CHAPTER 15: CHAPTER 12: THE SWALLOW RETURNS 12
Jiang Jianjun took two steps back, blocking his two sisters behind him: "Don’t come in."
But people are like that, the more you say no, the more curious they become. The two sisters peeked inside, just in time to see a wild boar waking up, which had apparently been asleep before.
Jiang Zhenmei covered her mouth, with no surprise, only terror, as if the other party were a wolf, tiger, or leopard. Of course, she didn’t forget to drag Jiang Mingyue along.
She urged softly: "Ming Yue, hurry, let’s quickly escape, wild boars have tusks and can be deadly."
Jiang Jian Guo: "..." See, at critical moments, the third sister doesn’t have them in her heart at all. The only thing to be thankful for is that she still remembers to protect the little sister.
Jiang Mingyue, however, stood her ground, unwilling to move.
"Ming Yue," very softly, afraid of provoking an attack from the wild boar.
But borrowing the light of the fire, Jiang Zhenmei saw her sister’s eyes glowing, as if what was displayed there was a plate of fragrant braised pork.
Jiang Zhenmei felt extremely bitter: her sister, from a well-off family, suddenly falling to her household where food wasn’t plentiful, was craving meat.
But this meat couldn’t be eaten, it would be deadly.
"Sister, let’s go. When we get out, I’ll figure out a way to get you meat to eat."
However, Jiang Mingyue directly grabbed Jiang Zhenmei, rolled up her sleeves, and prepared to get to work.
And that wild boar had already been agitated by the torch light. Finally, it showed its power, revealing its tusks and charging at them.
"Move aside." The second brother was brave, shoving the others away, determined to fight to the death if it meant getting to eat meat today.
He raised a stick and smashed it towards the wild boar’s head. "Crack," the stick instantaneously broke into two pieces. The wild boar seemed unbothered, becoming even more frantic, letting out a roar, determined to tear apart this guy intending to eat its flesh.
Jiang Jianjun was equally excited, raising his fists, ready to blind the wild boar. But it seemed to have intelligence, instantly dodging his attack and pouncing towards his neck, where an accident happened in that electric flash moment.
His calf was bitten by something, instantly going numb. Taking this chance, Jiang Jian Guo, seeing his second brother about to have his neck bitten, felt his heart drop, panicking and flailing, punching out but falling to the ground himself, not caring about the pain.
Jianjun’s fate seemed dire.
A heart-wrenching shout, "Second brother..." but realized things weren’t as imagined. The second brother, who should have had his neck bitten, was standing there, eyes wide like bronze bells, and the third sister was the same.
Then...then Jiang Jian Guo finally realized that the little sister he always thought was delicate was now dragging the pig by its ears, blood on the ground indicating the fierce wild boar had been beaten to unconsciousness, ready to be slaughtered.
Jiang Jian Guo was at a loss for words: "Little, little sister, how did you..." yet couldn’t continue the sentence.
"Don’t just stand there, big brother, this one’s for you. There’s another one inside, let’s finish tidying up and head down the mountain."
Then...then Jiang Jian Guo and the three siblings personally witnessed their "delicate" city sister, mercilessly punching another wild boar unconscious, nonchalantly dragging it by one leg.
Jiang Jian Guo: Sister, why do wild boars seem fragile as paper before you?
Of course, they weren’t fragile as paper; Jiang Mingyue had found out the original’s strength was extraordinarily high. Coupled with a bit of cleverly used spiritual power for assistance, it seemed easy and not suspicious.
The first punch, she thought she’d need another ten to take down the wild boar, but unexpectedly, one punch and the inexperienced wild boar passed out, and she saw a fist-sized pit directly on the wild boar’s temple.
The original’s strength was really enormous!
If the first wild boar could be subdued with one punch, the latter one with an injured leg was naturally even less of a challenge.
With the danger eliminated, Jiang Mingyue immediately went to check on Jiang Jianjun, seeing him already slumped to the ground, forehead covered in cold sweat from pain, looking extremely pale, as if his entire body’s blood had been suddenly withdrawn, lips trembling white.
"Second brother, what’s wrong?"
Following Jiang Mingyue’s gaze, the other two also noticed Jiang Jianjun’s anomalies, frightened and startled.
"I’m fine."
Jiang Mingyue noticed one of his pant legs was like capri pants, ridiculously short, and the leg exposed to the air suffered as well. At the patch on the hem, the once muscular calf was now bright and swollen, with blood spots emerging from the center, the dead bamboo leaf green by his foot evidently already dealt with by the second brother himself.
"It’s a venomous snake." Jiang Jian Guo’s siblings even halted their breaths; this was hopeless. The previous years, during the famine in the village, many villagers went to the mountains to seek routes, only to be bitten by venomous snakes hidden in the woods. Although the accompanying people carried them down in time to the town clinic, they couldn’t survive, three people consecutively losing their lives to snake venom.
It can be said, being bitten by a venomous snake meant no life left.
Taking advantage of the moment when no one was paying attention, Jiang Mingyue delved into the space pharmacy with her spiritual power, finding the antivenom for the bamboo leaf green’s toxin along with alcohol, cotton swabs, gauze, a blood suction device, and a blade. She first placed the antivenom in her pocket. She dumped the other items on the ground.
She then squatted down beside, skillfully bandaging her second brother’s swollen and painful area with gauze, using the blade to cut an opening, aligning the blood suction device with the cut, manipulating the pressure ball to draw out the poisoned blood, swiftly injecting the antivenom, sterilizing with alcohol cotton swabs, and finishing with gauze wrapping, the entire process seamlessly as if done thousands of times.
"Little, little sister, is the second brother going to be okay?" Jiang Jian Guo, who had initially said he’d rather die running to carry the second brother to the clinic for rescue, but saw the little sister’s peculiar items, resembling a doctor, and the black blood extracted by her was all drawn cleanly, the swelling visibly subsided. Though they hadn’t seen such a treatment, they inexplicably felt it would work.
"Yes, he’ll be fine. Second brother, how are you feeling? Can you walk?"
Jiang Jianjun didn’t expect to feel tonight would be his last moment, only for things to take a turn; he now felt a weightless sense of survival post-calamity.
"I... I’m very well! Thank you, little sister. By the way, little sister, what are these things of yours?"
Jiang Mingyue thought it was good to broaden their horizons and didn’t hide it, explaining each item one by one.
"So, little sister, where did you get these things? Why bring them up a mountain?"
Jiang Mingyue felt like she’d shot herself in the foot.
"Ahem... My previous home had three people in the hospital, two of them doctors, so getting things wasn’t hard. Coming back to the countryside this time, I heard it’s hard to buy medicine here, so I brought some along. Didn’t expect them to be used tonight."
The brothers and sisters didn’t seem to think much about it, thankfully breathing a sigh of relief: "Luckily with you, little sister, otherwise..."
They couldn’t even imagine.
"Second brother, can you still walk?"
"Second brother, let me carry you," Jiang Jian Guo crouched in front of Jiang Jianjun.
But Jiang Jianjun pushed him away: "Am I the type to need help for an injured leg? You’re underestimating me. Also, the strange thing is, this medicine from the little sister is miraculous; now, apart from some pain at the wound, everything feels normal."
"If you don’t believe me, watch me walk."
Jiang Jianjun walked around a few circles, Jiang Jian Guo and Jiang Zhenmei closely observing, discovering nothing wrong with him, finally trusting his words.
Jiang Jian Guo: "Then let’s head down the mountain first, then I’ll find a few people to come up and quietly carry the wild boar down."
