When Tessa and Stephen made it to the Yates residence, Sophia was already sitting on the couch and waiting for them in the living room.

    Samuel had no objections to her decisions, so he said warmly, "Alright. Then, we''ll do it your way."

    When she heard him, she turned to look at Stephen. At the same moment, Stephen had tilted his head to look at her. Their eyes met, and they exchanged a silent smile.

    When the wedding discussion began in earnest, Sophia first inquired after Tessa''s opinion. "Tessa, where would you like to hold the wedding?"

    In truth, Tessa had already envisioned how their wedding would go when she had gotten engaged to Stephenst year.

    Meanwhile, Stephen simply went along with whatever Tessa wanted.

    The three women chattered away. They talked about the venue, wedding dress, hairstyle, itinerary, and guest list. Stephen and Samuel

    didn''t even have a chance to get a word in.

    Eventually, Samuel shot Stephen a look and said, "Stephen,e with me."

    Stephen obediently followed Samuel to the study.

    Samuel sat on the polished oak chair and began preparing tea with his porcin tea set. "Have a seat," he said.

    Stephen sat across from him.

    Samuel didn''t bother putting on airs. He loved tea and was skilled in preparing it.

    So, he served Stephen a cup and urged, "Please have a taste."

    Stephen quietly picked up the teacup and took a sip.

    Samuel''s eyes seemed far away as he murmured, "Do you remember this ce? You asked for my daughter''s hand in this very room four years ago."
