Hell Game: Starting from the Metropolis
Chapter 82: You Wouldn't Want Your Daughter to Marry That Blond Guy Either
"What did you say?" The fisherman looked confused.
"Things related to your daughter! How old is she, how tall, what does she look like, what does she like to eat, what does she enjoy doing, and so on."
"Oh, oh, she's twenty... uh, twenty-something this year?" The fisherman scratched his head.
"Seriously? You don't even know how old your own daughter is?" Liu Zheng was speechless.
"I have so many things to deal with every day, how could I remember all that?" The fisherman snapped angrily.
"Fine, fine, just tell me what you do know."
"She's about 160 centimeters tall. As for her looks, you can just look at a photo." The fisherman pulled a photo from his inner pocket and handed it to him.
The girl in the photo was wearing a bachelor's gown, standing under a plane tree making a peace sign, her smile radiant. She had a round face, short hair, wore glasses, and looked like a slightly chubbier version of Zhao Jinmai.
Hmm, not bad, wouldn't be too much of a sacrifice. Liu Zheng breathed a sigh of relief.
"Did you take this photo?"
"No." The fisherman shook his head.
"I didn't think so." As a reporter, he knew a bit about photography too. This one clearly looked like it was taken by a girl, and a girl who had self-studied some photography techniques at that.
"What do you mean by that?" The fisherman glared.
"Nothing, nothing. Continue."
"Hmph. When she was little, she liked eating the fish I cooked, but I don't know about now. Though last time I peeked, I saw her drinking coffee and eating cake." The fisherman continued.
Peeked... This father and daughter really don't seem close.
"What brand of coffee and cake?"
Liu Zheng had a bad feeling.
"Don't know. I just know the logo on it was an upside-down deer head." The fisherman said.
Damn it, I knew it! He groaned inwardly. Now he was going to get his eyes scraped, ears cleaned, and face peeled again.
"What are you yelling about?" The fisherman frowned.
"That coffee isn't easy to get." Liu Zheng told him about the Unlucky Coffee situation.
"Is that all? It's not like you can't grow them back." The fisherman didn't even bat an eye.
"But it still hurts! I'm not a masochist."
"Look at you, acting like a wimp. Here." The fisherman snapped off one of his own fingers and handed it to him.
"Bro, I didn't say I wouldn't go, this is a bit unnecessary." Liu Zheng didn't know whether to take it or not.
"What did you call me?" The fisherman narrowed his eyes.
"Fisherman."
"Think again."
"Uh... Father-in-law?" he tentatively ventured.
"You looking to die, kid?" The fisherman roared angrily.
"Then what should I call you?" Liu Zheng said bluntly.
"Call me Uncle for now." The fisherman hesitated for a moment before speaking.
"Okay. Uncle, please take this finger back."
"You think I'm doing this to mess with you? This is compensation for you." The fisherman said.
"Compensation? What can this do?" He asked. The System didn't pop up an item description either.
"Useless for people, useful for fish. Use this finger as a fishhook, any fish hooked by it will be unable to move." The fisherman said confidently.
"What about mermaids?"
"Mermaids are the same."
"That could be somewhat useful." Liu Zheng pocketed it. If he ever went to the seaside, he could use this to defend against the Mermaid Princess.
"Continue talking about your daughter."
"Nothing else." The fisherman shook his head.
"Huh? You've said practically nothing and that's it?" Even a dating website would provide more information than the fisherman did. Are these two really related by blood?
"Nothing means nothing. If I knew, wouldn't I tell you?"
"Then where is she now? You must know that at least?" If the fisherman said he didn't know again, Liu Zheng would rather break off the deal than take this job. For more chapters visit Nov3lFɪre.ɴet
"That I do know. She's working as some kind of DM at a board game shop now. What exactly that entails, I don't know." Thankfully, the fisherman wasn't that clueless.
"Oh, I know what that is." DM is the abbreviation for dungeon master. It originally referred to the host of the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons &
Dragons, but later became a general term for hosts of many board games. This world has board games too? Would they actually find a real dragon to play an NPC?
