CHAPTER 319: CHAPTER 319: DO YOU LIKE PEI SHU’ER?

Just as Shu’er was about to turn around and share a sweet moment with Tang Zan, she noticed that Tang Zan was holding her extremely tightly, as if trying to embed her in his body.

Immediately afterward, Tang Zan’s tone suddenly turned sinister.

"If you disappear, I’ll keep you locked by my side, won’t let anyone see you. You belong only to me, Shu’er."

These thoughts were what Tang Zan had kept hidden in his heart, thoughts he had never revealed to anyone, not even Shu’er.

He hoped that the impression he left in her heart was good, rather than these dark, hidden thoughts that couldn’t see light.

He had been suppressing them, but this time, Shu’er had been missing for a full seven days without a trace, and that uncontrollable rage in his heart surfaced once again.

Shu’er felt her scalp tingling; actually, the confession in the first sentence was enough. Adding the latter sentence made it impossible for her to feel warmth.

To be safe, she chose to go back to sleep.

Fortunately, it seemed Tang Zan had no intention of hurting her. As she instinctively tucked herself into his embrace, Tang Zan held her tightly and planted a kiss on her forehead.

When Shu’er woke up again, her door was knocked upon, and Tang Zan was no longer in the room.

Shu’er stepped out to find Yan Huan Yu, who was injured, along with his father.

Shu’er greeted them, "Hello, uncle."

Upon hearing her address, Father Yan immediately waved his hand.

"General’s Wife, this won’t do. We father and son have come to thank you. If not for your life-saving grace, we might not have returned."

Shu’er quickly waved her hand, but Father Yan handed over the food and herbs in his hands to her.

"These are what I picked from the mountain earlier. I hope the General’s Wife won’t disdain them."

Shu’er didn’t want to accept them, but Yan Huan Yu spoke up with a smile.

"Sister, please accept it. It’s a token of my father’s appreciation."

After Shu’er accepted it, she treated the injuries of Father Yan and Yan Huan Yu. Once the injuries were dealt with, the two took their leave.

Yan Huan Yu, however, seemed thoughtful.

In the following times, it was Lin Shiyao who came to change their dressings, and the two became familiar with each other over time.

Shu’er caught sight of them several times, and her lips couldn’t help but curl up.

See, even though she’d changed Tang Zan’s plot line, the male and female leads still met as destined, didn’t they?

She already felt a kind of joy from shipping couples.

According to the original plot, the male and female leads would discover each other’s merits during their interactions, and the female lead would realize that the male lead was a prince in disguise living among common people.

Driven by the female lead’s revenge-minded character, she would intentionally approach the male lead, and through coming and going, they would eventually fall for each other.

When Lin Shiyao and Yan Huan Yu went out alone, in the eyes of others, it looked like Commander Yan and Doctor Lin had developed a mutual interest and were off to a rendezvous.

But in their eyes, it was nothing like that.

Lin Shiyao said, "Commander Yan, do you like Shu’er?"

She still portrayed her pure and innocent demeanor, likening herself to a dainty little flower that evokes protectiveness.

Upon hearing this, Yan Huan Yu was stunned at first, then his cheeks flushed red, along with the roots of his ears.

He didn’t speak.

Lin Shiyao had guessed the truth from his reaction.

"The relationship between Tang Zan and Shu’er probably isn’t that simple. These two resemble two people cooperating just to get by. More importantly, they haven’t consummated their marriage."

Yan Huan Yu nodded, trusting Doctor Lin’s insight.

Lin Shiyao said, "It’s questionable for a married couple, who’ve been together for so long, to not consummate their marriage. Despite appearing closely knit now, they might just be acting for various reasons."

It was then that Yan Huan Yu spoke: "Actually, they didn’t even finish the wedding ceremony."

Lin Shiyao’s eyes lit up, exchanging a glance with Yan Huan Yu, and they saw determination in each other’s eyes.

From that day forward, Shu’er would often be cornered by Yan Huan Yu to change his dressings.

Besides, for such a sturdy child, boasting muscles and abdominal muscles, the wound healing was noticeably slow.

Shu’er had no choice but to use the Spiritual Spring Water on him.

Nonetheless, recovery was poor, with each time resulting in tearing wounds.

Shu’er sighed: "Yan Huan Yu, you should take a leave from your General to recuperate for a while."

Yan Huan Yu pouted slightly: "It’s impossible, Sister. Now’s the post-battle reconstruction phase; I can’t take leave. Should I request leave, the General might be displeased."

Shu’er said, "Alright, I’ll talk to him for you."

After all, he was still a child; he couldn’t be left with an untreated wound indefinitely. Over time, it would certainly harm his body.

As Shu’er was about to turn away, Yan Huan Yu took hold of her hand, feeling its delicate and smooth texture, making him reluctant to let go.

Just holding her hand sped up his heartbeat.

His sister was simply too enchanting.

But soon enough, he nonchalantly released her hand with a smile.

"Thank you, Sister."

Shu’er calmly nodded, Yan Huan Yu continued.

"Come for the dressing change tomorrow too, Sister. Honestly, others’ medical skills are really subpar."

Thinking about others’ medical abilities and Yan Huan Yu’s tricky wound, Shu’er nodded.

"Okay."

Then she carried the medicine chest to the General’s Mansion, to request leave for Yan Huan Yu.

Watching Shu’er from behind, Yan Huan Yu genuinely wished his injury wouldn’t heal soon.

That way, his sister could stay by his side longer.

But upon reaching the entrance of the General’s Mansion, she saw Tang Zan and Lin Shiyao standing together.

Lin Shiyao seemed to be offering Tang Zan some food, but Tang Zan looked annoyed, completely ignoring her.

As he was about to turn and enter the General’s Mansion, Lin Shiyao suddenly slipped, letting out a soft "yelp," so Tang Zan accelerated into the Mansion.

No empathy at all.

Just as Lin Shiyao was about to fall to the ground, a soldier, quick to act, caught her and, with a blush, returned to his post.

Shu’er watched this drama, feeling no internal ripples.

Lin Shiyao acted as if she hadn’t seen Shu’er, leaving in the opposite direction.

Having entered the General’s Mansion, Tang Zan sensed something and paused.

He turned around, meeting Shu’er’s gaze.

His lips formed a slight smile as he walked over to hold Shu’er’s hand.

Pulled her into the General’s Mansion, Shu’er’s smile softened.

Tang Zan casually said.

"Did you see what happened in front of the General’s Mansion just now?"

Shu’er nodded: "I saw it."

Tang Zan kept a stern face: "Don’t you have anything to say?"

Shu’er thought for a moment and shook her head; it seemed she really had nothing to say.

Wasn’t it just Lin Shiyao attempting to approach Tang Zan? Maybe she wanted him to become one of the fish in her pond.

Hadn’t she known this for a long time now?
