happy with it!

Humming softly, he turned around and walked out of the cave, looking quite pleased with Ruan Chanchan ordering him around.

Nan Zhi and the entire Nan family: "..." What...what is the meaning of this?

Ruan Chanchan turned to look at the Nan family and asked, "Why are you looking outside? Come and wipe her body with cold water. This way, we can bring down her temperature faster."

Nan Zhi immediately dropped his curiosity and returned his attention to his sister. He picked up the clean rag that Ruan Chanchan had given him earlier and started wiping the sweat off his sister’s body. His eyes were red as rabbits with worries, and Ruan Chanchan couldn’t help but comfort him softly, "Don’t worry. I promise that your sister will be alright."

Nan Zhi nodded. "I trust you, Chanchan."

However, the second he looked down and took a look at his sister’s pale face, his heart couldn’t help but clench. Tears trickled down his face as he wiped his sister’s face carefully.

"Don’t cry; if your tears end up infecting her wound, then it will become even more troublesome," said Ruan Chanchan when she saw that the mer was crying. She felt her head throb when she saw the mer and didn’t know how to calm him down. She could only make use of Nan Wu’s health and make the mer stop crying.

Nan Zhi immediately stopped crying. He looked at his sister, whose pallor was already paler than before and immediately said, "Okay, I will not cry. I need to take care of my sister. I need to see her get better."

Ruan Chanchan felt like crying when she heard his choking words. She wanted to tell him that Nan Wu would be fine and that she would be back on her feet very soon, but Ruan Chanchan knew that unless the woman got better, her words would sound like nothing but lies. She turned her head to the side and wiped the tears off.

On the other side, Ah Man, who had been unconscious for many days, slowly opened her eyes. After waking up once, she had closed her eyes again and if not for her falling and rising chest, Nuan Nuan would have thought that his wife was dead. Seeing that his wife had opened her eyes, Nuan Nuan placed the baby on the leaves at the corner of the cave and then scrambled over. "Wife! Are you alright?" Nuan Nuan asked as he looked at his wife, who was looking around in confusion.

"Nuan Nuan? "What’s going on?" Ah Man asked with some confusion in her eyes. She remembered seeing her tribe members and after that—she didn’t recall anything.

"Wife, it’s a good thing that you are awake... wuuu... I was so scared these days." Nuan Nuan threw himself at Ah Man, who let out a wince, causing the mer to pull away and look at her sheepishly. "I am sorry..."
