I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World
Chapter 1765 - 1759: Becoming More and More a Part of Here
CHAPTER 1765: CHAPTER 1759: BECOMING MORE AND MORE A PART OF HERE
Tang Ye saw her, and Lu Xiaojie was waving at him, shouting, "Here!"
Tang Ye walked over and directly said, "Let’s go, hurry up." As soon as he finished speaking, Lu Xiaojie didn’t move immediately. Instead, she glanced at his face, seemingly noticing that Tang Ye wasn’t in a good state, and then asked, "Are you... alright?"
Tang Ye shook his head at Lu Xiaojie’s concern and replied, "Not very good, but I should be able to hold on."
After he finished speaking, Lu Xiaojie sighed lightly, "I hope you won’t collapse too soon."
"Let’s hope not." Tang Ye didn’t know what to say, so he could only respond with those words, then added, "Let’s go."
He gestured for her to quickly find the tree they needed to enter, but the next second he heard her burst out laughing.
"Where are you going? It’s right here!" Lu Xiaojie pointed with her thumb to the tree behind her, and Tang Ye was taken aback, then could only smile awkwardly.
"You lead the way."
Lu Xiaojie tilted her head, clapped the tree trunk a few times, then stepped back and rammed into it. Her entire body was absorbed into the tree trunk, and at the moment the raven on her head fell to its death, Tang Ye followed.
After a dizzying sensation, what unfolded before them was an empty room with nothing in it. Many lights illuminated the room, and behind them was the giant painting they had been searching for.
This time, the content of the giant painting was a bit strange. It depicted a barren yellow field with a sheep. At first glance, the sheep seemed to be eating grass, but the sky above was half black, half red, and upon closer inspection, it didn’t quite resemble a sky.
Next to the grass-eating sheep was a dilapidated building, originally intended to be a small house, but now it was just a wall with a window. After searching around, Tang Ye couldn’t find a door and couldn’t help but look at Lu Xiaojie.
"How do we get in now?" As he spoke, Tang Ye reached out his hand towards the painting. This time, his hand didn’t enter the painting but was blocked outside.
"Find a door."
"There’s no door above either..."
"To enter a house, besides using the door, you can also go through the window." Lu Xiaojie pointed to the window on the broken wall in the painting. Tang Ye didn’t know what to say for a moment, retracting his hand and then extending it towards the window in the painting. When his fingers touched the painting’s surface, there was a slight resistance. The next second, his fingers smoothly penetrated the painting. But unlike the previous times, as soon as his hand crossed the painting’s surface, a suction force appeared out of nowhere, as if a giant beast behind the painting had opened its abyssal mouth to suck him inside!
"Something’s wrong!"
Realizing something was amiss, Tang Ye quickly withdrew his arm, looking back at Lu Xiaojie as if questioning her.
"The way to enter this time is different from before, but it’s okay."
"Are you sure?"
"I can’t be totally sure, at least... I think so, it shouldn’t cost you your life."
After Lu Xiaojie spoke, Tang Ye was silent for a moment, then nodded, reaching into the painting again. His fingertips once again felt the suction, and this time Tang Ye didn’t resist. Soon, he heard countless overlapping voices, as if countless people were shouting heartbreakingly in front of him, or as if a violent wind was brushing past his ears!
Immediately, his entire body was forcibly pulled into the painting by the suction, the sounds in his ears abruptly stopped, and what he saw in front of him went black for a few seconds. When his vision cleared, they found themselves on a flat expanse that stretched endlessly into the distance. There wasn’t a single blade of grass on the ground, just a vast expanse of bare dirt. The environment was somewhat similar to the misty forest, but the difference was that there were no trees, making it feel even more lifeless than the misty forest.
As he turned his head, he saw Lu Xiaojie right next to him. However, she didn’t immediately check out their surroundings; instead, she was looking down at the ground.
"Strange..."
She murmured to herself, and Tang Ye quickly noticed what she was paying attention to.
The first three times they entered the painting world, human figure graffiti would immediately appear around them, but now, he hadn’t seen any human figure graffiti on the ground. Was it because there were no walls? Were the human figure graffiti supposed to appear elsewhere? Tang Ye couldn’t be sure, but from the way Lu Xiaojie looked, it seemed like she was saying that human figure graffiti didn’t exist here.
"This is..."
"Dairya hasn’t come... That’s rare..." Lu Xiaojie shook her head, and Tang Ye couldn’t help but feel uneasy upon hearing this.
"Could it be that she’s preparing something?"
"That’s possible, but regardless, since that’s the case, let’s hurry up and find that sheep."
Compared to Tang Ye, Lu Xiaojie didn’t seem too worried. She motioned to Tang Ye and then walked forward, but this vast expanse of flat dirt had nothing that moved. How were they supposed to find it? Tang Ye pondered for a while in place before following her.
"I want to ask you a few questions."
"What questions?... I’ll answer most, but there are a few I might refuse to answer."
"Alright, let’s see how lucky I am."
"Go ahead."
"I have two questions. What do the ravens flying over us mean?" Tang Ye quickly threw out the first question, but Lu Xiaojie seemed somewhat surprised after hearing it.
"You finally noticed?"
"Hmm?" Tang Ye raised an eyebrow at her strange tone.
"You’re wondering what those ravens represent, right?"
"More or less."
"Explaining this is a bit complicated. Let’s say those ravens actually represent us."
"You’re joking, right?" Tang Ye was taken aback by Lu Xiaojie’s answer, but then she gestured for him to be patient and continued, "The regulations, I vaguely remember you’ve seen them... right?"
"Yeah."
"Breaking the regulations leads to death; you know that, right?"
"Yeah."
"Have you ever taken someone to violate the regulations, survived past the forbidden time, and then the person inexplicably died afterward?"
"Yes..." Tang Ye quickly recalled the man at the Xiangyi Hotel. With his answer, Lu Xiaojie clapped her hands.
"Exactly! Anyone who breaks the regulations will die, including you and me, but we’re not completely dead. We’re like shifting from one state to another. We just don’t know it. If we place the regulations here, every time we crash into the tree, it’s like violating the regulations once!"
"If you put it that way, it doesn’t sound like such a big deal..."
"No! Haven’t you noticed that you’re becoming more and more a part of this place?"
