Chapter 1732: Chapter 476: 2 Safety Valves
The Black Cat’s meaning was somewhat vague.
The others were baffled, but Zheng Qing immediately understood what it wanted to convey. Without the charm gun to draw away the leaking aura of the forbidden curse, more and more magic power accumulated without release, causing his eyes to bleed.
So he needed a new outlet.
Which was the Law book mentioned by the Black Cat.
It was the Law book that Zheng Qing customized with a copper coin at the Shangyuan Bookstore when he first came into contact with the Wizard World—recently, one night, the young wizard sleepwalked and filled that Law book with spells.
Later, Mister told him that the spell he recorded in the Law book that night was a guiding spell, a spell that could trigger a forbidden curse. In other words, that spell was considered the ‘trigger’ of the forbidden curse on Zheng Qing.
Although Zheng Qing never understood how to pull this ‘trigger,’ nor how the Black Cat knew he had this ‘trigger’ on him, it didn’t stop him from obediently following the Black Cat’s direction. He quickly reached into the grey cloth bag and fetched out the milky white Law book with a thick cover, mounted with bronze pins and leather clasps, which felt nice to touch.
As soon as his fingertips touched the cover of the Law book, the forbidden spell aura accumulated over the heart lake poured out like a flood from a broken dam. Zheng Qing could almost hear the roar of the aura flowing along his fingertips into the Law book.
He took out the Law book and let out a gentle sigh of relief.
Looking again at the small mirror in Dylan’s hand, in the mirror, the corners of his eyes were no longer bleeding, and his complexion had improved a lot.
“It won’t last long.”
The young wizard weighed the Law book in his hand and was surprised to find he could perceive its capacity—it could hold about less than ten Fu Bullets of forbidden spell aura—he couldn’t help but look up at the Black Cat: “What if it can’t hold anymore? Should I open the book and recite the spells inside?”
“If you want to go back to The Land of Void,” the Black Cat glanced at the Warlock, seemingly noticing the indifference in his eyes, and immediately added, “or even worse… luck isn’t always on your side.”
Beside them, several Absolution Hunters listened to the enigmatic conversation between the man and the cat with bewilderment. Only when the Black Cat mentioned ‘The Land of Void,’ Xiao Xiao’s pupils slightly contracted, yet he only silently lowered his head without saying more.
“What if it’s filled?”
Zheng Qing worriedly held the Law book—whether it was an illusion or not, the ‘pipe’ fastened between the heart lake and the container transformed, becoming thicker and larger, causing his previous estimates to be slightly skewed. The time it might take to fill the Law book would likely be sooner and quicker than expected.
“Pocket Watch.”
The Black Cat impatiently swished its tail and spat out two words, but appeared uninterested in providing further explanation. Zheng Qing’s eyes lit up, suddenly remembering the gift Mister gave him, instantly adding an extra layer of security.
Law book, Pocket Watch.
Two simple safety valves mounted on the dam allowed Zheng Qing to somewhat control the speed of dam collapse before returning to the First University.
With the internal threat vanquished, the Warlock finally noticed some previously ignored details and suspiciously glanced at the Black Cat: “How do you know so much… are you connected with Mister?”
“Who’s connected with that old geezer.”
The Black Cat jumped as if its tail had been stepped on, turned around, and shouted at the guy: “Even if I’m caught by Vampires, fight hairy Toads, or fall into The Land of Void, I wouldn’t go find that old geezer!”
With effort, Zheng Qing twisted his body, found a slightly more comfortable posture, looked at the Black Cat, and was full of helplessness: “I’m just giving an example—no need to be so agitated… So, how do you know about those things? As far as I know, many matters occurred after you left.”
The Black Cat lowered its head, glanced at the shadow beneath Zheng Qing’s feet that initially branched but now nearly adhered together, becoming particularly thick, and snorted:
“Because I’m your shadow, so whatever your shadow knows, I can learn from it… Speaking of which, this world’s shadows are indeed ugly.”
Zheng Qing followed the Black Cat’s gaze to his feet, then looked up to the sky with a thoughtful expression: “If Buji Island ALSO has two suns, I suppose you’d have two heads now.”
High in the sky, the battle between the two suns had reached a fever pitch, with gold and red interweaving, appearing from afar like two opposing sides of a three-dimensional Möbius Strip.
The other hunters of the Absolution Hunting Team who had been listening intently to Zheng Qing and the Black Cat’s conversation felt as though they finally got to taste some fresh watermelon. Xin Fat Man was the first to stir up excitement.
“Is it the Big Black Tiger from the school hunting party?”
The Fat Man looked at the Black Cat, face full of disbelief: “I thought It looked familiar before… thought it was your accomplice snatched from the Cat Fruit Tree!”
Upon hearing the words ‘Big Black Tiger,’ the Black Cat instinctively raised its neck, trying to appear more majestic. But ‘Cat Fruit Tree’ immediately rendered its efforts futile.
“You must be blind to realize it just now.” Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, mocking: “I think you’re even more suited to wear high-powered glasses than me.”
The Black Cat nodded in agreement, swiped its tail across the Fat Man’s face as a response to his blindness. The Fat Man jovially wiped off the tail flicked at him, without a trace of annoyance, even intending to take out a few chicken legs to see if Zheng Qing’s shadow was as greedy as Tuan Tuan in the dormitory.
“Is it Brother Qing’s shadow?” Dylan curiously reached out his hand, stroked the sleek fur on the cat’s back, with undisguised surprise in his voice.
Even in the age-old Blood Race Castle, embodied shadow entities are extraordinarily rare. Having not participated in the Absolution Hunting Team’s school hunting party, he only heard of the formidable Black Cat thereafter, now seeing the real deal, understandably catching extra curiosity.
Without turning its head, the Black Cat slapped away Mister Blood Werewolf’s claw reaching toward it.
“I’m a cat with an independent cat personality, not someone’s shadow!”
The Black Cat’s face showed a hint of ire, swallowing its just-spoken words, scanning those in the shallow pit with a warning: “Don’t always associate me with this fool… We parted ways long ago! Completely! If anyone talks nonsense, watch out for being thrown out to feed the Mi-go!”
With that, it gestured with its paws a separating motion, then chop down with palms facing down in a threatening manner.
The hunters naturally wouldn’t argue with a cat over such details, all nodding in agreement.
Only when the Black Cat mentioned Mi-go did Zheng Qing finally extricate himself from the momentarily short yet false sense of security fostered in the shallow pit, returning to the harsh reality.
