High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1811: Chapter 32: On-Site Investigation
The newly appeared wizards were surrounded by a surge of magical power, their law books emitting beams of light. Without much persuasion, they easily suppressed the order that Robert had barely managed to maintain with great effort.
The originally crowded crowd consciously spread out, making Zheng Qing and the others who remained in place stand out.
“Disperse, disperse!”
“What fun is there in watching together!”
“Blocking traffic is a violation of the ‘Beta Town Management Regulations.’ Do you want to be fined?”
With just a few words, the newly appeared wizards completely dispersed the onlookers who had already retreated. In just a moment, the originally congested pedestrian street was left with only the unconscious bald black wizard, the trembling mouse people, Sheriff Robert Lee, and Zheng Qing, Zhu Si, and a few others.
The black robes, gray robes, and the three patrol leaders from the school gathered together, assigned simple responsibilities, and then their subordinates scattered like birds.
Some traced the escape route of the black wizard until it disappeared at the end of the street, others went to nearby shops to collect witness statements, some stayed to examine the tattoos on the black wizard’s head and the items he carried, others chatted with the sheriff who first maintained order, some interrogated the mouse people and those few cats, and others walked straight towards Zheng Qing and his group.
The two wizards familiar with Zheng Qing soon approached.
One was Professor An from Jiuyou Academy. When Zheng Qing got into a fight on the pedestrian street last year, during his first year at school, it was Professor An who dragged them back. The other was Andrew from Trident Sword, a chubby young wizard. Zheng Qing first saw him at the Great Ming Pavilion when a wild boar monster appeared in the market, causing huge chaos.
“There’s never any good when I see you,” Andrew looked at Zheng Qing’s fair face, shaking his head. “I bet you’re the most troublesome cost student in the history of Jiuyou Academy.”
Professor An didn’t comment on such idle talk, but from his expression, it was clear he agreed.
Zheng Qing rolled his eyes: “Your logic is flawed… When there’s nothing wrong, you don’t come to chat, eat, or drink tea with me. You only deal with these troublesome matters. So, it’s not that there’s nothing good when you see me, but that there’s no good when I see you.”
This statement seemed to make some sense. Andrew was momentarily stunned.
“No time for your nonsense here. Tell us, what exactly happened?” Professor An sternly interrupted Zheng Qing and Andrew’s bickering, pointing to the bald wizard on the ground: “And who is that guy? Where did he come from?”
Zheng Qing shook his head honestly and pushed Doctor Xiao in front of the professor.
Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses and began to speak unhurriedly: “The thing is, this morning, I went to D&K to check the accounts—this shop belongs to our Absolution Hunting Team—at the time there weren’t many customers…”
While he and Professor An were taking notes, Zheng Qing tugged on Andrew’s robe sleeve: “Why did you come so late? Last time in the North District, and the time before at the Great Ming Pavilion, although you were the last to arrive, you came quickly. Why so late today?”
“Late? Not at all!”
Andrew wiped his shiny forehead, shook off the young wizard’s hand, with a slightly sentimental expression: “Trident Sword was originally in a meeting with the School Works Committee… Just for a moment, who would have thought such a thing would happen on the street! We rushed over before the meeting even ended.”
“What meeting?” Xin Fat Man sidled over with his feather pen, smiling: “Is it that demons plan to attack Buji Island, or does the academy want to clean up the Silent Forest again during this year’s Winter Hunting?”
The Trishula Commissioner shot a wary look at the journalist badge hanging on the fat man’s chest, and his tone instantly became a bit stiff: “School secrets, don’t inquire! … Two black tides have already arisen this year, there aren’t that many dangerous magical creatures left in the Silent Forest!”
“Oh,” Fat Man displayed a knowing look, drawing a line in his notebook: “So, it has nothing to do with Winter Hunting or the Silent Forest.”
The Trishula Commissioner fell silent, starting to stew in his own frustration.
Meanwhile, Zheng Qing noticed a few seniors from the school patrol team not far away.
“You’re late because of your meeting, but what about them?” He carefully pointed to the seniors not far away, who looked even more restless and exhausted than them: “This shouldn’t involve secrets, right?”
Andrew’s sullen expression dissipated, and he unexpectedly showed a hint of schadenfreude.
“It’s not classified, but it’s indeed quite sensitive.”
The Trishula Commissioner intentionally turned his back to Xin Fat Man, lowered his voice, and whispered into Zheng Qing’s ear: “It seems there’s some trouble in the North District… the North District’s tricksters, oh, now called Northern District Wizards, want to admit a batch of people in September… How is that possible, the slots have long been determined… So they’re fiddling with some ‘Please Give Me a Frog’ activity… The school patrol team has most of its manpower tied up there. Trident Sword also has a lot of its forces there.”
After speaking, he stood upright but was immediately startled.
Unknowingly, Xin Fat Man had sidled to his and Zheng Qing’s lower side, tilting his head, listening with great interest, his feather pen silently flying over his notepad.
“What are you doing?” Andrew softly scolded.
“After all, with Sister Korma over there,” Xin Fat Man seemed not to hear the reprimand, biting the end of the feather pen, also joining in the whispering in this corner: “One wrong move, and it’s a big event…”
Zheng Qing nodded: “No matter what, when a Big Wizard is involved, it’s no harm to be more cautious.”
“Are you done? Can we leave now?” Li Meng’s loud voice came from not far away: “A few big men whispering in broad daylight, shameful!”
Zheng Qing turned around and happened to see the little witch making faces at him. Zhu Si seemed indifferent, while Su Ya, with dodging eyes, was hugging Poseidon tightly, not allowing it to run wild.
On the other side, the on-site investigation work by Trident Sword and the School Works Committee was almost complete. After simple negotiations, the black wizard was taken away by the Trident Sword people, and after signing the relevant investigation report, Dangdang Ears was also allowed to leave.
After praising Zhu Si’s courageous actions, Professor An quickly disappeared at the end of the street with the group of wizards, and in an instant, the street returned to its usual peace and tranquility. Even the cobweb-like cracks on the blue stone slabs on the ground were wiped clean, restored to their original state.
Xin Fat Man bought many milk teas for everyone from the milk tea shop nearby, not leaving out Lin Guo, who had always been on the outskirts of the circle, or the unfamiliar Starry Sky Academy witch.
“By the way, these are your trial cards. I ran into Zhang Ji Xin in the morning, and he already picked them up for everyone.” Xiao Xiao said while holding the milk tea, seemingly remembering something, took out several metal plaques from his pocket, and spread them on his palm.
