CHAPTER 49: BONUS REWARD

Slashing his sword, Myles desperately blocked with his hand.

"Die!"

Seeing him block with his bare body, Edward didn’t stop his attack.

Continuing his relentless assault, Myles began to falter, unable to keep up due to his injured body.

Soon enough, Myles was finally unable to cope up, giving Edward a chance to strike his neck.

Unable to dodge, his neck was slashed opened, exposing veins and bones as blood quickly gushed out.

Suffering a devastating attack, Myles knew his end had come.

"I can’t die like this..."

Filled with unwillingness, he gathered all his remaining strength, determined to take Edward down with him.

If he were going to die, he would take off this hateful person to accompany him.

However, seeing through his intention, Edward quickly escaped, giving the people at the back a window to attack Myles.

Bombarded by shots from S-class weapons, the last straw that held Myles’ life withered away.

Too weak to move, Myles staggered, falling to his knees.

With his last will remaining, Myles turned his crimson-red eyes, burning with anger and despair, on Edward.

"It’s time to say goodbye..." Seeing his chance, Edward took a stance, ready to sever Myles’ head completely.

But just as his sword was about to strike, A bullet zipped through the air, piercing through Myles’ crimson eye.

Bang! ~

Falling with a thud, Edward stood in a daze, staring at Myles’s fallen body.

"Who?! Who shot that?!" Rage surged through him as he scanned the battlefield, searching for the shooter.

"It’s me, Nash, from the Crimson Phoenix Squad. Seems I got lucky." A voice echoed through the intercom.

Hearing this, silence fell over the battlefield.

The name Nash and the Crimson Phoenix Squad started to become engraved into their minds.

Looking at the mountaintop, they seem to feel a chilling gaze looming over them, like death watching in silence.

Suppressing his fury, Edward clenched his fists and searched Myles’ body.

With a hidden sniper lurking in the shadows, he had no choice but to accept Nash’s final kill.

Unless he slaughtered everyone around, there would be only one man to claim the extra reward—Nash.

Unwilling to accept it, he could only scavenge whatever valuables he could find to compensate for his efforts.

After clearing the battlefield, collecting the fallen bodies and weapons, Edward gave the order to retreat.

Meanwhile, fearing for his life, Nash hurried back to headquarters alone.

---

Crimson Headquarters:

The moment they returned, whispers spread among the Void Warriors.

Nash—The God Slayer.

Initially, the rumors that Nash could killed Void Warrior like chicken and vegetables when he was only at 9% saturation rate was dismissed as fantasy.

However, witnessing him snipe a Void Commander from kilometers away proved they still underestimated his power.

Thus, Nash became a legend, an arbiter of death who could claim their lives at any moment.

---

Crimson Phoenix Squad Room:

Inside the squad room, Nash’s teammates chattered excitedly.

"How does it feel to kill a Void Commander, Captain Nash?"

"Was it thrilling? Exhilarating? Like a dream?"

"Nothing," Nash replied nonchalantly.

"It felt the same as killing any other Void Warrior from afar."

Though it had taken a great deal of effort to kill Myles, being in the runic space, Nash always remained in a state of absolute rationality.

Furthermore, without the efforts of the other Void Warriors, especially Edward, he doubted he could have pulled it off.

"What about the reward, Captain? Are you going to split it?"

Hoarding all the points would be like carrying a ticking time bomb.

Although the rule stated that the last one to land the killing blow would claim the reward, that was only on paper.

Without the strength to protect his wealth, Nash would become a walking treasure chest.

"I’ll split it with Edward. As for the rest, they already have their participation reward," Nash thought and decided.

Edward had been the key player in the hunt for Myles.

Without him, most of them wouldn’t even have made it back alive.

Furthermore, witnessing his bravery and sense of responsibility, Nash couldn’t help but develop a good impression of him.

As for Edward’s earlier outburst, who wouldn’t explode with rage after having their hard-earned kill stolen?

Even a saint would lose their temper, seeing their harvest suddenly stolen by a thief.

If Edward had remained calm despite all that, Nash would have started questioning whether he was even human.

After discussing their next course of action, Nash cleaned himself up and headed to the Crimson Squad Room.

---

Crimson Squad Room

"You’re here? What do you want?" Edward asked nonchalantly as if the previous dispute had never happened.

"I just wanted to apologize and split the reward with you," Nash said bluntly.

"No need. We all agreed that the last one to land the killing blow would get the reward. I’m not that petty."

"Oh? Did you get something more valuable?" Nash asked, intrigued by Edward’s reaction.

Even if Edward wanted to act noble and maintain his reputation, he wouldn’t reject 100,000 contribution points so easily.

For him to disregard that amount, he must have found something far more valuable.

"You brat, you’re quite perceptive," Edward smirked, dodging the question.

’As expected of the one who sniped a Void Commander from kilometers away’

Indeed, he had found something far more valuable on Myles’ body.

Compared to mere contribution points, which would only help him advance to a Void Commander, what he obtained could set him on a much greater path.

"In that case, I’ll take my leave," Nash said, realizing he wouldn’t get an answer.

But just as he was about to step out, Edward’s voice rang out.

"Be careful not to leave the shelter. I may be magnanimous, but the others might not be."

"I know..."

Without the Void Commanders to deter everyone, Nash could be assassinated the moment he left the headquarters.

---

Crimson Phoenix Squad Quarters:

Back in his room, Nash checked his squad’s contribution points.

[Crimson Phoenix Squad: Rank 50]

[Contribution Points: 100,800]

"The squad rank went up!"

From rank 87 to 50—it seemed his achievements had already been recorded by the organization.

Looking at his balance, Nash couldn’t wait to access the exchange catalog.

The first thing he bought was an S-Class Sniper with a 1% void saturation rate, costing 8,000 points.

It was expensive, but as he held the sleek weapon in his hands, he knew it was worth every point.

As for a higher saturation S-Class sniper?

One look at the prices and Nash immediately backed out.

A 2% void saturation sniper already cost 18,000 points—he didn’t even want to check the price of the higher-tier ones.

After restocking a 9% saturation void bullet, he still had over 91,000 points left.

Browsing further, his eyes suddenly stopped on a particular item.

[Virtual Dark Pod (Basic): A virtual pod that allows access to the Dark Plane

Cost: 87,000]

"Dark Plane? What is that?"
