CHAPTER 106: CHAPTER 106: I’LL SHOW YOU (3)

Vera Wave looked up in confusion. Seeing the man’s ashen face, she quickly averted her gaze.

Before she could answer, Kris Cooper had already turned and walked out of the bedroom. A series of CLINKS and CLANGS echoed from the living room.

Nervously, Vera Wave looked towards the door. When she saw his figure enter, she hastily buried her face again.

Reaching out, he took her hand and lifted something in front of her eyes.

"From now on, you are mine!"

Vera Wave looked up. Pinched between his fingers was a piece of paper—not an ordinary note, but a check.

Before she could make out the number of zeros on it, the man was roaring over her head again.

"If you dare let any man touch you, I..."

Vera Wave lifted her face, and upon seeing his raised hand, she involuntarily cringed.

"I’ll kill that guy first, then..." Kris Cooper’s hand clenched, making a sharp CRACK in mid-air. He hesitated for a moment, but ultimately, he couldn’t bring himself to utter the harsh words he intended. "Then I’ll make you pay!"

Meeting her gaze, he furrowed his brows and growled, "What are you looking at? Drink your water!"

That foolish girl! If she didn’t have her key, why didn’t she come back for it instead of just freezing out there? He’d heated water for her to drink, not for her to just stare at! The mere thought made him grit his teeth.

Vera Wave hurried to comply, bringing the cup to her lips. The water was quite hot, and she only managed a small sip before stopping.

The man roared again, "Drink it all in one go!"

She pouted resentfully. "It’s so hot, how can I drink it?"

Even if he bought her, he can’t just abuse her like this, can he?

Grumbling inwardly, she nevertheless brought the cup to her lips again and sipped cautiously.

Just as she took a small sip, a hand reached out and snatched the cup away. Holding it, the man turned and walked off.

Just as I feared, rebellion has its consequences. Now he won’t even let me drink water.

Just as she was silently regretting her outburst, the cup was brought back to her. Surprised and unprepared, she couldn’t react before it was pressed to her lips and tilted.

She quickly raised her hand to steady it and took a tentative sip.

The water was lukewarm, just the right temperature—not scalding, yet still pleasantly warm.

Chilled to the bone, she immediately began to take large gulps without hesitation.

After finishing the water, she noticed a faint streak of blood on the cracked side of the cup. She quickly checked her own palm—it was unscathed.

Startled, she quickly looked towards Kris Cooper by the bed. Sure enough, his hand was bloody.

Just as she was about to speak, a hand reached out, took the cup from her, and the man left the bedroom.

He returned a moment later, holding a towel in his left hand and a hairdryer in his right.

"Your hand..."

Vera Wave looked up to speak, but a towel was already being draped over her head, gently dabbing the water from her hair. Kris Cooper then turned on the hairdryer and began to dry it for her.

She wanted to say something again, but he raised his hand and pushed her head down.

"Don’t move!"

The hairdryer hummed steadily, its warm airflow blowing through her hair, gradually drying the cold, damp strands.

He casually ran a hand through her hair. Confirming it was completely dry, Kris Cooper put the hairdryer away.

"Mr. President..."

"Sleep!"

The man tersely uttered two words before walking out and firmly closing the door behind him.

Once again, CLINKS and CLANGS echoed from outside, and then all fell silent.

Vera Wave curled up under the blanket, straining her ears. After a long while with no sound of his movements, she couldn’t help but feel a little worried.
