I Am Cultivating in the Apocalypse
Chapter 78: Who Doesn’t Have a Gun?
CHAPTER 78: WHO DOESN’T HAVE A GUN?
Gou Yitian suddenly realized he had been a bit too conspicuous and hastily scurried back, fawningly using his phone to light the way. "Brother Dari," he said, "be careful; the ground is sticky."
Brother Dari nodded. Perhaps I’m overthinking this, he thought. He followed behind and quietly pulled out his gun; better safe than sorry.
The same scene unfolded once again.
"Brother Dabi, where are you guys?"
"Damn, what’s this slippery stuff all over the ground? Can’t someone get a flashlight?"
No sooner had the people in front walked past the door than three giant nets smashed down. The rest of the group following them were suddenly immobilized as they walked. At the same time, Mr. Jing, Jing Shu, and the repeating crossbows inside the Magic Cube Space began to fire, THWIP! THWIP! These unprepared people were caught off guard, eliciting screams and various curses.
The large nets ensnared a total of eight people, while the steel rings at the doorway trapped all of the remaining seven. This time it was much easier than the last; these people were unprepared and fewer in number.
"Damn it, Brother Dabi, have you betrayed us? Where is that woman?! Were you bought off?" Gou Yitian yelled resentfully.
"Brother Dabi, let’s talk this over, just talk it over. If you want Big Brother’s position, I’ll give it to you, just let us go first."
As Brother Dari struggled to free himself from the steel rings, he raised his handgun and took aim.
The dim light from the phone revealed that the people in front had been riddled with projectiles, resembling hedgehogs, and now lay motionless on the ground. Seeing this, the few who were merely immobilized sank to the ground in fright. Suddenly, they felt their hands were sticky. Looking down, they saw it. "It’s blood! The floor is covered in blood!"
In the darkness, Jing Shu clearly saw the handgun in Brother Dari’s hand, her eyes shining ever brighter.
She released Brother Dabi and kicked him away. "Your task is done; you can go now."
Mr. Jing said anxiously, "We can’t let him go." Jing Shu put her index finger to her lips. "Shh, just watch."
Brother Dabi appeared in the dim phone light, looking utterly wretched. A miserable smile on his face, he staggered towards the door. "They’re dead, all dead! They’re all dead!"
"What happened? Explain yourself!"
"They were all killed! They’re devils, too terrible! That woman made me deceive you. If you’re to blame anyone, blame her."
Brother Dabi walked faster. "I want to go home. I’m done with this. As for that talk about establishing a new social order, let him do it."
Brother Dabi passed the immobilized men and ran into the darkness.
He escaped.
BANG!
A gunshot sounded. Brother Dari turned and fired a shot at the back of the fleeing man’s head. Brother Dabi paused for a few seconds before falling down.
"So, you just obediently lured us here?" Brother Dari sneered. Suddenly, he also heard loud BANG! BANG! sounds, followed by an excruciating pain in his body as he fell backward, his handgun flung from his grasp.
Jing Shu ran out from the darkness and, with a quick somersault, retrieved the handgun from the ground. Only then did the remaining men see the woman Gou Yitian had spoken of.
Great, another gun, Jing Shu thought, pocketing the weapon. Seeing a few men, still harboring ill intentions, making phone calls for help, she twisted their necks without a second thought.
Brother Dari lay on the ground, watching wide-eyed as Jing Shu dealt with each person one by one, then started tossing the bodies out from the villa. Only then did he understand why Brother Dabi had called her a devil. Could she really have annihilated all of them so easily?
Gou Yitian shook his head in terror. "Impossible, this is impossible! Damn it!" He knew he was doomed. So, the woman who visited his house today had actually shown him mercy? Is this her true face?
"Help!" Gou Yitian howled.
Jing Shu walked over holding several wet sheets of paper. First, she tied up the squirming Gou Yitian, then shook the papers in her hand, saying, "Do you know what this is?"
Gou Yitian shook his head in fear.
"Ever heard of Tie Jia?" Jing Shu narrowed her eyes. It was this person who had brought dozens of robbers. She should have dealt with him sooner; then none of this would have happened.
Gou Yitian frantically shook his head in panic. Who will save me? Anyone!
"It involves placing wet papers on your face, one sheet at a time, until you suffocate. I hear it’s much more painful than just snapping your neck. I was planning to send you on your way tonight anyway. It’s not too late now."
Gou Yitian finally broke down and cried from fear.
Brother Dari swallowed hard. He’d been shot in the abdomen and his right chest; the pain was so intense he couldn’t move at all. He knew he was done for today. Just let it be quick, he thought, closing his eyes. If he could choose, he would prefer his neck to be snapped, but unfortunately, his wish was not to be granted.
Just then, the sound of police sirens filled the air. Soon, three or four patrol cars arrived at the villa, and more than thirty armed Armed Police officers alighted. Jing Shu silently stashed the two handguns into her Magic Cube Space and greeted Minister Niu, who was hurriedly getting out of his car.
Mrs. Jing also came out of the villa upon hearing the commotion.
"Minister Su, Jing Shu, is your family all right?" Minister Niu asked. "I hurried over as soon as I heard the news. I hope I’m not too late. What are the casualties?"
"We’re fine, we’re fine. We averted a disaster," Mrs. Jing said, thanking Minister Niu and shaking his hand.
Minister Niu had originally braced himself for the worst. Hearing that at least dozens of knife-wielding robbers had surrounded the villa, he knew the situation was dire. This time, he feared he might only be collecting bodies.
But he had resolutely swallowed his pride and begged his good friend to bring reinforcements. However, he hadn’t expected...
Hmm? How does it seem like Jing Shu has them under control? This isn’t right, is it? And whose bodies are these all over the ground? Minister Niu wondered.
More than thirty Armed Police officers encircled the front of Jingshu’s house, gazing strangely at the bodies piled together and the two remaining living people lying on the ground.
Gou Yitian exhaled a long breath and cried out with tears of joy, "Help! I’m finally saved! This woman is a devil! She killed dozens of people, and she was about to kill me too! Quick, arrest her!"
"What is this?" a young Armed Police officer beside Minister Niu asked, puzzled. "Didn’t we come to rescue people? Where are the ones who needed rescuing? And where are the knife-wielding robbers?"
"Let me introduce you," Minister Niu said to everyone. "This is Major Yang Yang of the Armed Police unit. It was thanks to his help that we could bring so many people."
Faced with Major Yang’s question, Jingshu’s family didn’t know how to respond for a moment. Jing Shu coughed and said, "These piled-up bodies belong to the knife-wielding robbers. This is Gou Yitian. He’s the one who brought dozens of men from ’Biri’ to try and take over our residential complex. And this is Brother Dari, one of their leaders."
"It’s ’Biri’?" Major Yang Yang’s eyes lit up. "What a coincidence! He isn’t dead yet, is he?"
"No."
"Then we’ll take this person." Major Yang Yang grabbed Brother Dari. "Hey, you should know that person’s whereabouts, right?"
"Who are you talking about? I don’t know!" Brother Dari gritted his teeth.
"I don’t know if you’re aware," Major Yang Yang continued, "but a cow can be injected with dozens of pounds of water and survive. However, if a human is injected with just three pounds of water, the pain is so excruciating they’ll wish for death..."
