CHAPTER 156: CHAPTER 156: DRUGGED

Caleb Sinclair’s face remained somber the entire way home, and it didn’t fully lighten upon arriving.

Sienna Monroe had returned earlier than him and had already changed outfits. She was just about to head to the kitchen when she turned around and saw his gloomy face.

She couldn’t help but furrow her brows, then pulled out a faint smile, "You’re back."

Caleb’s eyes flickered slightly.

Perhaps it was the four-second video that haunted him; now whenever he saw Sienna’s face, he couldn’t help but recall the scene of Sebastian Prescott bending down to kiss her.

He was very displeased, very resistant.

He also tried to expel the image from the video out of his mind.

But with little success.

In a few breaths, he seemed to have pondered something, walked up to her, and handed her a gift box.

"I ordered this a couple of days ago; see if you like it."

Sienna was taken aback, opened the box, and inside lay a quietly elegant bracelet made of gold and Hetian jade.

Simple yet classy.

She smiled slightly, "I like it, it’s very beautiful."

"Good that you like it."

Caleb softly replied, not sounding particularly enthusiastic.

Sienna couldn’t ignore it even if she wanted to, so she had to ask, "What’s wrong with you today? Trouble at work?"

Caleb shook his head and sighed, "I ran into someone after work."

Someone?

Sienna asked suspiciously, "Who?"

"Joy Prescott." Caleb raised his gaze, looking directly at her through his glasses, "Sebastian’s fraternal twin sister; you must have heard of her, right?"

Joy Prescott?!

Sienna was completely unaware of what had happened about an hour ago.

She was very surprised.

She never expected Joy would directly seek out Caleb.

Although she had only met Joy once, she had a rough understanding of her character.

She’s carefree and straightforward by nature.

Given that she went to the construction company to confront Caleb, it’s bound to have been quite a scene.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t there.

Caleb didn’t miss the hint of surprise on her face, his voice still gentle, "Do you know her?"

Another probing question.

Whenever he becomes suspicious, he never asks directly and openly.

Instead, he’s persistently probing.

Sienna only felt annoyed and tried to suppress her thoughts, quietly contemplating his intention behind probing for a few seconds, then fearlessly met his gaze.

"Not really, only met her once." She looked puzzled, "But... why did she suddenly come to you? Is there something wrong?"

Caleb tightened his grip on the chopsticks, looking somewhat helpless, "She somehow found out and said the report about The Prescott Family secrets this morning was arranged by me.

I have no interaction with The Prescott Family, and I’ve only met Sebastian a few times. Even if I have some disdain for him, there’s no need to go this far. Honey, do you trust me?"

Sienna displayed just the right amount of shock and disbelief on her face, "Ah, how could this happen? Is it a misunderstanding? Or... is someone messing with things? How could you do something like that?"

Seeing her reaction, Caleb felt slightly more at ease, but the shadow over him did not disappear.

He shook his head, "Forget it, I have nothing to fear if I’m innocent, they’ll eventually find out it’s not me."

Finally, he sighed and seemed to recall, asking, "Hey, honey, when did you say you met Joy?"

Sienna sneered inwardly.

Suddenly, a memory from a rainy night in Westwood emerged in her mind.

Fog swirled among the mountains, the night descended, silence enveloped the car, with nothing but the sound of torrential rain hitting the windows and windshield.

She lowered her gaze, pulling her lips into a smile, "Do you remember the time Vivian Nash bought me a cup of tea with chemicals in it?"

Caleb paused, his throat involuntarily tightened.

His face flushed with embarrassment and helplessness.

Recalling his past with Vivian mentioned by Sienna was akin to a sharp blade poised to execute him, stabbing at his heart precisely.

Of course, he remembers.

He also remembers that day she returned particularly late, with Sebastian driving her home.

"Was it Sebastian who introduced you?"

Sienna glanced at the hesitation in his eyes, lightly shook her head, "It was a coincidence to run into him at the research center, that’s when I learned about Joy’s identity."

She spoke sincerely, without any suspicious behavior.

Yet... Caleb still felt she was lying, deceiving him.

How could it be that coincidental?

Especially with Sebastian and his sibling.

Could it be... that she and Sebastian had already been involved back then?

Checking the fruit tea was merely a cover, while Sebastian took her to meet his sister?

Had it already reached the stage of meeting the family?

Once this thought emerged, it clung tightly to Caleb’s heart like countless vines.

His breathing grew labored.

When did all this begin?

Trapped in his self-created virtual world, he struggled to find a way out.

After dinner, Sienna received a call from Director Dawson, went to the study to open emails and check work.

Caleb didn’t rush upstairs but headed to the kitchen, "Did Sienna have bird’s nest today?"

"She did." Auntie Miller replied with a smile, "But judging by her expression, the young mistress might have grown a bit tired of it, so I’m planning to prepare nourishing red date and white fungus soup for her to try tomorrow."

Caleb nodded briefly without saying much, took fresh milk from the refrigerator, heated it for three minutes in the microwave, and then took it to the small study upstairs.

He tapped lightly on the door, "Honey, it’s me."

Then he pressed down on the door handle and walked in, seeing Sienna sitting at the desk.

Sienna asked with a smile, "Why are you here?"

"I made you some warm milk to help you sleep better tonight." Caleb walked over, placing the milk on the table, "What are you busy with?"

"Materials from the National Arts Association." Sienna glanced at the cup of milk and smiled, "Thank you, you’ve also had a long day, go take a shower quickly."

Caleb glanced at her computer, confirming it’s indeed work-related, then replied with a "Okay."

He pushed the milk toward her, "Remember to drink it while it’s hot; cold milk might upset your stomach."

"Mm, understood."

Caleb closed the study door, and the next moment, the quiet room echoed with a crisp and pleasant message alert sound.

Ding!

Sienna’s hand holding the mouse paused, took her phone, and facially unlocked it to read the message.

[Danger! Don’t drink that milk! Caleb Sinclair spiked it with Zyprexa, mostly used for severe depression patients.]
