I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO
Chapter 242 - 243: Take It Off!
CHAPTER 242: CHAPTER 243: TAKE IT OFF!
A pampered young lady like her didn’t know how to haggle. Managing to get twenty off the price was already a huge victory in her eyes.
Things were fine until the dress was mentioned. But once it came up, Kris Cooper’s temper finally snapped.
"Take it off!"
Two words—earth-shattering.
Vera Wave jumped, startled. He had already strode past her, ripped off his apron, and thrown it to the ground. He then marched into the living room and slammed the door shut.
"Kris!"
Vera rushed to the door, nearly getting her nose smashed by it as he slammed it shut.
She raised her hand to push the door open, but then she noticed her dress. Pursing her lips, she quickly turned and ran to the backyard to change out of it.
Back in the front yard, she tiptoed to the living room entrance. Peeking through the glass window, she didn’t see Kris Cooper anywhere.
She left the living room and searched around, eventually finding her way to the dining room. On the table, candlelight flickered, illuminating roses and a well-arranged salad. Nearby, a bowl held steak marinating in red wine.
There was no sign of the housekeeper. Clearly, Kris Cooper had prepared all of this; he must have wanted to surprise her.
Vera’s gaze lingered on the candlelight for a moment. Then she turned, ran out, and rushed to the main entrance, pulling the door open.
Outside, Kris Cooper’s car was still there.
He hadn’t left. So where could he be?
She went back inside and searched room by room.
When she reached the gym door, she finally heard sounds coming from inside.
Not daring to open the door, she tiptoed to the window. Through the glass, she saw Kris Cooper wearing boxing gloves, forcefully punching a suspended punching bag.
"A one-hundred-and-eighty-dollar skirt! And she calls it pretty? It’s hideous!"
"Wearing a new dress, putting on lipstick, going to the Amusement Park... And what was that about ’I won’t leave until I see you’?"
"That damned girl!"
"Stupid girl... Blockhead..."
As he pummeled the punching bag, Kris Cooper kept muttering his complaints. He was furious but couldn’t bring himself to unleash his anger on her, so he took it out on the punching bag instead.
Vera, outside the window, listened to his intermittent curses. Knowing he was truly angry, she carefully walked to the door and knocked gently.
Kris Cooper was so focused on the punching bag that he didn’t hear her at all.
She quietly pushed open the door, grabbed a bottle of mineral water for him, and picked up a towel from the rack. Then, she approached his side, hoping to appease him by offering to wipe his sweat.
"Honey, you must be tired. Have some..."
Kris Cooper hadn’t noticed her at all. As he swung his right arm back, his elbow connected squarely with her face.
THWACK!
The water bottle went flying. Vera crumpled to the ground, clutching her nose.
Hearing the sound, Kris Cooper spun around. He saw her crouched on the floor, both hands pressed to her nose, her eyes brimming with tears.
"Vera!" Panicked, he rushed over and took her hands. "Move your hands! Let me see!"
He pulled her hands away and carefully examined her small nose. Confirming it wasn’t bleeding or broken, Kris Cooper finally let out a sigh of relief.
"Are you an idiot? Who told you to come near me?!"
The impact sent a sharp, stinging pain through her nose, and she couldn’t stop the tears from flowing.
"I was just trying to calm you down."
"You fool!"
Kris, both angry and concerned, helped her to the sofa. He was about to get up to fetch an ice pack for her nose when Vera quickly reached out and grabbed his hand.
