CHAPTER 182: CHAPTER 183: THE PRESIDENT IS ANGRY (4)
Catching Vera Wave’s expression in the corner of his eye, Kris Cooper frowned in displeasure.
Picking up on his slight frown, Kylo Sail’s lips twitched into a faint smile. She was convinced Cooper’s grim expression stemmed from his distaste for Vera.
It seems her chances have improved a bit!
Vera looked up, surveying the room.
The conference room fell silent. All eyes were on her. Despite the throbbing pain in her forehead where she’d bumped it, she forced a smile, instinctively glancing at Kris Cooper once more.
He remained as expressionless as before, making her chest feel tight and a little uncomfortable.
"I... I’m sorry."
Apologizing to everyone, she stood up and walked to the projection screen. Merlin Bradley rose to turn off the lights, and Wendy helped Vera open her PowerPoint presentation.
Vera took a deep breath, steadying her emotions.
"The theme of my proposal is ’home.’ This project in Pingli District is a residential comfort and safety initiative. The community has a long history, and the buildings are quite old. Many residents have lived there for over ten years, some even for several decades... Their greatest wish is to return because it’s not just a collection of buildings to them—it’s their home. Therefore, the core of my proposal is human-centric care for the residents..."
Initially, she was a little nervous, but she quickly found her rhythm, her face gradually lighting up with a radiant confidence and charm.
"That concludes my proposal and my ideas. Thank you, everyone!"
Bowing to the assembled group, Vera turned and walked back to her seat.
Everyone clapped, including her rivals. After all, with the president present, no one dared to be overtly disrespectful.
The only person in the room who didn’t move, apart from Vera, was Kris Cooper. He was sitting in his chair, engrossed in a mobile game.
Although his phone was on silent, the vibrations were still audible.
Noticing this small detail, Vera pursed her lips and slumped back into her chair, dejected.
This proposal was partly his work too, but now he didn’t even offer her a basic clap. He must be truly disappointed in her.
Kylo Sail stood up and began to present her own proposal.
Vera barely registered what Kylo was saying, her fingers unconsciously flipping through the documents in her hands.
"Alright, now that both parties have finished their presentations, if anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask them." Kate Palmer scanned the room, her gaze settling on Kris Cooper. "President Cooper, do you have any questions?"
Kris Cooper straightened up slightly. "Kylo Sail, what is the budget for your proposal?"
"Including celebrity actors and all post-production special effects... it should be around ten million," Kylo replied.
Hearing his voice, Vera quickly looked over, waiting for him to question her.
At the end of the long table, Kris Cooper had already leaned back languidly in his chair, returning to his mobile game without sparing her a glance.
The Director of the Finance Department took a shallow breath and looked at Vera. "Miss Wave, what is your budget?"
"Ah..." Vera hadn’t expected the question to be directed at her so suddenly. She paused, momentarily stunned, before she managed to reply, "I... I only need one million."
Across the table, Kylo Sail let out a soft chuckle.
Is she joking? This project is worth hundreds of millions, and her advertising proposal is only for one million? Does she think Ashton is short on cash?
The Director of the Finance Department raised an eyebrow. "You really only need one million?"