"You know? Good. Here's the address." The fisherman gave him a sticky note.
Seeing the sticky note, Liu Zheng suddenly had an idea.
"Uncle, you genuinely want me to pursue your daughter, right?"
"Right. If that blond guy ends up with my daughter, I'd rather die right now!" The fisherman gritted his teeth.
"Then you definitely won't be stingy with a little investment, right?"
"What do you want to do?" The fisherman became wary.
"You should know that we delivery guys can only go out when we're delivering an order. So I need you to place a delivery order for your daughter, with the delivery time window as long as possible." Liu Zheng said.
"Okay, is twelve hours enough?" The fisherman agreed decisively.
"Enough, enough! Uncle, you're truly awesome." He gave a thumbs up.
"For my daughter, I'll go all out. But, during these twelve hours, you can only use the time to pursue my daughter. If you dare use it for anything else, I'll turn your lower body into a fish, the kind that won't change back even if you cut it off." The fisherman said ominously.
"Don't worry. While I, Liu Zheng, might not be perfect in other aspects, my professional ethics are exemplary. If you don't believe me, you can ask Bullhorse, Delago, Napoleon, Ghost Hand—when I take their money to do a job, I always handle it perfectly." Liu Zheng patted his chest.
"Hmph, if someone hadn't vouched for you, would such a good thing fall into your lap? Alright, hurry up and get going. The Sewer is starting to notice." The fisherman urged.
"Uh... Father-in-law?" he tentatively ventured.
"Oh, Uncle, how should I report progress to you?" Liu Zheng asked.
"No need. My finger will be watching you." The fisherman said.
Wow, so this finger is a monitor too. No wonder there was no item description.
"Alright then, I'm off." He hoisted the Combined Fish-man onto his shoulder and swiftly ran towards the manhole opening.
While running, he glanced back. The fisherman had already disappeared. Only a giant fish tail flicked and vanished from the water's surface.
Liu Zheng withdrew his gaze and focused on running. The cosplay costume was still active, and he soon reached the manhole opening. He inserted the hooves into the wall and climbed out step by step.
Standing in the delivery passageway, Liu Zheng faced another problem. Which direction led back to the restaurant?
After thinking for a moment, he decided to just pick a direction at random. Even if he went the wrong way, he could just turn around and head back as long as he didn't leave the restaurant. So he walked towards the left-hand direction.
Luck was on his side;
the direction was correct, and Liu Zheng successfully returned to the Break Room.
"You did pretty well, kid, coming back so quickly." Bullhorse looked up, then saw the abstract version of itself. "What the hell! Who told you to cosplay as me? And you made it so ugly!" It was furious.
"No choice, boss. Among the people I know, you're the handsomest and the strongest." Liu Zheng looked innocent.
"Hmm, that is true. Your taste in that regard is quite good." Bullhorse's anger subsided.
"But how did you get your hands on a cosplay costume? This is a treasure of the Customer Service Department. That Britannia guy wouldn't even let us touch it." It asked curiously.
"Ghost Hand threw it to me."
"What exactly is that guy's background?" Bullhorse rubbed its chin.
"Even you don't know?"
"How would I know? It arrived even earlier than I did. The previous delivery guy only told me not to talk to it, nothing else."
"If I can't even talk to it, I can't exactly cozy up to it either." Bullhorse said irritably.
"Whatever, I already have enough troubles anyway, one more won't make a difference."
"True. You really should thank Mr. Li properly."
"If he hadn't turned you into a tentacle monster, the troubles you've stirred up would have cost you ten lives." Bullhorse nodded.
"Heh. I really should thank him. Thank his ancestors for eighteen generations." Liu Zheng sneered.
He had figured it out by now;
Mr. Li definitely had ulterior motives when he made him eat the Black Goat offspring's eyeball. If he hadn't coincidentally heard the Gospel, he might be inside Mr. Li's stomach right now. Of course, revenge was out of the question. But if he got the chance, Liu Zheng wouldn't mind screwing Mr. Li over.
"By the way, boss, do you know the Fisherman?" He asked.
