I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World
Chapter 1845 - 1838: Tide of Giant Monsters
CHAPTER 1845: CHAPTER 1838: TIDE OF GIANT MONSTERS
In about ten minutes, Huang Quanjiu and the others had already pursued nearly a thousand miles! And the Level 8 zombie desperately fleeing ahead already showed signs of waning vitality. Its movements became uncoordinated, staggering in mid-air, yet it stubbornly forged southeast, irresistibly drawn by something unknown.
In the team, aside from Hu Ji, this high-tier silver-armored corpse could fly for extended periods thanks to its black mist ability, the remaining five could only repeatedly land and take off by running. By now, they had no idea where they had come, but looking to the right, they could see the magnificent Yangtze River!
The city along the riverbank had been ravaged by over a decade of time and was already covered in zombified plants, presenting a dead, desolate yellow vista!
"Damn it, still won’t stop." After chasing for so long, they became impatient. If they were chasing new humans, they might have already caught up, but this zombie exhausted its physical strength without scruple, desperately pulling away from them!
"Where are we?"
"Who knows!"
"That river, it’s the Yangtze, right?"
"It should be the Yangtze. Could this guy be heading toward the estuary?"
"Possible, feeling uneasy inside, as if something is waiting for us ahead."
The scenery underneath whizzed by, and soon they realized they should be over an ancient city from bygone days. Just then, the zombie they pursued finally slowed down!
"It’s weakening!" Huang Quanjiu’s eyesight was sharp, instantly discerning the dire state of the opponent; he immediately shouted, "Get him for me!" With that, he plummeted to the ground, crashing onto an abandoned street and creating a massive pit before sprinting again, then soaring skyward!
"Stay here for me!" Watching as the sight of the Level 8 zombie rapidly drew nearer, Huang Quanjiu grew excited. Last, he shouted, in no time, he approached beneath the opponent’s body from below; seeing only ten meters left, he swung the spiked club in his hand with all his might at the opponent’s abdomen!
But then, an unexpected event occurred. The Level 8 zombie seemed suddenly drained of strength and plummeted from the sky, dragging numerous severed tentacles.
Like a falling shuttlecock.
Huang Quanjiu didn’t anticipate the opponent’s sudden fall; his swing missed the mark, only ripping a piece of flesh from its waist or breaking one of the skeletons inside.
"Heh, can’t run anymore, can you?" Deeply inhaling, Huang Quanjiu leapt back into the air, tilting his body earthward, and began descending, heading straight for the Level 8 zombie!
The others closely followed. At this moment, Hu Ji seemed to sense something, furrowing his brow without warning, glancing at the surroundings companions to find nothing unusual.
"Hmm? ...?"
For some inexplicable reason, he suddenly sensed numerous similar presences, many upon many, to an alarming extent!
Yet nothing strange was visible around.
While puzzled, something caught Yu Guang’s eye as he inadvertently glanced at the Yangtze.
"Huh?" Initially bewildered, Hu Ji then turned to scrutinize, and upon closer inspection, his eyes widened, his mouth agape, uttering two words in an exaggerated tone. His scalp tingled instantly!
"Holy~ shit!" He cursed loudly, prompting the others to notice his unusual expression and, spurred by curiosity, followed his gaze. In the next second, Chang Jinlun and others wore expressions identical to Hu Ji!
Their scalps felt on the verge of bursting!
The serpentine Yangtze, meandering across the land, inexplicably changed color!
Hastily controlling his posture, Chang Jinlun quickly sought Huang Quanjiu, loudly reminding him, "Old Huang, damn it, stop chasing! Come back!"
"Come back my ass, this guy’s mine!" Huang Quanjiu was undeterred, continuing the pursuit, but the others’ anxious voices soon reached him.
"Listen to him, stop chasing! Look at the river’s water!"
"Come back quickly!"
"Danger ahead! Stupid!"
"... ... ..."
The continuous voices from his companions finally alerted Huang Quanjiu that something was wrong. He too glanced toward the far-off Yangtze, and upon realizing the change, his face went pale, and in panic, he twirled multiple times mid-air as he plummeted earthward.
The originally greenish-blue water of the Yangtze had unknowingly turned a deep brown! Countless tentacles surfaced on the river, numbering too vast to count, densely packed like a mass of snake nests!
It’s a "godsend" for those with trypophobia!
Each tentacle was extraordinarily sturdy, the thinnest as thick as a water barrel!
Numerous tentacles interwove like snake bellies, their dark-brown surcoat overlaying the Yangtze’s original color!
From a distance, without close inspection, one might think the geographical changes over the decades had caused the Yangtze to become new terrain, but precisely for this reason, the anomaly over the Yangtze looked so horrifying!
They ceased pursuit, landing on the rubble of a half-collapsed building, allowing the plummeting Level 8 zombie to stagger away on the ground.
Huang Quanjiu quickly returned, panting heavily, half from exhaustion, half from fright, for those tentacles were overwhelming, the density discomfiting to behold!
Stifling!
"Oh my goodness~" he exclaimed loudly, now nobody was in the mood for joking, each wore a serious expression, gaping at the happenings over the Yangtze River, where occasionally an exaggeratedly thick tentacle rose, creating a tidal wave while also forcing another gigantic creature in the river to flip over.
"Are those... Water Guanyin?"
The crashing waves in the river allowed Huang Quanjiu and the others to clearly see what was in the water; they were Water Guanyin! The successor royal zombies of the Zombie King of the extreme north!
They couldn’t help but be cautious; so many Water Guanyin flooding into the Yangtze already filled the river!
It’s hard not to suspect what they might be up to, with a strong possibility the legendary Zombie King of the extreme north might also be among them! However, the Zombie King of the extreme north’s body is enormous, would the Yangtze, grand as it is, hold his massive form?
Hard to say, what if he has the ability to shrink his body?
Nevertheless, such a scenario would make the Zombie King of the extreme north even more terrifying!
"Hu Ji, how many Level 8 zombies are there in the river?" At this point, regaining composure slightly, Huang Quanjiu asked Hu Ji. A colossal size doesn’t necessarily denote a higher tier, as strength largely depends on the rank, and they needed to know how many Level 8 Water Guanyin there were?
However, Hu Ji didn’t provide a precise answer to Huang Quanjiu’s question; he shook his head, saying, "Too many to discern."
The crowd fell silent, and witnessing such a scene, even those battle-hardened and blood-stained couldn’t control the fear inside!
