The sun has just climbed on the horizon, but it has not yet illuminated the dark Latin community. A van turns out of the T-junction and rushes into the narrow community road. In the glare of countless people, it finally stops in front of a dilapidated building.
The man on the co pilot picked up his mobile phone, dialed a number and said in a loud voice, "boss, the car has arrived. You can get off."
This phone call seems to be a prelude to the opening ceremony. The originally quiet building was boiling in an instant, and a large man came out of the building carrying a packed box.
Finally came out a Latin man with a lot of tattoos on his hand. He loudly reminded me, "you bastards, please pay attention to it. Handle it with care. The box is full of artworks!"
"Boss..." A bald black man went to the back door of the truck, handed the box to another man on it, turned back and pulled out a smile, "you just put your heart in your stomach, can this little thing still embarrass us?"
The sun rose from a small building behind the truck, and the ten thousand rays of light fell on the Negro''s head, reflecting a little bit of starlight. The Negro showed a smile, and his teeth looked very white. "Boss, I didn''t expect that you really knew the boss of the film company. Tell Mr. Stanton when we can show ourselves in the film."
Murphy just walked out of the building with a briefcase. "Next month, if you like."
Hearing this, the black man was stunned. Murphy went up to Ross and said, "but there''s no salary, no lines, and it''s going to be broken up."
There was a roar of laughter, and the black man felt his head embarrassed.
There are many people and great strength. The few boxes will be moved soon. The truck starts slowly and drives out of the Latin community towards Murphy''s new house.
It''s almost a week since I returned to Los Angeles. Apart from completely completing the deal with Miramax pictures, Murphy spent most of his time looking at the house with the real estate agent introduced by Robert. He had a lot of demands. The house should be used for both office work and temporary residence, and the price should not be too expensive. It took a while to look for it. Only yesterday did he sign a formal lease Contract.
This house is located on the border of Santa Monica and West Hollywood. It is an independent two-story building on the outside of the valley. The first floor area is about 150 square meters. There are two independent bedrooms with toilets and a study on the second floor, which fully meets Murphy''s requirements.
Located in a relatively good road, the house area is not small, and the rent is certainly not cheap. Murphy has to pay US $5500 a month, which still depends on Robert''s face.
Another thing that appeals to Murphy is that the house used to be the office of a small company. This company just moved to the office building not long ago, and many old desks, chairs and equipment were left behind. Originally, they were to be disposed of as waste products, and Murphy bought them at an extremely low price.
The truck passed through West Hollywood, passed through the green area of Santa Monica, and went west along the road full of palm trees. Finally, it stopped in front of the independent house. Murphy''s Ford also followed. He stopped the car, said hello to rose who was driving another car, and waved his hands to unload it.
Pushing open the iron gate and through less than 30 feet of slate Road, Murphy went up the high steps, took out the key, opened the door, waved to the back, and took the lead in.
Through the porch, there is a huge living room, but there is no sofa and other furniture in the living room. Instead, it is occupied by more than a dozen desks with partitions. These are all office equipment collected by Murphy, which seems to be a little old. However, before moving, he asked the house management company to clean it, which looks neat and orderly.
"This way..."
He went to the staircase leading to the second floor of the living room and opened a door. It was an underground storage room almost the size of the living room.
Except for a few useful things such as notebooks, they may not be used in a short time or even in the future.
These things can be put into the storage room first, and then he will sort them out slowly.
There are many people and great strength. The move was completed quickly. Murphy took them to a nearby restaurant. Anyway, as the host, they had to manage the food.
Last night, rose called him back and listened to Murphy''s talk about moving. He specially brought these people over.
In the restaurant, other people sit together to enjoy the barbecue, and Murphy and rose sit in a card seat alone, eating and chatting.
"So..."
Hearing Murphy talk about his experience at the Saint Denis Film Festival, rose looked up in surprise. "You invested more than 300000 dollars in films and sold one million dollars in the end?"
"Yes," Murphy said vaguely, chewing the delicious barbecue, "you should be able to see the movie in the cinema before long."
The volume of this film is small. Miramax film will not invest too much resources. After a simple publicity, it will push it into the cinema market, and later it will push it into the TV and video channels.
"The profit is so high?" Rose frowned, and his scarred face looked thoughtful. "The input-output ratio is amazing."Murphy swallowed the food in his mouth. "I''m just lucky. If I''m not lucky, these three hundred thousand dollars may become waste paper."
"No, no," Rose put down his knife and fork, raised his finger and shook it. "If one time is luck, so many times together, it can''t be explained by luck."
Since I met Murphy in prison, he has done so many unexpected things that Ross can''t count.
Murphy smiles, suddenly changes the subject and shouts to several people at the other table, "when my film is on, I''ll invite you to go to the cinema."
There was another laugh. The bald black man, obviously an activist, asked in a loud voice, "can I have some beautiful actresses with me? Don''t they say there are so many beautiful girls in Hollywood? "
Raising one hand, Murphy raised a high middle finger over there.
The sound of laughter rang out again.
Murphy shook his head, turned his head, and saw that rose was still thinking.
"Will you continue to make movies?" Rose looked at him and asked, "really?"
"Didn''t I tell you?" Murphy took a sip from her glass and changed her tone. "My future is in Hollywood."
Instead of teasing, Ross solemnly asked, "is there a new film plan?"
"There are some ideas." Murphy has always regarded him as his best friend, and he does not hide, "still sorting out, waiting for a while."
With a slight nod, rose said without warning, "I can invest in your new movie."
Murphy was surprised. He didn''t expect rose to have such an idea.
