There was no banquet including Awakeners in the Astral Empire that was a banquet without banquet games.

This had been a practice in the Astral Empire for several centuries and thousands of years.

In a gathering where the strong were respected, banquet games were mediums of cementing the prestige of the strong, and showcasing ones worth.

Banquets among Awakeners were not just moments where Awakeners met to dine and socialize.

There was an unspoken reason, or motivation behind every banquet, no matter the primary reason behind it.

It was to establish or reinforce hierarchy.

And that was through a demonstration of strength.

Ross Kadmen’s eyes gleamed as he spoke.

Everyone, apart from Kailen Darkhaven’s clique thought that he was still a rank beginner stage ascendant level lifeform, or even if he had increased in strength during the time spent in the energy vault, it wouldn’t be that much of a significant increase.

But they were wrong.

His master, Master Concima, a rank 7 supreme stage galactic level lifeform, and a member of the low tier civilisations branch of the Universe Alliance, had informed him of one certainty, Kailen Darkhaven was a rank 5 supreme stage ascendant level lifeform.

But looking at the young man right now, he seemed more dangerous than that.

"Even without his capabilities as a Black Flask, this fellow is still a monster" Ross Kadmen mused inwardly.

As expected, the powerhouse backing Kailen Darkhaven could not be trifled with.

"All the more reason to set the stage for him tonight to demonstrate his new level of power"

Kadmen couldn’t help but muse to himself further.

Aurelius Zeynar, standing by his side couldn’t help but sigh.

He knew that look of his old friend.

Schemes and schemes all the time.

Caelthas Atrexia couldn’t help but sigh.

This Ross Kadmen was extremely passionate about the banquet games because he wanted Kailen to make a demonstration to the people gathered here.

Several other perceptive individuals in Kailen’s circle, and even a few others, thought the same thing.

"The banquet games are divided into two different forms. The non combat forms and the combat forms"

He went on "The non combat forms include painting, alchemy demonstrations, rune smithery, black smithery, and healing specialities"

"Anyone interested can choose anyone that specializes in a particular area and challenge them. Death is completely allowed, especially in the combat duels"

No one objected to his words. This was the virtual universe. It was not like if they died in the game, they’d actually die in real life right?

After these words, murmurs travelled throughout the room as looks of excitement and anticipation appeared on many faces.

It was one thing to watch something about a powerhouse you were curious about on social media forums, and on the platforms of the Virtual Universe Network.

However, to have a first hand experience of a demonstration of their strength was extremely different.

And tonight, many were curious about quite a number of people, especially Kailen Darkhaven.

A lady could be seen staring in the direction of Angela Hayes.

"Some of these people may be related to Kailen Darkhaven. But she’s a rank three beginner stage ascendant level lifeform, whereas I’m a rank five beginner stage Ascendant level lifeform. As a student of the Cornelius Empire Academy, I can use this opportunity to gain some connections by defeating her. This will make securing a good organisation for my internship easier"

The lady was a second year student of the Cornelius Empire Academy.

Before they came for the banquet, her parents had advised that since her second year vacation internship was due, she could make use of the banquet as an opportunity to fight against someone at the banquet during the banquet games. She could use that to show off her skills and secure connections that will make it easier for her to get into a good guild or organisation for her second year vacation internship.

She didn’t want to fight Micheal because in her opinion, Micheal was small fry, just a mere first year student. Even though the fellow was powerful for a rank 1 beginner stage ascendant level lifeform, the gap between them was too wide and she could swat Micheal with just a flick of her finger.

Also, she knew Micheal would not be stupid enough to have a duel with her when he would be the one to be humiliated in the end.

It was not because she knew Micheal on a personal level or anything.

It was simply her common sense at work here.

Quickly, she proceeded towards Angela Hayes.

The moment her parents saw her approaching Kailen Darkhaven’s group, her father’s eyes widened with trepidation.

"Sandra, get back here. Those people -"

Before her father’s thought transmission could even continue, Sandra, the female elf, cut him off by sending him a thought transmission of her own.

Her parents sighed.

Why was this girl so impulsive?

Her mother commented, as her father could only sigh helplessly and agree with his wife.

"That lady in Kailen Darkhaven’s circle seems ordinary. It’s obvious this match is set in stone"

"Do you think it’s time we place bets?"

"Yeah sure. Maybe that lady in Kailen’s circle can surprise us"

"Black Flask Darkhaven’s friend is definitely gonna lose to the girl"

" Of course It’s decided . Their difference in strength is too wide"

" I beg to differ. No one around Kailen Darkhaven is ordinary. I’m placing my bets on her"

Chatters broke out as all eyes were completely focused on Sandra , about to issue a duel to Angela Hayes.

Kailen and the group couldn’t help but sigh on noticing the train of thought of this lady.

She thought Angela was a small fry she could defeat and step on to make a name for herself.
