Chapter 22 – Swallowing PDA With Tears in Their Eyes!
Homestyle food?
No way!
Throughout the three years Ye Fei and Zheng Wanqing dated, she was the one footing most of the date bills.
After all, she came from money. She was the second daughter of a wealthy family.
And Ye Fei? Besides having a handsome face— He had one thing going for him: being broke.
In a word: poor.
Back then, every time he went on a date with Zheng Wanqing,
He always felt like he was freeloading off his girlfriend.
Still, he never saw it as shameful.
But now, things were different!
He had bound the secret mission system.
He was on his way to the top!
And Zheng Wanqing was carrying his baby.
He couldn’t keep mooching off her like before!
Tomorrow night’s dinner would be their first public gathering as an official couple.
Homestyle food?
Not happening!
It had to be at least five-star quality.
Even though Zheng Wanqing was only a few days pregnant, she deserved to eat well!
After all, it affected the baby too.
Ye Fei nodded. “Alright, wifey. See you tomorrow night.”
“Mhm, bye-bye! You guys keep studying—I’m heading back to the dorm.”
Zheng Wanqing picked up her finished paper
And left the library.
As soon as she got back to the dorm, she found her roommates staring straight at her.
“Why are you all looking at me like that?” she asked, laughing.
“Zheng Wanqing, you’ve gone too far.”
“We’ve been dorm sisters for four years, and you had a boyfriend this whole time without telling us?!”
“Spill it. What’s going on with you and Ye Fei?”
“Be honest and we’ll go easy. Resist and we’ll go hard!”
Zheng Wanqing chuckled. “Alright, alright—I’ll tell you everything.”
She sat down and told the story:
“I started dating him sophomore year.”
“I went to the library to find a book, and he happened to be there.”
“I walked past him.”
“In that moment, I saw him reading. I can’t remember the exact title, maybe Murder on the Orient Express?”
“My first thought was—wow, he’s so handsome! Really, so handsome!”
“And then… we got to know each other.”
“But because my parents didn’t allow dating in college, we kept it a secret until now.”
“And that’s the whole story.”
When she finished, the girls squealed, covering their faces.
“Ah! I can’t take it. You two are too sweet!”
“No way. You have to help me find a boyfriend like Ye Fei.”
“This story is toxic! Why does it make my heart ache?”
“You’re just love-deprived!”
“Shut up! You guys are the worst. Nothing but trash talk from dog mouths.”
(…)
Zheng Wanqing shook her head, laughing helplessly.
“Oh right! My boyfriend said he wants to take you girls out for dinner tomorrow night.”
“His dorm mates will be there too.”
“What do you say? Want to come?”
Her roommates, mostly homebodies, weren’t considered great beauties—so they didn’t get much attention.
They’d been dying to meet someone.
But due to their shy personalities, they didn’t know many guys.
“Wanqing, you’re the best! Even after getting a boyfriend, you’re still trying to help us find love!”
“But just saying—if he’s not as hot as your Ye Fei, I’m not interested,” they joked.
Zheng Wanqing was blunt: “Then you might be disappointed.”
“Because at least in our school, I haven’t seen anyone hotter than my boyfriend!”
Wow!
Is this how girls in love talk about their boyfriends now?
Still, seeing how happy she looked,
Her roommates could only swallow their jealousy— And silently eat another round of dog food
¹.
Back in the library, Ye Fei picked up the papers from the desk and said to his roommates, “Alright, time to head back.”
“Ye Fei, are you really treating us to dinner tomorrow?”
Ye Fei shot back, “Why? You got something going on tomorrow?”
“Not really. It’s just—this is your first time treating us, and we’re a bit flattered.”
“Can you at least tell us where we’re going?”
“Street food stalls? KFC?”
Ye Fei smirked. “You’ll find out when we get there.”
With that, he walked ahead.
On the way back to their dorms, The roommates exchanged glances and thought, Well damn, he’s being all mysterious now.
Alright then—you’ve officially got us hooked!
The next evening at 6:30 PM,
Everyone from Ye Fei’s dorm had already gathered at the school gate.
They were just waiting for the girls.
Five minutes later, the girls arrived.
“Hubby, we can go now!” Zheng Wanqing said, wrapping her arm around Ye Fei’s.
