CHAPTER 275: CHAPTER 276: WHO IS THE MALICIOUS FEMALE SUPPORTING CHARACTER (4)
"Thanks for the compliment."
At the door, Kris Cooper’s voice carried a hint of roguish amusement.
"You..." Vera Wave turned around, glanced at Kris Cooper, already dressed in a shirt and trousers, standing outside. She got so angry that she slammed the door shut with her foot. "Eavesdropping on someone muttering to themselves, you pest!"
"Open the door."
"No!"
"Aren’t you going to the morning shoot?"
Upon hearing this, she immediately pulled open the door and rushed out.
Noticing a smear of toothpaste at the corner of her lip, Kris Cooper helped her wipe it off and draped his sweater over her shoulders.
"It’s cold in the morning; don’t catch a cold."
Pulling the coat tightly around herself, Vera Wave followed him outside and took her seat in the passenger side. She looked at the villa beside them before asking.
"Where is this?"
"One of my houses." Kris Cooper started the car. "In the back seat, I’ve got some food for you. It’ll do for breakfast."
She turned her head and sure enough, there was a large brown paper bag on the seat, filled with various pastries and her favorite snacks.
She had drunk a bellyful of alcohol the previous night and was already starving. Without ceremony, she took a piece of cake, brought it to her lips, took a large bite, and then pointed at the road ahead. "Just park the car over there; don’t let anyone see."
With such a flashy car, if anyone saw it, wouldn’t they immediately find out about her and him?
Kris Cooper did as she said, stopped the car, took the bag from the back seat, and handed it to her.
"From now on, you’re not allowed to drink a single drop of alcohol when you’re out. And call me every two hours to report your status."
The entertainment industry was a mixed bag of people. He couldn’t rest easy seeing her so drunk; she was naive enough that someone could sell her and she’d still help them count the money.
"A call every two hours? Isn’t that a bit much?!"
Kris Cooper turned, his tone imperious. "Otherwise, I’ll come visit you on set myself."
"You’re so busy, don’t trouble yourself." She gave him a placating smile. "How about... four hours?"
Kris Cooper raised an eyebrow. "Just try being one minute late!"
He wouldn’t go easy on her at a time like this.
Her face fell instantly. "Alright, I know!"
Clutching the large bag of snacks, she got out of the car. She took a few steps forward, then turned back to his car window. Kris Cooper rolled down the window, and she beamed her sweetest smile at him.
"Honey, can I text instead? It would save on call charges."
That little rascal, haggling with him over a few cents for call charges.
Kris Cooper’s eyebrow twitched, and he roared, "No!"
"No means no! What are you yelling about?"
She made a face at him before turning and jogging off toward the hotel.
It was still early morning, and there were hardly any pedestrians on the road. Kris Cooper, still worried about her going back alone, started the car and slowly followed her down the road.
Vera Wave ran all the way to the hotel courtyard and immediately saw two police cars parked there. In the courtyard, staff from the other production crews were already downstairs, waiting for their transport and discussing something.
"What’s going on?" Vera Wave went over to a familiar set worker and asked curiously.
The set worker jerked his chin towards the lobby. "I heard someone reported prostitution in the hotel. They’re here to make arrests."
"It couldn’t be some big superstar, could it?" someone nearby asked in a hushed voice.
"I don’t know. Anyway, I heard they went straight to the 15th floor, but no idea which room. The 15th floor has all the luxury suites, so whoever’s staying there is definitely no small fry." The set worker watched with a look of avid curiosity. "See those journalists? If it really is some big shot, they’re toast this time!"
