Hold On Mr.! Your Sweetheart is a Real Queen
Chapter 494: George Stephens
CHAPTER 494: GEORGE STEPHENS
"Daisy, don’t get worked up. If that snake is venomous, it could make the poison spread faster!"
But how could she possibly calm down?
Daisy Ginger glared fiercely at the door, cursing Edward Stephens a thousand times in her mind. That idiot, knowing there was a snake in the room, dared to run inside. Didn’t he see the group of big men outside who wouldn’t dare enter? Did he think he was a cat with nine lives?!
Fortunately, Edward swiftly emerged.
Holding a small emerald-green snake.
"Ah!"
A frightened girl screamed lightly, and the crowd quickly retreated a meter backwards.
Edward tossed the snake onto the ground and exhaled gently: "It’s not a Bamboo Pit Viper. It’s a Green Snake, and it’s already dead."
The nearby doctor also came over, checked, and nodded, "It’s a non-venomous Green Snake."
Daisy finally let out a breath and collapsed onto the ground. Elena Raven untied her wrists, crying and laughing, "Daisy, thank goodness you’re alright!"
Daisy’s head buzzed as she relaxed, only to realize she was drenched in cold sweat.
Edward walked forward and lifted her from the ground, holding her tightly for a few moments to calm himself before looking up at the crowd: "How did a Green Snake end up in her room?"
At this moment, the director’s team hurried in, saw the dead green snake on the ground, and jumped. Upon hearing Daisy was okay, they wiped the cold sweat off their foreheads.
He almost believed there would be a fatal accident on his set.
The medical team was also puzzled: "Green Snakes are generally timid, active during the day and rarely at night. How could it possibly end up in a place where people live?"
Edward’s eyes were cold as he stared at the snake’s corpse, his expression becoming increasingly somber.
Green Snakes reside on trees or under rocks, rarely exposing themselves to crowds, and are particularly timid, so when he opened the door, the snake had already scared itself to death.
Daisy’s dormitory is on the third floor, and it’s impossible for a Green Snake to climb up voluntarily. That means someone found a Green Snake in the forest and deliberately placed it in Daisy’s room to scare her.
——That’s thinking positively.
But what if the person who caught the snake actually thought the Green Snake was a Bamboo Pit Viper?
After all, most people, upon seeing a green snake, think it is venomous.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t be possible for everyone to be too scared to enter the room and catch the snake when Daisy mentioned it was a green snake.
For a moment, the entire hallway fell into a heavy atmosphere.
The dark night cast eerie shadows on everyone’s faces, and silence fell over them all.
The thought that someone had secretly placed a snake in the dormitory was unsettling.
——Now it’s a non-venomous snake. Next time, what if it’s a venomous one?
Paranoia spread among people.
Director Carter wiped the cold sweat off his face and assured Edward Stephens, "I’ll check the surveillance now. Edward, I promise to give you an explanation!"
"But, there’s no camera in the dormitory!"
Someone couldn’t help but speak up.
To protect the actors’ privacy, no surveillance cameras were installed in this dormitory.
"This..." Director Carter was stunned.
Edward furrowed his brow and said solemnly, "Check the surveillance near the entrance."
While there are no cameras inside, there are cameras installed outside the entrance.
"Alright, alright, I’ll contact the gatekeeper right away!"
Director Carter responded, hastily taking out his phone to call the gatekeeper.
*
With the crisis averted, everyone relaxed.
But since it’s not yet clear who’s responsible for releasing the Green Snake, everyone lost their sleepiness. At eleven o’clock at night, the hallway buzzed with chatter, and no one dared to return to their rooms to rest.
"Daisy..."
Elena squatted in front of Daisy, frowning with worry. Watching Daisy’s pale face, she leaned in and whispered in her ear.
"Could the person who released the snake be someone from a few days ago..."
Before she could finish, Edward’s voice cut in.
"What are you talking about?"
Elena looked at Edward, and then at Daisy, her expression troubled. Without Daisy’s orders, she dared not tell Edward about the incidents of a few days ago, but she suspected the snake releaser was the same person who had placed dirt and grasshoppers on Daisy’s bed.
Clearly, under Daisy’s pacification, the person’s actions were escalating.
She feared something serious might happen to Daisy next time.
Daisy pursed her lips and glanced at Edward, her expression grim.
"Elena, I’ll explain."
She exhaled lightly and lowered her eyes, speaking softly, "A few days ago, someone placed dirt and grasshoppers on my bed."
Edward’s expression changed, grabbing her shoulders, "Why didn’t you tell me?!"
Daisy sighed softly and said, "It happened after your brother arrived. I didn’t mention it because I didn’t think it was a big deal, and..."
She looked up at Edward, speechless.
After all, it was Edward’s son.
But today’s act had exceeded her expectations.
She thought he would only put bugs or dirt in her room, but unexpectedly, a snake was brought in.
What made her emotions complex was she hadn’t left her room the whole day, except for the hour she spent bathing.
Such meticulous thought and malicious actions were beyond her imagination.
Surely, these are characteristics groomed by Robert Stephens?
Apart from being too young to know concealment, other tactics were almost identical to Robert Stephens’—a disregard for life.
At the same time, Director Carter called, inviting Edward and Daisy to the surveillance room to have a look.
Edward, with a somber expression, took Daisy downstairs, his mind already forming suspicions about the perpetrator.
Surveillance Room.
In the cloak of night, a small figure with a backpack entered the dormitory.
Since there was no night shooting today and everyone went to bed early, almost no one noticed the small figure entering.
After half an hour, the camera captured the child’s figure again.
Daisy stood beside Edward, gazing at the small child in awe of his intelligence—
In just a few days, he had already figured out her bathing schedule!
Why doesn’t he avoid the cameras?
Or perhaps he simply doesn’t fear the cameras.
This highly intelligent child, avoiding camera blind spots to enter, should be a piece of cake.
Could it be that he believed the snake would bite her, but even if everyone knew he did it, they couldn’t do anything about it, so he didn’t bother hiding?
After all, Daisy knew he was responsible for each prank.
He was openly confronting her.
