I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO
Chapter 85 I Mean You
CHAPTER 85: CHAPTER 85 I MEAN YOU
"Manager Wang!" Upon seeing Manager Wang, Emily Baker’s demeanor changed instantly. "What brings you here? You aren’t looking for me, are you? You could have just called if there was anything..."
"I’m not here for you." Manager Wang glanced at her, then her gaze fell upon Vera Wave. "You must be Vera Wave?"
Manager Wang was a significant figure in the Administration Department, so Emily Baker immediately tried to curry favor.
"Manager Wang, you’ve heard, haven’t you? Yes, that’s her, Vera Wave. Look at her, jeans and a t-shirt—how is that appropriate attire for the workplace?" Emily Baker cast a scornful glance at Vera Wave. "If I had interviewed her, she wouldn’t have even passed. How could I possibly allow this sort of person into our Glimmer company? Rest assured, I’ve already ordered her to pack her things and leave. Nothing like this will happen again."
Manager Wang hadn’t been paying much attention to Emily Baker, but her words made Manager Wang’s eyes snap towards her.
"Pack her things and leave?"
"Exactly!" Emily Baker said, completely oblivious to the restrained anger in Manager Wang’s tone. "Isn’t keeping someone like her just going to tarnish Glimmer’s reputation? Don’t worry, you don’t need to trouble yourself with this..." Reaching this point, she turned to Vera Wave, her voice becoming sharp and harsh. "What are you still dawdling for? Pack your things and get out! Stop being such an eyesore!"
Vera Wave slammed her box down. "Director Baker, please watch your words. I am a human being, not an object. How am I supposed to ’get out’?"
She couldn’t stay here any longer anyway, so she wasn’t afraid of offending Emily Baker further. She, Vera Wave, had once been a pampered young lady from a wealthy family. If she didn’t stand up for herself after being told to ’get out,’ then she wouldn’t be herself!
"Hmph!" Emily Baker dismissed her with a cold snort. "It’s not your place to dictate what I say."
"Get out!" Manager Wang snapped.
"Did you hear that?" Emily Baker taunted, chin tilted arrogantly. "Now get out, quickly!"
Manager Wang’s face visibly darkened.
"Director Baker, I was talking to you!"
She’d just received a call: the CEO himself had requested Vera Wave be transferred to the thirty-first floor. Assistant Chen had even referred to her as ’Miss Vera’ on the phone. What did that imply? It implied this young woman had an extraordinary relationship with the CEO! Otherwise, why would Manager Wang herself personally come all the way to a place like the Logistics Department to pick someone up? And this Emily Baker... not only had she tried to kick the young woman out, but she’d also dared to tell her to ’get out.’ If this young woman breathed a word of this to the CEO, Manager Wang knew she herself would be implicated, all thanks to Emily Baker. She had to make her stance clear right now and side with Vera Wave. Telling Emily Baker to ’get out’ had been a deliberate move, a way to give the woman—who’d been with Glimmer for years—a chance to save face and back down gracefully. But who would’ve thought? Emily Baker hadn’t taken the hint; instead, she’d pushed her luck even further! In that case, Manager Wang wasn’t about to spare her any dignity.
"Ah!" Emily Baker’s expression froze. She turned, looking at Manager Wang in disbelief. "Manager Wang, me?!"
Manager Wang stared at her coldly. "The company’s personnel regulations have clear procedures. Hiring and firing staff require formal reports and approvals. Only those at manager level and above have the authority to dismiss an employee directly. Who gave you that right?"
"Th-this..." Emily Baker was at a loss for words. "I..."
"As an Administrative Director, you’ve violated company regulations! Your bonus for this month will be docked! If this happens again, don’t blame me for being ruthless!" After shooting Emily Baker a fierce glare, Manager Wang’s demeanor softened. Smiling, she walked over to Vera Wave and gently took the box from her. "Let’s go. I’ll take you upstairs to see your new office!"
