Freya jumped, startled by the look on his face.
“It wasn’t me! You fell on your own—I didn’t push you!” she protested, frantic, as if trying to convince herself.
Terrified, she stumbled back a few steps, afraid
I someone might see her. Then she turned on her heel and bolted back to her room.
Adamy sprawled on the floor in agony, tears slipping silently from his eyes.
He wanted to cry out, to call for help–but his mouth
“Mommy… help me…” He begged in whisper.
ouldn’t open. Despair swallowed him whole.
At that very moment, Skr was in her study, attending a meeting when a sharp pain suddenly gripped her heart. She clutched her chest and bent over her desk, trying to ease the stabbing ache.
“Adam…” An ominous dread filled her chest.
She abandoned her work without a second thought and rushed out of the study. When she reached the hallway, her blood ran cold at the sight before her. Adam was lying motionless on the floor, barely clinging to life.
“Adam!” Skr dropped to her knees and checked his heartbeat.
A heart attack. His heartbeat was dangerously faint–but he was still alive. If she’de even a minuteter, it might’ve been toote.
She took out ba /bCalmPulse Capsule and gently fed it to him, then scooped him into her arms and carried him back to his room.
After tucking him in, she closed the door and summoned the maid she’d specifically given instructions to earlier.
“How did Adam end up unconscious in the hallway?” she asked.
The maid turned pale, panic shing in her eyes. “I’m so sorry, Ms. Skr. I–I must’ve failed to keep an eye on him properly.”
“Did you evene check on him?”
The maid nodded nervously. “Per your instructions, I’ve been checking bin /bon him at intervals.”
She hesitated, then seemed to remember something. “I was going to upstairs just now, but Ms. Freya asked me to hand–wash some clothes for her, so I didn’t make it in time.”
Skr’s expression darkened. The pieces clicked into ce. Freya. She must’ve
taken advantage of the empty house to bully Adam.
Skr let out a coldugh. “Where is she?b” /b
The maid saw her face grow thunderous and felt sweat bead between her clenched fingers. She stammered, “I–I think Ms. Freya went bout/bb… /bbto /bmeet some friends… for shopping.”
Skr’s lips curved into a mocking smirk. “Tell all the household staff bto /bgather in the main hall. Now.”
She quickly pieced the clues together. Normally, staff woulde upstairs to tidy up at regr intervals. If they had, they would’ve bnoticed /bAdam blying /b
there in distress.
But today, not a single one hade up. Not one person had found him.
Was it just bad timing or had they chosen not to notice? Had they seen something and kept silent… for Freya? Either way, bthe /bhousehold needed ba /bserious shake–up.

b“/bMs. Freya told us not to go upstairs to clean,” one maid piped up.
Skr’s eyes locked onto her. “Didn’t I ask you to tidy up my room?”

He had a tendency to oversleep, and she didn’t want him lying in bed all day and being restless at night.
The maid tried to exin, “But Ms. Freya said…”
Skr chuckled softly. “I think you’ve misunderstood something.”
The maid blinked, confused. “What?”
“Freya and I hold the same status in this household. But you’ve chosen to follow only her orders and ignore mine.”
She stepped forward, and the others instinctively made way for her. Now standing right bin /bfront bof /bthe maid, she looked down at her with icy eyes.
