Hold On Mr.! Your Sweetheart is a Real Queen
Chapter 516: You are nice to every child except me.
CHAPTER 516: YOU ARE NICE TO EVERY CHILD EXCEPT ME.
About ten minutes later, Thomas Woods, the butler beside Robert Stephens, hurriedly arrived.
Thomas was an old-fashioned gentleman, with one-third British blood. When Edward Stephens was very young, he taught him the authentic London-accented English, somewhat like a half-teacher to him.
Later, as he and Robert Stephens gradually fell out, his communication with Thomas also gradually reduced.
He loathed the adherence to conventions, the lifelessness, and the blind obedience of Robert Stephens’ surrounding people.
"Second Young Master."
The old man was slightly breathless when he rushed over, yet his clothes were impeccably neat, with the top button at the neck fastened meticulously. Upon seeing Edward Stephens, he greeted him.
Edward extinguished the cigarette between his fingers and said blandly, "He’s eating inside."
Through the transparent glass on the ward door, Thomas glanced inside and indeed saw George Stephens being fed by Daisy Ginger, his cheeks bulging, eating contentedly.
He breathed a sigh of relief and respectfully said to Edward Stephens, "I’ll take him away now."
Edward flicked the cigarette butt into the trash can without looking at him, just leaning against the wall with a calm and composed expression: "Let him finish eating first."
Thomas was slightly taken aback, couldn’t help but glance at Edward Stephens, then quickly withdrew his gaze and nodded in agreement: "Alright."
While waiting, Thomas explained to Edward Stephens.
"The young master had just run out, and I was looking for him. I didn’t expect he ran to you, Second Young Master, and I don’t know how he managed to get here on his own." Thomas couldn’t help but chuckle, a bit helpless, "The young master is too clever, even ten bodyguards can’t keep him in check..."
Seeing Edward Stephens’ indifferent expression, showing no intention to speak to him, Thomas also gradually quieted down, no longer discussing George Stephens with him.
After about ten minutes, Daisy Ginger came out of the room with George Stephens in her arms.
George Stephens, with a little round belly from eating, was held by Daisy Ginger, looking very well-behaved, just like an ordinary, slightly prettier three-year-old child.
"Young master, we should go back now." Thomas reached out his hand to him, "If we don’t go back soon, our sir will find out you’ve been running around again."
George Stephens lowered his long black eyelashes and obediently let Thomas take him back.
Snuggled in Thomas’s arms, he lifted his eyes to glance at Edward Stephens, saw that he wasn’t watching him, and then shifted his gaze back to Daisy Ginger.
"You promised me, you can’t trick me." He said to Daisy Ginger, "Or I’ll come looking for you next time!"
It’s just a toy, yet he’s so attached, truly just a little child.
Daisy Ginger smiled and said, "I know, I know."
"Thomas, we’re going back." He withdrew his gaze, no longer looking at Daisy Ginger, and instructed Thomas.
Thomas smiled and nodded to Daisy Ginger as a farewell, then left with George Stephens in his arms.
Daisy Ginger stood at the ward’s door, and after the old and the young both entered the elevator, she tugged Edward Stephens’ hand, "Are you hungry? I left you half of the meal, come in and eat."
Edward lowered his eyes, watching Daisy Ginger hold his hand, suddenly looked up at her and smiled gently, saying, "You’re good to every child except me."
"..." The smile on Daisy Ginger’s face paused slightly, looking at Edward Stephens’ calm and indifferent eyes.
There was no emotion in his eyes, he was just calmly looking at her, as if he was saying something meaningless.
