His Perfect Ex Returns: The Heiress Walks Away to Her Real Prince
Chapter 58: Obsessed
CHAPTER 58: CHAPTER 58: OBSESSED
Lately, Ethan Grant has been running around trying to secure investments.
There is almost no possibility of businesses in Oakhaven investing in the Grant Group, so he has been traveling to other places, spending most of his time in hotels and on airplanes.
He had just returned to Oakhaven from another location today, and Wyatt Jacobs came to pick him up.
In the evening, on the way to a dinner party.
During a red light interval, Wyatt Jacobs glanced at Ethan Grant.
Ethan Grant was flipping through photos of himself and Talia Rhodes on his phone.
Wyatt Jacobs opened his mouth but hesitated to speak.
Before he could say anything, Ethan Grant leaned over, handed him the phone, and said with affection, "Look how happy we were back then."
Wyatt Jacobs’ expression was quite complicated.
The last time, Ethan Grant had taken him to France to buy a ring, saying he wanted to use it to win back Talia Rhodes.
Ethan Grant had mentioned that Talia Rhodes was about to get engaged and remarked that stealing someone else’s fiancée was immoral.
Since returning, Wyatt Jacobs had not dared to ask Ethan Grant about Talia Rhodes.
Since Talia Rhodes left Mirehaven last time, Ethan hadn’t seen her in all this time, nor did he know anything about her fiancé.
However, spending time with Ethan Grant recently, Wyatt Jacobs clearly noticed Ethan was smiling less and less.
At gatherings with friends, Ethan used to be the one having the most fun. But now, he often drinks alone, and when drunk, he would call out for Talia Rhodes with sorrow.
At this moment, Ethan was looking at pictures of himself and Talia, smiling for the first time in a long while, seemingly lost in deceptive reminiscence.
Wyatt Jacobs thought Ethan Grant was possessed, bewitched.
He wanted to ask, "Have you given her the ring?" but couldn’t bring himself to say it.
In the end, Wyatt sighed heavily.
The red light turned green.
The driver stepped on the accelerator, and the car moved forward.
Eventually, Wyatt couldn’t hold back and said, "Ethan, as a brother, I still want to advise you. Your relationship was good back then, but a miss is still a miss. She has a fiancé now; don’t do anything immoral."
"Immoral?" Ethan scoffed with indifference, "I’ve already said, I don’t care about morality. I just want her by my side."
Wyatt frowned and continued advising, "But she’s almost married. You can’t just..."
Ethan shrugged, unconcerned, "Wyatt, in our circle, plenty of married couples play around outside, right? Isn’t it common for husband and wife to go their own ways?"
"..."
Wyatt paused and said, "Ethan, common doesn’t mean correct."
Ethan remained silent, with a cold expression.
Wyatt fell quiet too.
It turned out that someone without morals isn’t restrained by them.
He thought Ethan Grant was being wretched.
People only regret when they’ve lost what they failed to cherish.
The car reached a bustling section of downtown.
During rush hour, the road was jam-packed with cars.
Ethan Grant leaned back, staring blankly out the window.
Suddenly, he spotted a familiar silhouette.
"Stop the car!" Ethan shouted.
Wyatt Jacobs was puzzled, "What?"
Seeing Ethan gazing out the window, Wyatt followed his line of sight and froze.
In an instant, he understood why Ethan suddenly wanted the car to stop.
On the sidewalk, Talia Rhodes was walking alongside a man.
The two were facing in their direction, not too far away, allowing their faces to be seen clearly.
The man was handsome, with an aristocratic air, dressed impeccably—clearly not an ordinary person.
They laughed together intimately.
Ethan murmured softly, "Out of the hospital so soon; must have a tough life."
Wyatt guessed the man might be Talia Rhodes’ fiancé.
Ethan Grant opened the car door and walked towards Talia.
...
Adrian Jennings had been out of the hospital for a week.
During this week, he was under Talia’s supervision, eating light meals every day.
Initially, it was fine, but meal after meal of bland food became tiresome.
After some gentle persuasion, today Talia finally agreed to improve the meal situation and take him out to eat.
Talia brought him to a restaurant located in the busiest and most bustling district of downtown.
A famous old establishment in Oakhaven, both Adrian Jennings and Talia had frequented since childhood.
It was peak dining time; the hall was fully occupied, and a long line waited at the entrance for their turn.
Talia had made a reservation in advance. Upon arrival, she scanned the code at the entrance, ready to follow the waiter inside, when suddenly someone called out to her.
"Talia!" Wyatt Jacobs shouted.
Talia turned around, first seeing Wyatt Jacobs, then spotting Ethan Grant beside him.
Talia frowned.
Why was he here too?
Really like a lingering ghost.
Ethan Grant and Wyatt Jacobs approached her.
Wyatt greeted her, "Long time no see, Talia. Turns out you’re from Oakhaven, why haven’t you mentioned it before?"
Wyatt had only heard Ethan say that Talia was from Oakhaven and was about to get engaged, but knew nothing else.
He didn’t know she was a Rhodes Family socialite, nor did he recognize the man beside her as the CEO of the Jennings Group.
Vivian Coleman and Eleanor Madison had defamed Talia at The Sterling Family’s party, accusing her of theft, and were disgracefully thrown out by security. Such embarrassing incidents were kept secret, naturally not spread around.
Therefore, their circle was still unaware of Talia Rhodes’ family background.
Wyatt Jacobs was one of the few in Ethan’s circle with the right view and wouldn’t look down on "poor Talia Rhodes."
Sometimes he’d even lend a hand to Talia.
Thus, Talia’s impression of Wyatt Jacobs had always been good, and she greeted him politely.
Talia nodded slightly to Wyatt Jacobs, replying, "Long time no see."
"Who is this?" Wyatt asked, feigning ignorance.
Talia smiled and introduced, "This is my fiancé, Adrian Jennings."
"Adrian Jennings!" Wyatt was shocked, his eyes wide open, "You’re... you’re Adrian Jennings?"
He had never seen Adrian Jennings in person, and there were no interviews or reports online.
But Adrian Jennings’ name was renowned.
People in their social layer were almost universally familiar with this name.
This was the Crown Prince of Oakhaven, Adrian Jennings!
Adrian’s face was cold, jaw clenched, eyes sharp as blades, glaring at Ethan Grant as if to cut him into pieces, "Do you need anything?"
Wyatt involuntarily shivered.
This Adrian Jennings’s presence was overwhelming, indeed worthy of being the Crown Prince of the Jennings Family.
The natural intimidation and aura of superiors that surrounded him were impossible for the pampered young men to emulate.
Wyatt scratched his head, awkwardly saying, "Mind if we join you for dinner?"
Talia was busy at lunchtime, had no time for a proper meal, only having a piece of bread. Now, she was starving, and eager to get inside to order food.
"You’re welcome, but he’s not," Talia pointed out Ethan.
Ethan’s expression became somewhat complex.
