I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 565 - 563: Illusion Dream Core
CHAPTER 565: CHAPTER 563: ILLUSION DREAM CORE
"Help me..."
The enormous face of the White King loomed close to Lin Yan, yet it spoke not with words, but directly conveyed its thoughts.
Lin Yan immediately felt a surge of compassion. She reached out to touch the White King’s face, its skin incredibly smooth yet also very hard, differing from its perceived texture. The White King’s skin was more akin to ceramic but bendable, quite peculiar.
"This—is this His doing?!" Lin Yan’s heart skipped a beat.
The White King nodded and continued, "Help me, I’m fading... Help me."
"How can I help you? I’m just a... normal person, I’m not Him, I don’t have that kind of power." Lin Yan was also very anxious.
"You can..." said the White King.
"What do I have to do?!" Lin Yan asked.
"Lend me your body..." the White King said.
Lin Yan’s mind suddenly exploded with refusal and she said, "No! Do you mean... possession?!"
The White King seemed anxious, dragging its half body forward slightly. Lin Yan thought it was becoming desperate, intending to impose itself forcibly, so she turned and ran.
Indeed, a Heavenly Falling Object! So-called help meant lending it her life!
After running a few steps, Lin Yan heard the White King start to sob "wu wu wu", crying, "No! Not that! Don’t go!"
She continued to run, but the White King pleaded tearfully from behind. In the end, Lin Yan’s heart softened, and she stopped, looking back from a distance at the White King shrouded in darkness.
"Explain yourself clearly! What exactly are you going to do?!" Lin Yan said.
The White King replied, "I’ll dwell in your body, temporarily."
"I don’t understand. What do you mean by dwelling inside my body?" Lin Yan asked.
"Possession, I can pause, and you can move," the White King said.
Its grasp of human language was not deep, its word choice and phrasing overly vague. Lin Yan still couldn’t fathom its intent.
"I guess, what you mean is that you’ll possess me, and then... we’ll merge into one?" Lin Yan asked.
"I’ll stay in your heart, and you may, use my power, as... compensation," the White King said.
"Your power...? Like... reversing time?" Lin Yan said.
"Yes, ensuring your safety," replied the White King.
She roughly understood the White King’s meaning. After the possession, it could temporarily save its own life while she might gain its superpower to control time?! But, could this be without consequence? Wouldn’t playing with time cause disasters?
"Right! After you possess me, will my appearance change?" Lin Yan asked.
If after the possession, she turned into a white-skinned, bald woman, that would be laughable.
"No... I’ll be in your heart, you will still be you," the White King said.
Lin Yan’s lips curled up slightly. After all, the power was too tempting. With it... was there anything she couldn’t accomplish?
"Then... can I use your power to find Him? Perhaps, the secret to further human advancement lies within Him," Lin Yan said.
As though frightened, the White King quickly replied, "No! Don’t! You can’t match Him!"
Seeing the White King so agitated, Lin Yan was puzzled. "You can pause time, go back in history; why fear Him? If I can return to before the fall of ’Zero Nine Zero’... perhaps... He would no longer exist? And I could directly study ’Zero Nine Zero’..."
Without yet possessing the superpower, Lin Yan already pondered various possibilities.
Everyone knew that controlling time was the most powerful ability, far more potent than pure violence. Directly altering cause and effect was supreme.
Denying history, rewriting the future, erasing anything one found unsatisfactory... Lin Yan turned back to see that the White King had crawled up close to her.
The White King said, "He... is inevitable..."
"Inevitable?" Lin Yan didn’t understand.
"He will always exist... no matter what you do..." the White King said.
"Why? That doesn’t make sense. Could it be... even going back 30 years, killing Him as an infant would not stop Him?" Lin Yan asked.
"Having encountered Him... seeing everything... the Chapter’s end is fixed, He is the last sentence," the White King said.
"I don’t quite understand... but if I had your power, I would go and see," Lin Yan said.
""
The White King said, "Don’t get close, hide... promise me."
Lin Yan certainly didn’t want to miss this opportunity, but if she didn’t agree, the White King might not lend her his power.
So, she lied...
"Okay, I promise you," Lin Yan said.
As soon as her words fell, the colossal White King vanished without a trace, silently, as if he had never existed.
"Are you... still there?" Lin Yan tentatively asked.
But in the empty underground space, there was only her echo.
She walked forward a bit, and that large puddle of pink, viscous liquid on the ground also disappeared, as if the White King had never been there.
At that moment, she finally realized that in this pitch-dark underground, she was the only living creature, and suddenly she felt a chill run down her spine.
How am I going to get out?
"Come inside first."
Suddenly, the voice of the White King appeared in her mind, startling Lin Yan.
"Ah! You! Are you inside my... my body?" Lin Yan asked tentatively.
"I am... inside. You can come in too," the White King said.
"Then how do I... how do I get inside?" Lin Yan asked, puzzled.
At that moment, a small ball of light, about the size of a coffee bean, white in color, appeared out of thin air in front of her.
The ball of light was spinning rapidly and then, suddenly, it turned into a portal with a whoosh!
The portal was oval-shaped, like a mirror, a painting.
The reflection in the mirror didn’t show Lin Yan’s figure, but a blurry scene, and around the portal, blue tendrils of light twisted.
Lin Yan was very curious. She walked around the gate of light and discovered that no matter where she moved, the passageway faced her.
She immediately understood that this was a gateway to a higher-dimensional space.
Since the White King had invited her, she hesitated no longer, pursed her lips, and bravely stepped through.
Just as she entered, Lin Yan found herself at the edge of a cliff that descended downward. She stood on the brink, and below the cliff, just like the sky, was a churning sea of green-blue clouds.
Although there was the sound of wind around her, she couldn’t feel even the slightest breeze. She followed the only path winding its way down. Midway down the cliff, there was a small circular plateau, and behind the plateau, on the mountainside, was an apartment building.
The apartment looked very familiar—it was the same as her home in Yin Country!
The White King was lying at the edge of the circular plateau. It was only half a body, floating at the cliff’s edge, forearms resting on the plateau. It seemed that it was no longer in pain and listless as it had been outside.
Lin Yan came before the White King and said, "What place is this?"
"The Illusion Dream Core, constructed from your memories, your dreams," the White King said.
"I recognize the apartment, but the cliff... and this rolling sea of clouds... I have no recollection of them," Lin Yan said.
"They belong to me," the White King said.
"Can you slowly heal here?" Lin Yan asked.
"No, but I can stop," the White King said.
"I understand. You’re hiding in here, so your injuries won’t worsen... I’ll find a way to heal you, I promise," Lin Yan said.
"Thank you. Love you," the White King said, its seven eyes narrowing as if it were smiling.
That was quite refreshing...
Suddenly, Lin Yan thought of something and asked, "Then! Where am I right now?"
The White King said, "You’re here."
Lin Yan shook her head and said, "No, no! I mean, I went through the portal, so what’s happening outside? Am I still out there?"
Had her physical body left the world, or was it astral projection, with her body left behind in a stupor? If it was the latter, that would be rather serious...
The White King shook his head and said, "You are here, outside, everything has stopped."
