I Am The Only Witch Hunter
Chapter 223: Byproducts
CHAPTER 223: CHAPTER 223: BYPRODUCTS
Agility. One of the two main core prowess of a witch hunter, along with strength. It decided the capability of which a witch hunter could cause harm to his prey.
Endurance, Stamina, and Perception could also contribute to a witch hunter’s power. But they were more subtle and affected indirectly.
Siderius didn’t have much difficulty in creating the Lynx Anabolism as his herbs reserve had enough replacement ingredients for the recipe.
The Lynx Anabolism was created within a day. And with that, Siderius gained another small amount of True Aether.
Whenever he discovered something new, whether it was knowledge, or a new type of formula, or a replacement for an old formula, even training techniques and unique wisdom, he would gain True Aether.
Not that he needed much at the moment as the amount of knowledge and wisdom he gathered were more than enough to get him to Gold, even Platinum. But still, no alchemist would refuse more True Aether.
The byproduct of the Lynx Anabolism was a unique solution that could bring up the body heat of any living being when consumed. It was perfect to keep yourself warm in the winter.
Siderius sat in his office. In front of him were three distinct bottles. These weren’t tonics but rather their byproducts.
Because Siderius had replaced the sub reagents, the residues and byproducts might also change. He had already tested the effect of these bottles.
The first dark brown liquid was the byproduct of the Wolverine Anabolism. Originally, the formula created Canis Vestigium, which could ward off beasts and certain spirits.
The new byproduct was similar but in an entirely different way. It produced a stench so vile, it would drive any man, woman, and beast away. However, it would quickly fade away and lose all of the original’s Vestigium warding capability.
Siderius named this new byproduct Canis Fetorium, simply because it was very stinky.
The hunter tapped his finger on the table in deep thoughts. "I don’t have a lot of Canis Fetorium. If I want to sell this, I must sell it like a premium product. The ability to ’shock’ your enemy isn’t that alluring when this kingdom has witches.
The only one who would buy this is the human nobles, citizens, and commoners. Citizens and commoners don’t have enough money for a premium product. Human nobles won’t buy this thing. They can just buy some charm or curse from witches.
I can just use this tiny amount I have to produce a new bomb projectile. I also have the Brick Bean, which is a residue of the Deer Anabolism Tonic. It can also make a perfect pellet bomb.
Let’s keep the Canis Fetorium for my personal use. No point in selling."
Siderius moved his eyes to the second bottle. Cervid Libidium. Fortunately the byproduct of the new Deer Anabolism formula stayed the same. It created a strong aphrodisiac for male and boosted their sexual stamina to an entire new level.
"This I can sell. I bet no one has this kind of product. It can be sold for ten to even twenty silver coins each. More than twenty would be too much for a bottle of medicine.
No... I will sell it for thirty silver coins. This byproduct can only be made in late autumn and early winter, when the antlers of deer are the biggest. It is a seasonal item. I can put that in the advertisement also.
It can also easily be mass produced as well. Instead of making the high-grade Cervid Libidium, low-grade aphrodisiac can also be made with other buck organs. Ashe can use this opportunity as a learning curve and practice her skill in making spirits.
I will design a new formula for this. Let’s call it Lesser Cervid Libidium. I will be sold for five silver coins each. A taste of the good stuff before the real thing."
The Cervid Libidium also only affected male so it would prevent a lot of tragedy this aphrodisiac might cause. The noble wouldn’t be able to use it on any poor peasant girl.
"Finally..." Siderius glanced at the final bottle. Lynx Calorium. The liquid that could warm yourself on a cold winter night.
"This can also be mass produced. But needs to be done with care. Lynxes have a much more difficult time reproducing than deers. Killing too many would wipe it out of this part of the kingdom."
Witch hunters might kill beasts to strengthen themselves. But they also knew to preserve the population of the beast. Without preservation, if that animal went extinct, no more spirits could be made in the future. Worse, mutations could also go extinct.
This had happened so many times that a law was passed in Siderius’ old world to protect certain species.
"This actually can also be sold as a premium item. It has no real world value but it can remove the discomfort of the cold winter. A bottle for ten silver coins each is reasonable. I can give Ashe the task to make this bottle also."
Some of the residues of the tonic were also useful. But their amount was so small that Siderius didn’t even consider selling them. It wasn’t profitable.
"Thesr are the small coins. Now to the big coins.
Guard! Summon the Steward, the Advisor, and the Bailiff to me!"
Siderius shouted and immediately, someone answered from outside the door. "Yes, my lord!"
Henry had filled up the Military Personnels a lot. There were enough guards to spread them out in the castle. Siderius was the most dangerous person in his domain but a guard was needed to be his servant. He could help him with some errands just like delivering a message.
Soon, George, Nadia and Roland entered the room.
"You called us, my lord?" George bowed his head.
Siderius nodded. "I want to check up on how we are doing with the resources gathering."
Nadia stepped up. "Everything is going fine, my lord. Firewoods are being stacked up for the winter. We should have enough for the entire winter within one or two weeks. I have also appointed miners to the bandits camp near Rose Springs that we took over. We have established a new mining colony there.
We haven’t brought people back to the Rocky Pit like you said. So we’re lacking salt. The Rose Springs also have rock salts but it is much rarer than Rocky Pit.
The Rose Springs have more rare gems and ores but lacks metals and rock salts. While the Rocky Pit is the opposite."
Siderius looked over to Roland. "And the hunters group?"
He’s referring to actual hunters that went out hunting for meat. Not witch hunters.
"We’re stacking food well, my lord. We only kill the beast you allow as you have ordered. However, we do have problems regarding the crops." Roland stepped forward.
"It is too cold to grow anything, right? They all die when winter comes."
"That is correct, my lord."
"Don’t worry. I already have a solution for this. I will bring you the seed for the crops soon. They will be able to survive winter."
Roland’s brow furrowed. He had never heard of a crop that could survive winter but he knew Siderius could make such a thing happen so he didn’t voice his doubts.
"I will be returning to Mucktown in one week. The Royal Treasurer should come very soon. If I have their approval, my position in the Royal Court will be finalized.
Coins decided everything after all.
Nadia, prepare volunteers that want to return to the Rocky Pit. Tell them that they will have a salary for working there. Also, prepare a group of builders to follow us as well. We will build new houses and structures for the mining colony. Those tents are a disgrace.
This is also a task like before. Not an eternal servitude like what Germort did. Anyone can come. No pressure. You got that?"
"Yes, my lord!" Nadia bowed her head.
"Roland, George. I will be writing a letter to the Baron of Scalize to establish a new trade route with them. The former trading merchants are horrendous. You work out the details with the Baron when you come to Scalize. We will sell metals, gems, and rare ores. Even firewood if they need it. And also premium potions."
"Yes, my lord!" George and Roland bowed.
"The meeting is finished. You are dismissed."
