CHAPTER 486: CHAPTER 486: CAN’T HELP BUT LAUGH

Xiuxiu couldn’t help but smile at this.

"Alright, Little Huang, take them to line up nicely, and I’ll prepare some delicious food for you," Xiuxiu said with a grin, signaling Little Huang to lead his offspring to their own dining table to wait for the meal. With such a large group surrounding the entrance hall, especially Little White’s two puppies, Xiuxiu was almost overwhelmed. The two small pups were not at all well-behaved as they played with her home slippers, enjoying them as if they were chewing on ribs, almost wishing to devour the slippers completely.

What left Xiuxiu most helpless was that those two pups chewed no one else’s slippers but hers, only stopping when the slippers were torn and tattered, and then eagerly starting again as soon as she got new ones. Just this month, she had already replaced her slippers several times.

"Little Huang?" But today, Little Huang, who usually exerted full parental authority at Xiuxiu’s command, made no move at all. Even Little White and Little Xiao Huang remained still, and then all of them started to restless near Xiuxiu, barking wildly.

"What’s wrong?" Xiuxiu asked, frowning deeply.

Initially, Xiuxiu didn’t think it was a big deal, but her dogs were very human-like and intelligent, and usually easy to take care of. It was unusual for them to surround her and bark incessantly like today. Especially Little Huang, perhaps due to its age and experience, was much calmer than Little White and Little Xiao Huang. Although it wasn’t as anxious, it circled around Xiuxiu. Then, without giving Xiuxiu time to react, it grabbed the bag of meat bones she was holding and hadn’t yet put down.

"What are you doing, Little Huang? Why are you in such a hurry today? Are you too hungry?" Xiuxiu said, amused as she stroked Little Huang’s head. Intending only to jest and calm Little Huang down, she saw Little Huang bite on a pocket and then look up at her and bark, "Woof." Holding the bag in its mouth, Little Huang had a look of alertness and warning in its eyes.

"Is there something in this bag?" Xiuxiu asked Little Huang, puzzled, even planning to search through the meat bone bag.

It wasn’t that Xiuxiu was overthinking, but Little Huang was too smart and too anthropomorphic. She knew very well that the space fruits and spring water had enhanced its sensibility. It must have been something odd, especially since the Little Huang Family was still quite normal until they got close to her when they suddenly became agitated. So, the problem must be related to her.

But she fed them patiently every day, and by all normal reasons, they shouldn’t be hungry at this time. This abnormality was truly bizarre.

Just as Xiuxiu was wondering if there was something wrong with the vegetables she bought, Little Huang had already bitten the bag from her hand and at the entrance, tore it open. Xiuxiu looked closely and saw Little Huang pull out a fist-sized package from the bag containing their family’s food. From the white powder in the clear package, it was clear that it was something unusual.

Is this drugs? It wasn’t until a moment later that Xu Xiuxiu realized this, bending down to pick it up and sniffing closer, indeed, she felt something was odd. Even though she had never seen drugs before, her nose was particularly sensitive. If her mind hadn’t been elsewhere today, she might have smelled this out of place substance in the bones earlier. But if this wasn’t drugs, what else could it have been?

Thinking this over, Xu Xiuxiu was pretty sure the white powder she was pinching in her hand was drugs. Frowning, she remembered the last words Lu Xiangxiang had said. Could this be Lu Xiangxiang’s final warning? A frame-up? Various conspiracies hovered in Xu Xiuxiu’s mind, not because she wanted to think poorly of Lu Xiangxiang, but because the coincidence of the events was too suspicious.

Knock, knock, knock—

While Xu Xiuxiu was lost in thought, the tightly locked door behind her was suddenly knocked on. Startled, she approached the wooden front door and called out, "Who is it!" Normally, Xu Xiuxiu wouldn’t have been so cautious, given the excellent security in this neighborhood. Petty thieves wouldn’t foolishly target this neighborhood because many families of military personnel from the nearby Military District lived here. But today, with everything being so bizarre, Xu Xiuxiu naturally had to be on her guard, and so, she asked.

"Hello, we are from the Imperial City Police Department. We received an anonymous tip and would appreciate it if you would open the door and cooperate with the police!" came the stern response from outside.

Because the tip had arrived unexpectedly, even though they were skeptical, they still decided to check it out as a matter of routine. After all, the tip mentioned that this house was harboring drugs with high purity and substantial quantity, described very precisely, almost too vivid to be dismissed as a prank call.

Anonymous tip? Police Station!

By this point, Xu Xiuxiu understood clearly—it must have been Lu Xiangxiang who framed her. Fortunately, she had her unique space, an advantage beyond anyone’s imagination, otherwise, she might indeed have been convicted for possession of drugs today. The battle of wits was indeed fierce! She had underestimated Lu Xiangxiang; that woman truly was a disgusting presence, toxin-like. Thinking this, Xu Xiuxiu curled the corners of her mouth and casually tossed the packet of drugs into her space, then briskly opened the front door.

"Hello!" Upon opening the door, Xu Xiuxiu saw three to four men dressed in police uniforms, and she greeted them with a polite smile.

"Hello." The police officers, who had been quite serious at first, were momentarily startled upon hearing a woman’s voice inside the house. They were perplexed for a moment when the door was quickly opened by a stunningly beautiful woman.

"What exactly is going on here? Why would police come to my house? And what about this anonymous tip?" Xu Xiuxiu let the officers into her home and then moved the vegetables and meat from the floor to the dining table in the living room. Turning her head, she then called out to Little Huang, "Little Huang, take the kids to eat." As she spoke, she handed the bag of bones to Little Huang.

"Woof." Little Huang obediently barked once, then picked up the bag of bones and headed towards a row of dog bowls on the balcony, followed by a few dogs of various sizes, neatly lined up behind their leader, Little Huang.
