He left me broken. Now he's back and his apology tastes like sin
Oh King 49
bChapter /bb49 /b
Whenever Yana thought about this, her heart felt like it was breaking. “Skr, I’m with you,” she said to Skr.
b“/bMrs. Lambert, we only said a few joking words to him. Was it really necessary to take it this far?” one of thedies chimed in.
“Yeah, everyone’s families have business dealings with each other. Making a big fuss won’t benefit anyone,” another nodded. b“/bOur youthful bteasing /bbis /bbbest /bleft to us. You shouldn’t get involved.”
The youngdies didn’t expect that Mr. and Mrs. Lambert would actually defend Skr, who had just returned. Each of them panicked band /bquickly spoke up.
Yana ignored whatever they said. She only knew that her daughter had been wronged, and as a mother, she could not just stand bby /bband /bbdo /bnothing
“If you’re not satisfied, you can have your parentse to see me,” she said. “If they raised children like you, then their own character must bbe /bquestionable. I think this business cooperation ends here.”
As soon as she finished speaking, those girls turned pale.
Most of them were from the same social circle as the Lambert family, and the cooperation with bthe /bLamberts wasplicated and involvedrge investments.
If they lost the Lambert’s partnership, their family businesses would definitely suffer. And as the main culpritsb, /bthey would certainly be scolded bby /bbtheir /bfamilies.
Some of them barely had a chance to cooperate with the Lambert family. Attending the party and getting familiar with Freya was ba /brare opportunity bto /bopen future doors for convenience.
Now it was all ruined. When they returned home, they would be harshly reprimanded.
Those youngdies were terrified; some had already started to cry.
“Mrs. Lambert, don’t you really care about our friendship of so many years?” A daughter of a long–time business partner of the Lambert family stepped forward, “I believe business matters shouldn’t mix with personal issues.”
“I don’t care about personal or business matters, I just can’t stand seeing my daughter bullied,” Yana had no intention to waste words. “Mr. Baker, do whatever you need to do. As long as you can help my daughter get justice, money is no objectb./b”
Kaleb smiled and nodded: “I will do my best.”
In Skr’s eyes reflected the tall figure of Yana. She was like a huge source of warmth; being close to her, from head to toe, inside and out, bfelt /bcozy and
warm.
Skr’s heart felt sweet: ‘So this is what it feels like to be protected by family.‘
After those youngdies left, they were badly scolded by their parents. It was miserable.
Skr sat in the study with Carlos and Yana, the three of them together.
Yana asked about what had happened to her before, but worried she might get upset, added, “If you don’t want to talk about bit/bb, /bI won’t force you. bYou /bcan tell me when you’re ready. I will always wait for you.”
Skr smiled, “It’s okay. There’s nothing bI /bcan’t talk about.”
She calmly told them about what happened in the Stone family, andter how the Stone family used her to take bthe fall /bbfor /bEliana and what happened in prison.
As for the past with Yosef, she barely mentioned it, “I was married once, but we separated for various reasons.”

bTears /bstreamed bdown /bYana’s face uncontrobly. She hugged Skr btightly/b, “bWhat /bdid we bever /bbdo /bbwrong /bthat bmade /bbyou /bsuffer so bmuch/b?.
“Heavensb, /bwhy didn’t you punish me insteadb?/b” Even bCarlos /bcouldn’t help bbut /bget teary–eyed.
They bhad /binvestigated Skr’s background before. Although many details were unreachable, they still knew ba /bblittle/b.
They knew she had suffered, but not this deeply.
“That Stone family… for sending you to prison and letting you be bullied there. If I don’t make them pay, I won’t be a Lambertb,/bb” /bCarlos’s face darkened, thunderous and stormy, looking very fierce.
b“/bDad, I want to take revenge myself. Please don’t interfere,” Skr chimed in.
“Sweetheart…” Carlos wanted to say more but was stopped by a nce from Yana.
“If you want to take revenge yourself, we won’t interfere. If you need anything, juste to us,” added Carlos.
Skr nodded. A small smile appeared at the corner of her lips, “Thank you, Mom and Dad.”
“Still so polite with us,” Yana scolded gently, stroking Skr’s face. “Alright, you’re tired today. Go get some rest.”
The next morning, Yana and Carlos transferred a few millions in spending money to Skr with a wave of their handsb. /b
“Buy whatever you want. If it’s not enough, just tell us,” said Carlos.
Freya looked exhausted. The night before, she was verbally attacked one after another by the group of girls she used to be close to. At first, she kept apologizing, butter she fought back.
She spent the whole night arguing and didn’t sleep well, now with dark circles under her eyes.
She blinked her tired eyes, feeling deeply jealous.
They only saw Skr being wronged, never caring about her at all. It was so unfair.
She tightly gripped the knife and fork and identally scraped the te. The harsh sound attracted everyone’s attention at the table.
She apologized with pursed lips and a forced smile, “I didn’t hold it steady, sorry.”
“Freya, didn’t you sleep wellst night?” Yana immediately noticed the bruises under her eyes.
“A bit.” Freya still hoped for some care from Yana, wanted them tofort her.
Yana recalled the events ofst night and was still angry, “You need to seriously reflect onst night. Those people insulted Skr right in front of you, and you didn’t stand up for her.”
“And how did that person even get in?” she added. “You really have no idea?”
Freya lowered her head, voice full of grievance: “Mom/I’m sorry. I’m useless and couldn’t help Skr. I really don’t know about that person, but bI /bwill investigate clearly.”
“Forget it. Your dad and I will keep an eye on that person. You don’t need to worry,” Yana felt some resentment toward her.
She had hoped her foster daughter and biological daughter would get along well. But some behaviors from Freya made! hoped.
She didn’t want to assume the worst about her child, hoping she was wrong. Yana’s mood wasplicated.
Freya hated it deeply. She hated the biased foster parents and hated Skr even more for putting her in this bsituation/b.

Eating the cold food felt like chewing wax, tasteless. Freya barely sat there and ate breakfast with them.
She wanted to go to a bar to drink and ease her inner bitterness. But Carlos called after her, “Freya, wait.”
“Dad.” Freya stopped, “Did you need something?”
“Your mom said some harsh things this morning. I apologize to you on her behalf. Don’t me her–she’s just too protective of Skr and got carried away,” said Carios.
Freya sneered in her heart. ‘Being protective of her own daughter means ignoring the foster daughter’s wellbeing?‘
“I know you feel wronged,” Carlos added. “Here, this is your pocket money aspensation. iYou /ican also ask me for one wish. As long as it’s not too much, I’ll agree.”
Freya smiled softly, “Thank
you, Dad.”
