Hero Sensei: My students are fighting monsters, aliens, and mysterious organizations~
Chapter 3
Volume 1 - Ch. 2; The Former Hero Becomes a TeacherThe next day, I immediately began my work as a teacher.
I had a vague idea of what to expect, but it seems that the school''s main approach is a style of on-the-job training—learning while actually working in the field.
At the first staff meeting, annual and monthly plans were made, including preparations for the upcoming entrance ceremony, opening ceremony, and orientation for new students.
To be honest, it was a little tough for my brain to process everything on its second day back in ‘this world’.
However, I was lucky that my hyper-concentration skills and parallel thinking skills did their job, and I did not miss any necessary information.
It is a strange feeling to know that the skills I acquired while fighting monsters could be useful in a peaceful Japan. But I’d better put them to good use.
"Aiba-sensei, you must have been surprised when we suddenly started talking about all this at the meeting.
This school basically leaves even new teachers to their own devices, so it''s best to ask about anything you don''t understand."
After the meeting, Kumagami-sensei, the head teacher for the second-year high school class I was assigned to, told me this in the staff room.
He is a middle-aged man of fairly good physique with a bear-like appearance, just like his name.
I became the assistant homeroom teacher for Class 2-1, which Kumagami-sensei was the homeroom teacher for, and we sat next to each other in the staff room. S~?a??h the N0??F?re.n?t website on G??gl? to access chapters of n?vels early and in the highest quality.
“I managed to understand what was going on at the meeting. I didn’t realize that the entrance ceremony and all that was planned out in such detail.”
“Our head of school is very particular. But I guess it’s the same everywhere. Basically, as long as you do what you’re assigned, you’ll be fine.”
“I understand. Should I ask the head teacher?”
“Yes, that will be fine. By the way, you have a great figure, Aiba-sensei. Have you been doing any exercise?"
“Oh, uh ……”
Actually, the suit and shirt I’m wearing right now are too tight.
This is because I have been fighting in that cutthroat world for so long that my body has grown a size bigger.
But of course, there is no way to say that.
“I do quite a bit of martial arts and stuff. ……”
I tried to cover it up.
“Hoho, that’s important information. Actually, we haven’t decided on an advisor for the Mixed Martial Arts Club yet.”
It turned out to be a splendid bushwhack.
“Mixed Martial Arts Club…What''s that? I''ve never heard of it.”
“Oh, it’s a club that brings together martial arts clubs such as kendo, judo, aikido, and karate. None of the clubs have many members, and since each club alone wouldn’t be able to meet the school rules, they’re all treated as one club.”
“That’s quite a lot of heavy work.”
“We have too many clubs. That’s why we don’t have enough advisors. Yeah, it’s supposed to be like the seniors are in charge of giving the juniors technical instruction and stuff like that, so basically I’m mainly leading tournaments and doing paperwork.”
“In that case, it doesn’t matter if the advisor practices martial arts, does it ……?”
“Still, it''s better to have the right person for the job than to have an inexperienced teacher. And of course, if you can teach, teach."
“Hah .......Well, it''s better than being a ball game advisor. I''m not very good at ball games myself.
Okay, I''ll tell the chief academic officer. Since the young people will be assigned as advisors for the sports clubs anyway, it would be better if I stick to something I’m good at."
Kumagami-sensei laughed, shaking his muscular body.
And so, amidst the hectic schedule, a week passed by in the blink of an eye, and the day of the entrance ceremony and opening of school arrived.
Since it is an integrated elementary, junior high, and high school, the entrance ceremony for the high school is simplified and held at the same time as the opening ceremony.
The ceremony was familiar to me except that there were really only girls.
The problem was during homeroom afterwards.
I followed my homeroom teacher, Kumagami-sensei, to class 2-1’s classroom, but as I entered, I flinched as I was met with 30 curious stares.
"Now, as I was saying, I will continue to be the homeroom teacher for Class 1, so please give up on that. In exchange, I have appointed the new teacher, Aiba-sensei, as the assistant homeroom teacher, so please make sure to talk to him about any complaints you have about me."
Kumagami-sensei began to speak in a familiar manner. I was relieved to hear that the atmosphere here was the same at the all-girls school.
“Aiba-sensei, please introduce yourself briefly.”
"Ah yes. Well, my name is Aiba Hashiru. I teach Japanese, and I am the advisor for the Mixed martial arts club. My specialty is martial arts. Nice to meet you.”
I think I did some teaching practice, but my memory and experience of it have completely slipped away.
I mean, I didn’t expect the girls’ gazes to put so much intense pressure on me. And the gazes of a few of them were strong enough to be picked up by my detection skill. Don’t tell me you didn’t just say, “I can’t stand him,” and then hate me for greeting you right now?
I checked the students who were giving me strong gazes.
One of them had long black hair, but... she looked mean!
The other person was a tall girl with a short bob haircut …… this one also had scary eyes …… was it because there was no light in her eyes?
The other one was a girl with twin-tails …… thank goodness her eyes were normal. No, it’s precisely because they’re normal that her gaze is so scary.
“Now then, I’ll tell you the details in class, but first I’m going to collect your assignments. Get them ready.”
Following Kumagami-sensei’s instructions, the students all looked away from me and began to place what appeared to be assignments on their desks.
I was mildly terrified.
There''s no way everyone in the class will submit their assignments in full.
