The silence in the room was deafening, I could almost taste the tension in the air, thick and suffocating.
“Are you insane?” Andre’s voice broke through, incredulous. “Your can’t kill Danton! Not that I want him alive, but… You won’t be able to touch him. It’s impossible.”
Thorne snickered, barely fared. “Why? Is he some kind of immortal, like Lance?”
“No.” Andre shook his head sharply “But he’s ba /bGeneral. Big shot around here. Always surrounded by his loyal army. Getting rid of him? That’s impossible.”
I rolled my eyes, an amused smirk tugging at the corner of my lips, “I’ve killed hundreds of rogues. And there are more soldiers in the field than here. So, yeah, nothing is impossible,” Thorne said, his tone indifferent, abmost bored.
He turned toward me then, his gaze steady. “What do you think!
I took a moment, my mind racing, Killing Danton bhad /bnever crossed my mind. Sure, I hated the bastard, but there were always bigger priorities like staying onder Lance’s radar, Keeping a blow /bprofile had been our game bn /ball along.
But now? The idea lingered in the back of my mind. If we could do this quietly, without raising suspicion, it would solve so many problems. Andre would be free from Danton’s torment, Lance would lose one of his trusted men. And I’d get the satisfaction of seeing Danton’s life snuffed out–permanently. It felt almost too good to pass up.
I leaned back in my chair, my lips curling into a wicked grin. “Yeah, I’m in. Let’s do it.”
Thome’s lips twitched in approval. Andre, on the other hand, looked like he was about to pass out.
“You guys bare /binsane.” Andro
Andre groaned, his hands tangled in his hair. “If this goes wrong, Danton and the Rogue King will roast me alive! I’ll be boast
Ignoring his meltdown, I kept my focus on Thome. “But it has to go quietly,” I said. “We bcan’t /bafford to get caught. We need to find a time when Danton’s alone. And we need to make sure there’s no trace bthat /bcould lead back to us.”
Thome nodded, his expression darkening with thought “How about in bhis /bsleep?”
Isnorted, unimpressed. “He’s balways /bbgot /bhis mistress in bed with him. And his guards never leave the room. You’re not getting near him that way.”
“What a coward,” I muttered under my breath. bDanton /bwas no leader. Just a spoiled little man pretending to be one
Thome frowned, his brow furrowing as he considered options. “It might be better if we make it blook /blike a suicide,” he said. “If it’s a suicideb, /bLance won’t ask too many questions. Our hands will be clean.”
I couldn’t help butugh, the bitterness in my voice cutting through the tension. “Danton? A man who forces women into the dirt? bHe’s /bnot the type to off himself.”
The room fell quiet for a moment as we all brainstormed. It wasn’t just about killing Danton. It was about getting away with it.
Thenb, /bAndre broke the silence. His voice was hesitantb, /bas though he wasn’t sure if we’d listen. “Actually… Ehave an idea.b” /b
We all turned to him, waiting
“There’s a perfect time and ce for you bto /bdo it,” he continued, almost nervously.
Thome and exchanged a look before I spoke, “Go on. bWe’re /blistening
Andre swallowed hard, his gaze shitting around the room. “Every spring, Danton hosts a hunting trip in the woods. Only his closest friends get invitedb. /bIt’s
Private event
Trased an eyebrow. Hunting? I bwasn’t /bimpressed. But I wasn’t backing down yet. “So, we kill him during the hunting! It’s not the best idea people. And bright daylight makes it a bad time for an assassin.”
Andre shook his head quickly. “No, no. I’m not talking about during the hunting itself. I mean after”
Histone grey darker bas /bhe continued, and i could feel the unease creep up my spine. “Wterward, they camp out in the woods. That’s where madness happens.”
I frowned, suspicion rising, “What do you mean “madness“?”
Andre grimaced, disgust crawling across his features. “The afterparty. That’s the real highlight. They get drunk, do drugs, and well, the women they bring are forced to join in. It’s a nightmare.”
The anger bubbled up in my chest, sharp band /bhot. “Lance knows about this? Thissed through clenched teeth.
b“/bOf course, he does,” Andre rolled his eyes. “Lance and Danton are like brothers. They’ve done worse stuff together.”
My heart hardened. I clenched my fists, my mind racing with cold fury. “I’m going to kill them both. It’s only a matter of time.”
Thorne stepped closer, his voice low and determined. “Soon. You won’t have to wait much longer.”
I turned my focus bback /bto Andre. “Does Danton get his own tent during the night?”
He nodded, “Yeah. The one time he’s without guards. Everyone’s too busy with the chaos”
I felt the weight of the n settle into ce. “This could work,” I said, voice hardening with resolve. “But we need to make it look like a suicide. We’ll force him to take a lethal dose of drugs. No one will suspect a thing”
Thorne nodded, a calcting look in his eyes. “We’ll make it look like an ident, and Lance won’t ask any questions. This is the perfect setup.”
I hesitated. “But can we get in without the guards noticing?”
Andre’s eyes flickered towards me. He hesitated before speaking, clearly ufortable with the idea, “if byou /bblend in with the women, you’ll have an easy time getting close to Danton.”
I froze, the weight of the suggestion settling over me like a heavy cldak. “Absolutely not,” Thorne snapped, his voice cold with fury.
I looked at Thorne, but I wasn’t backing down. “it makes sense. We’ll have beasy /bess to his tent”
“bHave /byou lost your mind?” Thome’s anger red. “Do you have any idea what kind of men will be there? Drunk, high, out bof /bcontrol…
I wasn’t about to let him stop me, “I can handle myself,” I said, my voice cutting through his anger like a knife. “If it were anyone else, you wouldn’t even blink. But because it’s meb?/bb” /b
He clenched his fists, rage burning in his eyes. But there was nothing else he could say.
Andre shifted ufortably. “So, are we agreed? We do this after the hunt?”
I nodded firmly, my voice steady. “Yes. We do it on the night of the hunt.”
Andre exhaled in relief. “I’ll head back now. Danton’s bound to ask questions if I stay any longer.”
I gave him a final warning look. “Make sure you have a story ready. We can’t afford to raise suspicions.”
As he slipped out the window, I felt the weight of the n settle on my shoulders. But there was something else, too–a stirring anticipation. The fight ahead wasn’t just for Andre or for justice, it was personal.

And I was going to make sure that Danton never had the chance to hurt anyone again.
When I returned to the bedroom, Thorne was standing by the window, his back to me. I could feel the tension radiating off him like heft from al
I moved toward him, wrapping my aims around his bwaist/b, pressing my cheek against his back. “Don’t be mad,” I whispered.
He didn’t say anything at first. Then he spun around, mming me against the wall, his lips crashing onto mine in a fierce, hungry kiss.
“Why can’t you just be a normal woman for once?” he growled between kisses.
I pulled him closer, not even thinking. “Because that’s what you love about me, I murmured against his lips. “We’re fighters. We’re perfect for each
other.”
And as we copsed into the bed, tangled in each other, I knew that no matter what happened, I wouldn’t be backing down.
Not now. Not ever.
