Third Person POV

...

That same morning, after Severus and Dumbledore in the headmaster's office, an owl went directly to the Ministry and turned the entire place into chaos after the letter reached the hands of the supreme chief, while they were already discussing who would be the next Minister of Magic.

That letter that came with the owl seemed to make them forget everything they had been debating up to that moment, since the second Minister of Magic in office dealing with the problem of the Death Eaters and the second Dark Lord had proven himself far too incompetent, even more so than his predecessor, whom he himself criticized for having helped Severus Snape.

The letter was from Severus, and he said that he would accept a trial in the court of wizards, sending this response directly to Vicência Santos, who looked at the letter surprised and strangely, with her stating that Severus had accepted her summons and asked for the hearing to be scheduled in 3 days, where he would explain everything before the wizarding world and accept a judgment.

This immediately spread like fire through the Ministry, and reporters crowded the door with questions and demands for answers, wanting to know what would happen, this shortly after Voldemort's death.

Meanwhile, the supreme chief, together with the minister, answered the questions trying to clarify everything.

In another place, however, a specific group also seemed surprised by Severus's response.

"Well, it looks like we won't fight him again, since he will surrender in the end."

The squad, the sentinels of the veil, had been entirely struck down by Severus. And now they were at St. Mungo's, while some of their companions were still lying in beds due to the injuries Severus had inflicted, they were in a room set aside just for them, as they discussed the latest events.

"Well, I hope they resolve this. I don't want to get involved with that guy anymore." Murmured the gnome, still remembering very well the previous night, when Severus Prince simply toyed with them, dealing with them as if they were just a bunch of children.

"Don't even mention it. That human is a monster. How does he have so much power? That can't have been just potions. No potion should give so much power to the human body." Said Lady ______, the vampire.

No one in the group managed to find an answer, with the gnome seeming to frown before finally saying.

"You know... when we were defeated, I saw something in the darkness of that castle, something no one had noticed, but even if we had set traps to catch him from the start... we never stood a chance against him." He said, with a look that made everyone hold their breath.

"The truth is..." he spoke slowly, "that we were surrounded the whole time. No one noticed, but there wasn't just one shadow as you might imagine. Since the reports state that he has an entire army sufficient to wipe out a hundred wizards, he hid all his shadows in the shadows of that castle. And when we were falling, I saw countless creatures of all shapes, some even more powerful than the shadow we faced at first, he could have exterminated us without even trying, he just toyed with us and still left us alive..." He seemed to have come out of a nightmare, perhaps he would never forget what he had seen.

Everyone fell silent. The image of countless eyes staring was still fresh in the gnome's mind.

"Do you think our superiors can handle Severus Prince? After all, it will be a trial... what if they want to condemn him?" _____ asked.

"I don't know... I hope it doesn't come to that. Severus Prince doesn't seem like someone who really wants to dominate the world or become a new Dark Lord. As ___ said, he could have killed us easily, but he didn't... He just seems to want to live his life, this thing with multiple marriages... To me, it looks like someone trying to live a normal life. Despite having killed Voldemort... there was some connection between that cup and the assassination of Voldemort, which happened in Azkaban after he left the castle...." Said the elderly man.

"Dumbledore also said that he guarantees Severus is not a bad person. He may have extreme ways, but he only eliminated dark creatures and dark wizards. There is no record of innocent people suffering at his hands." He finished.

"Well, let me see... We'll have to wait. In 3 days, the trial will begin. We'll have to keep an eye on it, Miss Vicência expects this from us. By the way, ____ any vision of the future you have, don't forget to share with the group. I want to be prepared for anything, whatever happens after this." ___ said.

In any case, the news was soon published in the newspaper. In just 3 days, the trial would take place. People who knew Severus, from outside or inside Hogwarts, or those who had only heard of him as the Slytherin student who had defeated most of his peers from other houses, even the older ones, beating them throughout the entire past year whenever they tried to bring him to his knees, were now commenting on the events, giving two opposing opinions.

Elsewhere, in Cokeworth, Lily looked at the newspaper in silence after receiving the Daily Prophet at her home. Wanting information about Voldemort, and his death that had happened during the night, the newspapers had only briefly mentioned it, but the new issue came quite different from what she had imagined at first.

"Something wrong, dear?" Miss Evans asked as she began making lunch, seeing Lily frown as she looked at the front page of the freshly arrived newspaper, while she lifted it and showed her mother the cover.

"Severus?!" Miss Evans looked surprised to see the headline.

On the very day they had reported the death of the dark wizard that many claimed to be the greatest of all, the new newspaper announced that Severus Snape had committed to going to trial in the court of wizards to clarify everything that had happened since the previous year.

"Oh, my God... Will he be alright?" Miss Evans said, worried about Severus's situation.

