Heaven-Sent Farm Girl Builds Her Fortune And Captures His Heart
Chapter 114: To Light Your Way
CHAPTER 114: CHAPTER 114: TO LIGHT YOUR WAY
"Did Duan Yunfei send you?"
Shen Qinglan lowered her eyes and stopped speaking. She sat back in the carriage and told the driver, "Let’s go."
The driver nodded, and led the carriage off first, the two behind quickly following.
"Miss Shen, catch."
The carriage that had been following suddenly caught up, driving alongside Shen Qinglan’s carriage.
Le Zhao lifted the curtain, and before Shen Qinglan could react, she saw something glowing. With quick hands, she caught it.
"To light your way."
Le Zhao chuckled softly as his carriage suddenly slowed down, and Shen Qinglan’s carriage quickly brushed past it.
Shen Qinglan opened her hand, and there lay a pearl the size of a plum, emitting light.
"A Moon Pearl!" Shen Qinglan’s lips trembled slightly.
Le Zhao was actually using a Moon Pearl as a lamp—it was utter wastefulness!
She got up and pulled open the curtain, took down the hanging lamp from the carriage eave, requested a Fire Stick from the driver, and lit the lamp before hanging it back up.
As for the Moon Pearl, she certainly wasn’t going to return it to Mr. Le the Wealthy; since he’d given it to her, it was hers.
Shen Qinglan sat back in the carriage, playing with the Moon Pearl in her hand.
After half an hour, the carriage finally reached Lishui Village.
Water had already started to accumulate around, and Shen Qinglan found it reaching her ankles when she got out of the carriage.
Le Zhao yawned, "I’m not getting down!"
Shen Qinglan couldn’t be bothered with him and asked the driver to take the carriage to Shen Tang’s house before jumping out.
When she arrived, lights were still on inside Shen Tang’s house, and the voice of old Mrs. Shen could be heard.
"The water is too much, most of the firewood is wet. This rain, who knows when it will stop."
"I think I just heard someone come into our yard. I’ll go take a look."
That was the voice of her third uncle, Shen Tang.
As he left the main room, Shen Qinglan was just walking to the front yard with an umbrella.
"Who is it?" Shen Tang shouted.
Shen Qinglan approached and answered, "Uncle, it’s me."
"Qinglan!"
Shen Tang was surprised, "Weren’t you already on your way to town? Why are you here, did something happen?"
Upon hearing Shen Qinglan was there, the elder Shen couple hurried out.
Old Mrs. Shen pulled her into the main room and asked, "Qinglan, why are you here? Where are your parents?"
"They’re in town," Shen Qinglan said, "They sent me to bring you all over."
"These two, really," old Mr. Shen grumbled, "Couldn’t they wait till morning to fetch us? Sending you out on a rainy night—how could they be at ease."
"It’s not their doing, I insisted on coming," Shen Qinglan said, "Uncle, Grandfather, Grandmother, the carriage is just outside; pack up and we’ll leave right away."
Shen Tang was stunned, "We’re all going?"
"Yes, all of us!" Shen Qinglan said, "You pack up, and then we’ll call Uncle and the others."
"Let your grandparents go, what do we need to go for?" Shen Tang said, "There’s not enough space in town, it wouldn’t look good being cramped."
"Don’t worry, Uncle, there’s enough space,"
Shen Qinglan said, urging them to pack up quickly.
Old Mr. Shen seemed to remember something, and, with a solemn expression, said, "Since Qinglan insists, let’s hurry and pack up."
Hearing this, Shen Tang no longer argued and turned to pack.
Shen Qinglan reminded, "No need to pack much, just bring a few changes of clothes; everything else is in town."
