He Ate a Divine Dragon
Chapter 27 The Bet
CHAPTER 27: CHAPTER 27 THE BET
"I say, stinky beggar, are you freaking kidding me? Do you have any idea that the cheapest villa here costs over one hundred million?"
"That expensive?" Lin Xiao asked, feigning surprise.
"Hmph! If you know it’s expensive, then scram! Stop embarrassing yourself here!"
"Brother-in-law, why don’t you take me inside so I can see the sights?" Lin Xiao said with a grin.
Su Qingkun wanted to refuse. It wasn’t just about showing Lin Xiao around; he didn’t even want to be seen standing next to the man. After all, he was a member of a second-tier family in Jinling City, while Lin Xiao was nothing but a stinky beggar.
But then, Su Qingkun had another thought. This Hidden Dragon Villa was developed by the Shao Family. The whole reason he came to buy a villa here today was to curry favor with Shao Mei’er. If he brought this stinky beggar along, it would be a perfect opportunity to show Shao Mei’er how he was a hundred times better than him. He refused to believe she would still favor this stinky beggar after that. Besides, Su Qingkun also wanted to find out why Shao Mei’er was so smitten with this guy. Bringing him along was the perfect chance to ask.
With this in mind, Su Qingkun snorted coldly. "Fine. If you’re not afraid of making a fool of yourself, then follow me!"
Lin Xiao nodded with a smile.
Su Qingkun walked up to the security guard and was about to speak when the guard flashed an obsequious smile. "Young Master Su, are you sure you want to bring this stinky beggar inside?"
"Cut the crap! I have my reasons!"
"Alright."
The security guard quickly opened the gate, and Su Qingkun strode inside.
As Lin Xiao passed the security guard, he smiled and asked, "How do you like working here?"
"What a stupid question. Of course, it’s freaking great," the security guard said disdainfully. Although he was just a security guard, Hidden Dragon Villa was the finest residential area in Jinling City. The pay here was far higher than at any average villa complex.
"How great?" Lin Xiao asked with a smile.
"None of your damn business."
Lin Xiao shrugged. "No worries. I just wanted to remind you to take a good look around this place before you get fired!"
"What? Fired? Who the hell do you think you are, you stinky beggar? You say I’m fired, and I’m fired?"
But Lin Xiao had already walked on.
From the outside, the villas already looked quite impressive. But once inside, Lin Xiao realized this place wasn’t just impressive—it was a paradise on earth. Forget how luxuriously they were built; the fact that he couldn’t feel the slightest bit of oppressive heat in the middle of summer was enough. For that reason alone, Lin Xiao felt the place was worth buying.
The enormous villa complex had only eighteen houses, each one a detached home. The smallest property occupied at least two thousand square meters, while the central one, known as the King Villa, boasted a staggering five thousand square meters.
As soon as they entered the sales office, a receptionist at the door greeted them respectfully, "Welcome!"
Su Qingkun didn’t even spare her a glance, strutting arrogantly inside.
Lin Xiao smiled at the receptionist, and she smiled back.
It was clear this wasn’t Su Qingkun’s first visit. The moment he stepped inside, a saleswoman with a curvaceous figure came up to greet them. "Mr. Su, long time no see."
Su Qingkun’s eyes quickly scanned her up and down. "Qian Qian," he said with a smirk, "it has been a while. How about it, has Number Eighteen been sold yet?"
Although villa number eighteen was the worst one in the entire complex, its price was still a steep one hundred million. The Su Family hadn’t wanted to buy it initially; it was simply too expensive. After all, the Su Corporation wasn’t doing too well these days, so holding on to such a large amount of cash was the prudent choice. However, the events of last night had made Su Qingkun’s father, Su Daonong, realize this was an opportunity to curry favor with the Shao Family. He had to make a move and show goodwill before Su Qingning fully latched onto the Shao Family’s coattails. So, gritting his teeth, Su Daonong made the decision.
"Someone else wanted to buy it, but I knew you’d definitely be interested, Mr. Su, so I saved it especially for you," the salesperson said with a beaming smile.
Su Qingkun nodded, quite pleased. "Then show me the contract!"
The salesperson’s smile grew even wider. "Mr. Su, please make yourself comfortable. I’ll go get the contract for you right away!"
While they were talking, Lin Xiao made his way over to the architectural model. He saw that two-thirds of the eighteen villas had already been sold. His gaze fell upon the model of the King Villa.
The King Villa was designed in the style of a traditional Chinese courtyard home. The model, though small, was exquisitely detailed, complete with pavilions, terraces, small bridges, and flowing water. To be honest, he really liked it. And better yet, it hadn’t been sold.
Staring at the model, Lin Xiao held out his hand, trying to gauge its size from a distance. Doing so would give him a rough idea of the actual villa’s layout. But his hand had barely moved forward, not even coming close to the model, when a sharp voice snapped, "Hey, you stinky beggar, stop! Who said you could touch the models? If you break it, can you afford to pay for it?"
Lin Xiao looked toward the voice. It was the salesperson, Qian Qian, who had been chatting with Su Qingkun. She was now glaring at him furiously.
Su Qingkun was also enraged. He stormed over to Lin Xiao. "I say, stinky beggar, do you have any idea how much this model costs? It’s easily worth hundreds of thousands! Can you fucking afford to pay if you break it?"
"Mr. Su, did you bring him?" the salesperson asked, her face etched with displeasure.
"Don’t ask. Just talking about it brings me bad luck."
The salesperson shot Lin Xiao a contemptuous look. "Mr. Su, you’re the young master of a second-tier family in Jinling City. Hanging around with a beggar like this is beneath you, don’t you think?"
Su Qingkun sneered. "Qian Qian, you may not know this, but this piece of trash is my brother-in-law!"
"What? He’s that beggar Su Qingning married?"
"The one and only!"
The salesperson’s gaze became even more disdainful.
Suppressing the urge to slap someone, Lin Xiao simply smiled. "What’s the problem? If I want to buy the house, can’t I even touch the model?"
The words had barely left his mouth.
BOOM!
Thunderous laughter erupted right next to Lin Xiao’s ears. He saw Su Qingkun and the salesperson doubled over, howling with mirth. The salesperson was laughing so hard that tears were streaming down her face.
"You stinky beggar, you’re going to be the death of me! Do you even know that villa is the King Villa of the entire complex? It costs one billion! A piece of trash like you could start saving from the time of the first emperor, not eating or drinking a thing, and you still wouldn’t be able to afford the toilet!"
The salesperson chimed in with a disdainful look. "Exactly! A beggar daring to say he’ll buy our King Villa? Where did you get that kind of nerve? Did Liang Jingru give it to you?"
Listening to the two of them mock him in unison, Lin Xiao just smiled. "What if I can afford it?"
Su Qingkun looked at Lin Xiao with utter contempt. "Fuck, if you can afford it, I’ll eat shit."
"Count me in," the salesperson said triumphantly.
Lin Xiao chuckled. "I’ve been alive a long time, but I’ve never seen people so eager to eat shit."
Su Qingkun instantly flushed with shame and anger. "Fuck! And what if you can’t afford it?"
"What do you propose?" Lin Xiao asked calmly.
Su Qingkun’s eyes darted around before he said with a malicious grin, "If you can’t afford it, you’ll lick my shoes and Qian Qian’s shoes clean!"
"Deal!" Lin Xiao said with a cold smile.