Lily's mother, on the day Severus had come to have lunch with them, noticed that her daughter had spoken with him outside and returned very hurt, heartbroken, and went straight to her room, unwilling to talk about what had happened, keeping herself in her room during most of the days that followed. She knew her daughter had been crying a lot in recent days.

She didn't look well at all, and she could only sigh, perhaps already imagining what might have happened. The strange and ironic thing was that Miss Evans had always known that Severus harbored feelings for Lily over the years. But after they fought, Severus had completely changed. The situation seemed to have reversed: while Severus did not return her daughter's feelings, there was not much she could say, after all, their lives were their own. She only sighed, looking at the newspaper.

"It was him who killed the Dark Lord, wasn't it, Lily?" She asked carefully.

"Everyone says so, even the newspaper mentions it. Now that the Dark Lord was killed by none other than Severus, he decided to clarify everything in a trial that will certainly be public for the entire wizarding world."

"If he's doing this, it means he has nothing to hide. He's not a bad person, as many paint him." Said Miss Evans firmly, as she had to attend to some aurors after Severus left her house with questions, while defending Severus, saying he was not the monster they were portraying him to be. That Severus who had lunch with them was not a ruthless killer who wanted to dominate the world.

At the same time, each household, wizard or muggle, also read the newspaper and had their own opinions. Some said Severus might be about to be condemned, others claimed he would come out innocent. After all, he alone defeated someone whose group had killed countless people and made several victims over the last few years. Others called him a monster, hoping he would go to Azkaban, as in the Potter residence.

"Look at this, James!" Said Sirius, staring at the newspaper with an incredulous look. "They're going to arrest Snivellus... finally!" James came closer to the newspaper, looking with a glimmer of satisfaction.

Severus was someone who had turned the Marauders' lives at Hogwarts into something completely different from what they were used to. That boy who had always suffered bullying through pranks had now become someone dangerous enough to threaten them, while all attempts to prank Severus had failed. He always came out on top of all attempts to embarrass him, humiliate him, or even show everyone how evil he was.

When they learned it was Severus Snape, the second Dark Lord who rivaled You-Know-Who... James shuddered, and he had been frightened when he saw the newspaper of the time, after Severus reappeared following his disappearance after the tournament they had at the Durmstrang Institute.

James only said that he knew Severus was a monster and that Lily was blind for being close to him, but he could not hide his fear after discovering the truth. Sirius, no matter how much he tried to keep up appearances, also could not help but shudder. Severus was the author of entire massacres, killing even pure-blood wizards, as had happened with his victims in Hogsmeade, as they called him in the beginning.

He felt fear. Fear of Severus Snape. Lupin had written to him, telling him never to mess with Severus again. Even Peter had sent a letter, stating that he would no longer try any pranks against him.

Fear weighed on them for the following days. If Severus wanted revenge, he could easily take it. After all, he had defeated the Dark Lord himself days earlier, in a battle that destroyed an entire part of the Ministry, while both exchanged spells. Everyone knew Voldemort's attack as the cursed fire he had unleashed, but what Severus used was beyond logic and the standards of wizards. A lightning bolt formed into the shape of a strange serpent, as shown in the newspaper photos.

"It was a snake... a blue snake, fighting against a snake of fire." James commented at the time after seeing the image in the newspaper. In the end of the battle, Severus remained standing, while the feared Dark Lord lay mutilated on the ground. Even Sirius could not help but show how disturbed he was by it. If Severus wanted revenge, not even James's father could protect them.

Dumbledore had said that Severus was an ally, something James could not understand. Severus himself had appeared before the Order of the Phoenix before disappearing after Voldemort's fall.

The members of the Order, gathered precisely to deal with him, were surprised when the arrival of the headmaster — whom everyone thought to be dead — appeared saying that they would not go after Severus, and that, for now, the threat had fallen along with Voldemort. In James's head, that made no sense at all. He wanted to yell at the headmaster, demand answers, but he never got them.

Now, Severus Snape would be ready to be judged by the court of wizards. James was certain he would be punished and thrown into Azkaban. That was what he expected.

"Too bad we won't be able to see the trial... I'd love to see Snivellus being judged." Said Sirius, in a tone of disappointment. Despite the fear of the last few days, he felt more relieved now that Severus would appear at the trial, they would arrest him and let him rot in Azkaban, right?

"That doesn't matter now. Severus and most of those snakes will no longer be at Hogwarts. We can have Hogwarts all to ourselves." Said James, while Sirius opened an even wider grin. They did not believe Severus would return to the school, so nothing would stop them from dominating Hogwarts from then on.

"I still can't believe this all happened. Snivellus became a pure-blood Lord... and not only that, he even has four brides. Can you believe Snivellus could ever attract a woman before?" Sirius mocked.

"That doesn't matter anymore. Soon he will be sent to Azkaban." Said James, as he continued looking at the cover photo of the newspaper, where the ministers and the supreme chief were speaking with the reporters. This would be the end of Severus — or, at least, that was what James believed.
