CHAPTER 95: CHAPTER 95: WHERE ARE THOSE HANDS GOING?! (4)
"CEO, isn’t your throat feeling uncomfortable? Do you want to go to the clinic and get it checked?"
"No need."
After all, his throat wasn’t really hurting.
"Then... how about I buy some medicine for you later? Also, please drive carefully."
Ah, she still shows some care for him; she has a bit of conscience after all.
"Okay."
Kris Cooper turned, raised his right hand, waved, and then strode towards the elevator.
Watching his receding figure disappear inside the elevator doors, Vera Wave exhaled a soft sigh and returned to the ward.
"Miss Wave, you’re so lucky!" The caretaker offered a peeled apple. "What does your boyfriend do? He’s really handsome. Also, he looks familiar. I think I saw him on TV. Is he an actor?"
"No." Vera handed her the apple. "You eat it. I don’t want it."
Although Mrs. Li was a bit chatty, she took good care of Grandma Wave, and Vera was grateful to her for that.
After all, it’s not uncommon for many caretakers to take the money but not do the job.
Walking to the bedside, Vera took the small bowl from Mrs. Li’s hands and personally fed Grandma Wave some fruit.
Looking at the old woman’s carefree expression, she suddenly felt a bit relieved.
The doctor said that for someone in Grandma Wave’s condition, the possibility for recovery was not very high.
Initially, Vera was quite upset, but now, such an outcome doesn’t seem too bad.
Otherwise, if Grandma always remembered those worries, she’d probably just feel miserable all the time.
"Vera... the weather’s about to warm up. Remember to tell Kendrick to ventilate the windows and doors... and also, the koi in the backyard pond need the water cleaned..."
Listening to Grandma Wave’s instructions, Vera felt a pang of sadness in her heart.
Everything Grandma talked about concerned the old home. In the past, she loved that Siheyuan the most, describing it as having an earthy feel.
When they were driven out of the old home, Grandma didn’t cry or make a scene but had a sudden hypertension attack that night, landing her in the hospital.
She knew very well how much that old home meant to her.
If she found out that the old home was about to be auctioned and passed to a new owner, or even demolished and rebuilt, who knows how heartbroken she would be.
"The rainy season is about to start; have Kendrick clean the drains, so they don’t clog. Otherwise, all my flowers and plants will get flooded..."
"Okay!" Vera replied softly, "Don’t worry. I remember!"
"As long as the old home is fine, Grandma can be at ease."
The old woman whispered softly, closed her eyes, and drifted into a deep sleep.
Adjusting her blanket, Vera got up, took her phone out of her bag, and walked out of the ward.
She reached a small balcony at the end of the corridor, took out her phone, and flipped through the numbers in it. Upon seeing the name Robert Taylor, her eyes lit up, and she hurriedly dialed the number.
"Hello, who’s this?"
"Uncle Robert, it’s Vera... Walter Wave’s daughter."
"Oh, Vera. What’s up?"
"Didn’t my father open an account under my name with you for financial planning? You said before that the money couldn’t be taken out temporarily. Now... can I get it back?"
"I’m in a meeting at the bank right now. I’ll call you later, okay?"
The other party said and then hung up the phone.
Vera returned to the ward and waited for over an hour, but no response came. When she tried to call back, the phone was unreachable.
She called several times, all with the same result.
Just fine a moment ago, and now suddenly unreachable?
Vera gritted her teeth, holding the phone as she stood up.
"Mrs. Li, please watch over Grandma. I’m going to the bank."
