Chapter 44
Chapter 44 – “First Appearance as the Big Boss!”
8:00 AM the next morning.
Ye Fei left on time for Kunlun Technology’s office— ready to lead the company’s first formal meeting.
Since founding the business, he’d left everything to the executives, playing the role of a hands-off boss.
But today was his first public appearance as the actual company owner.
So Ye Fei put in the effort: he chose a tailored black suit— not from a famous international brand, but still worth twenty to thirty thousand yuan, enough to look the part.
Inside the office, the employees were buzzing with speculation— about the mysterious boss’s age… and gender.
“What do you think—is our boss a man or a woman?”
“Gotta be a man. I mean, ninety percent of circuit manufacturing pros are guys.”
“You’re missing the point. Should we really be focusing on gender right now?”
“Then what is the point?”
“The point is whether this whole 0.1-nanometer domestic chip project is even real. Sounds crazy.”
For confidentiality, Ye Fei had asked HR to include a clause in every employee’s contract:
No leaking confidential R&D related to the 0.1nm chip project— or else face a penalty twenty times the damages.
Understandable. After all, company secrets are crucial. One leak could mean devastating losses.
Still, many employees remained skeptical.
0.1-nanometer chip technology?
Seriously?
Last they checked, domestic chips had just cracked 7 nanometers.
0.1 nanometers?
That was a decades-long leap.
Could the new boss really be that capable?
“Here he comes!”
“The boss is here!”
A hundred employees stood in two rows.
The department head stepped forward to greet him first: “Good morning, President Ye.”
Everyone followed in unison: “Good morning, President Ye!”
Ye Fei nodded. Paused a moment. Then calmly began speaking:
“Hello, everyone.”
“Let me introduce myself. I’m Ye Fei— the silent partner behind Kunlun Tech Circuit Manufacturing.”
“Day-to-day operations are in the hands of General Manager Wu and Director Zhang.”
“My role is to oversee strategic direction and supply the technology for domestic chip production— inclusive of lithography machine development.”
“You are the future of this company. You’re also the future of our country’s chip industry— and the hope of the global semiconductor world.”
“I hope everything you hear and see in this building stays with you. Don’t leak a single thing.”
“I believe GM Wu and Director Zhang have briefed you. I won’t repeat the rules.”
He pulled two sealed folders from his briefcase and handed them over:
“These are the chip and lithography machine blueprints.”
“Study them thoroughly. By the end of next month, production must begin.”
“For now, just create a prototype and run tests. If all goes well, we’ll move to mass production.”
“Got it, President Ye!”
“We’ll take care of it—you can count on us.”
Ye Fei nodded.
He spent half the day at the company.
By 4 PM, he left for the city.
Back in town, he went straight to campus.
Upon entering the dormitory, his roommates greeted him:
“Ye Fei, where’ve you been? We tried calling and texting—no response!”
“We’ve been waiting forever!”
