CHAPTER 216: CHAPTER 214 YOU HATE IT

Under the warm light, a pale, haunting face appeared in Lin Xiao’s vision.

It was none other than Bai Chengfeng.

The piece of trash looked at Lin Xiao as if he were staring at his father’s killer, but Lin Xiao simply smiled.

"Yo, Young Master Bai, you’re not dead yet? That shouldn’t be. Your organs should be melting away as we speak. If I were you, I’d have already picked out a burial site with good feng shui."

Bai Chengfeng glared at Lin Xiao, the fury in his eyes threatening to devour him whole.

Lin Xiao was right. Bai Chengfeng’s internal organs were indeed melting. In fact, his doctors had strongly advised against him going out at all. He should have been in a hospital bed. But for some reason, he had a sudden craving for hot pot today, so he called a few friends and came over. He had always been capricious and never paid much mind to his doctor’s orders.

"You filthy beggar," Bai Chengfeng snarled, "I’m asking you for the last time. Are you going to give me the antidote or not?"

"How about this? Kneel and kowtow to me three times. If I’m in a good mood, maybe, just maybe, I’ll give you the antidote."

Bai Chengfeng was so furious his lungs felt like they would explode. A filthy beggar was actually daring to demand that he kneel and kowtow.

"You filthy beggar! Fine, I’ll remember what you said. And I’m not afraid to tell you, my big brother gets back tomorrow. Today is your last chance. Since you refuse to cherish it, don’t blame me for what happens next. I’m telling you right now, tomorrow you die!"

Lin Xiao shrugged with disdain. "So what if your big brother comes back? I’ll be blunt—you’re already beyond saving. Even if I gave you the antidote right now, you wouldn’t live."

BOOM!

Bai Chengfeng was instantly dumbstruck. He had always assumed the filthy beggar would obediently hand over the antidote once his big brother returned, so he hadn’t taken much action, simply waiting. He never, ever expected to hear something like this.

He didn’t want to die, and Bai Chengfeng was certainly no exception. He was still young, and the Bai Family was incredibly wealthy. He hadn’t enjoyed nearly enough of his life yet. But with a single sentence, Lin Xiao had pronounced his death sentence.

Bai Chengfeng panicked. He was utterly and completely panicked.

"You filthy beggar, give me the fucking antidote!" he roared, his eyes bloodshot like those of a cornered, rabid beast.

Lin Xiao looked down on him as if he were an ant. "Go home and get some sleep," he said with a cold laugh. "Maybe you can dream about it!"

From the moment this trash poisoned Su Qingning, his fate was sealed. If Lin Xiao hadn’t wanted to properly torment him and let him experience a living death, he would have slapped him into oblivion long ago instead of stooping to such a low-class method as poison.

"You filthy beggar, you’ll die a miserable death! When my big brother gets back tomorrow, I’ll make you pay in blood! I’ll make sure you die without a burial plot! And it won’t just be you! I’ll take care of that slut Su Qingning too!" Bai Chengfeng bellowed in a towering rage.

"Fine. We’ll see who dies without a burial plot tomorrow. Now, you can get the hell out of here!"

Bai Chengfeng shot Lin Xiao a vicious glare, his expression as resentful as a malevolent ghost, before storming off. Lin Xiao just shrugged disdainfully and turned to enter the restroom. To him, it didn’t matter what the piece of trash said or did; it would only hasten his demise.

When he returned to the private room, the food and drinks had all been served, and the three women were eating with great relish.

"Hurry up and eat, we were waiting for you!" Su Qingning said.

Lin Xiao smiled. "Honey, how is it?"

"Delicious! It’s really good!" Su Qingning replied, nodding repeatedly.

"If you like it, then eat more," Lin Xiao said with a smile.

Just as he sat down, Shao Mei’er placed a piece of freshly cooked meat into his bowl. She gave him a charming smile. "Lin Xiao, have a taste and tell me what you think. Maybe offer some valuable suggestions!"

"Sure, don’t mind if I do!" Lin Xiao dug in.

Su Qingning saw this and immediately felt a pang of discomfort. Perhaps Shao Mei’er meant well, simply wanting Lin Xiao to give his opinion on the flavor. But he was her husband, after all. Anyone in her position would feel a bit down. To be honest, she knew exactly what was happening to her. Why had she suddenly become so sensitive, so fearful of loss?

"How’s the taste?" Shao Mei’er asked, watching Lin Xiao with a nervous expression, as if his opinion was of the utmost importance.

"It’s so-so, I guess," Lin Xiao said with a smile. He wasn’t being arrogant. During his time in Kunlun, he had eaten hot pot that was countless times more delicious than this.

"Then what do you think needs to be improved?"

"Improved? It doesn’t need any. The flavor is just so-so to me, but for the average person, it’s already delicious!"

Shao Mei’er breathed a sigh of relief. With a coquettish smile, she nodded. "That’s good enough then!"

As they spoke, Chu Xiangxue also placed some freshly cooked Wagyu beef into Lin Xiao’s bowl. Lin Xiao accepted it.

Seeing this, Su Qingning felt an even tighter knot in her chest. She was really starting to regret coming to this meal.

But just then, Lin Xiao suddenly spoke up with a smile, "Alright, from now on, let’s all just eat our own food. Except for dishes my wife gives me, I won’t be eating anything anyone else serves me!"

Although he said it with a smile, his tone was unmistakably firm.

Su Qingning’s mood instantly brightened. She didn’t know why, but the heavy feeling in her chest simply vanished. She shot Lin Xiao a grateful glance and began to eat with renewed focus.

The meal ended quickly. When Su Qingning went to pay the bill, Shao Mei’er staunchly refused to let her. Su Qingning had to pretend to get angry before Shao Mei’er finally relented and let her pay.

On the drive back, watching the brilliant city lights stream past the car window, feeling the gentle evening breeze, and listening to the pleasant music on the radio, Su Qingning’s spirits soared. In truth, her mood had lifted the moment Lin Xiao refused the other women’s food.

"Well, well, honey, you seem to be in a good mood. Why don’t you share what’s making you so happy so I can be happy too?" Lin Xiao teased.

Su Qingning let out a haughty huff. "I’m not telling you, you big rascal!"

Lin Xiao laughed. "If you keep slandering me like that, I might have to become a real rascal!"

"You dare!" Su Qingning pouted.

"Want to try me?"

Annoyed, Su Qingning gave Lin Xiao a playful punch. "You rascal! You’re so annoying!"

Her soft, coquettish tone, combined with her stunningly gorgeous face and the shy blush that graced her cheeks, genuinely made Lin Xiao’s heart stir.

He couldn’t even imagine how devastatingly lethal she would be if she ever truly let loose and acted cute with him. He was actually quite looking forward to it. Of course, what Lin Xiao looked forward to even more was when he could finally roll in the sheets with this enchanting woman.
