CHAPTER 75: ASSEMBLY START

A few hours later, after every state chancellor had arrived, Nash was called out of his room to attend the assembly.

Upon entering the massive room, he found a place to sit and scanned the crowd, recalling which state each person managed.

Soon after, with the arrival of the Void Commanders, the assembly began.

"First, I want to sincerely thank all of you for coming today, especially on such short notice."

Abner, the leader of the Earth Horizon Alliance, stood before the assembly, looking at them with a firm gaze.

"I called this meeting to give everyone the chance to share updates and reports on what’s happening in each of our states."

"As members of the Earth Horizon Alliance, we’ve all taken an oath to serve this planet and its people, and to help them see the dawn on the horizon."

Most of the attendees looked bored as they listened to the speech.

Knowing the nature of the Earth Horizon Alliance, how could they believe in such a hollow statement?

Fortunately, it seemed even Abner knew no one was taking his words seriously.

Giving them a cold glare, he quickly ended his speech.

"With that, I now officially declare this assembly open."

"Lord Trish, please tell us what improvements have been made in the Atral State during this term." Abner gestured to the first speaker.

Taking the podium, Trish began recounting all that had happened in the Atral State since he took over.

From president to chancellor, although his position had changed, he was still managing the familiar Atral State.

Freed from the Arleanian bindings, Trish began pursuing his dream of helping Earthlings stand on their own again.

With the wealth and manpower of his wife’s family, he quickly reorganized the chaos in Atral City and began reforming all laws that went against the people.

From allowing ordinary citizens to establish businesses and industries, to rebuilding infrastructure, education, healthcare, and public security that was once only privileges for the rich and Arleanians descent.

Unfortunately, too little time had passed. Though he had already implemented various measures, the intended effects were not yet visible.

Meanwhile, as they listened to Trish’s report, the assembly members felt enlightened and inspired.

As fellow Earthlings, of course, they also wanted a better life for everyone.

In this war-torn era of suppression and exploitation, they still had compassion and empathy, so long as it didn’t threaten their interests.

Unfortunately, unlike Trish, who had the backing of the Victor Family, an interstellar force known in the Nova Sector, they had nothing but their strength.

Even their political knowledge was severely lacking. Relying on brute force alone, they could barely manage their states.

Thus, listening to Trish, a spark of understanding bloomed in their minds, presenting them with blueprints of what they could do.

Aware of this, Trish went into as much detail as possible, lecturing on what to do and what to avoid.

Because of this, the Void Commanders looked at him impatiently, as if itching to drag him off the podium.

---

A few hours later.

"And that’s all..." Trish bowed with a smile, hoping his fellow Earthlings had learned a thing or two.

Seeing Trish bow, most of them stood up, giving him a standing ovation and a grand applause.

"As expected of a former president," Nash muttered, standing as he offered his respect.

Although Nash was quite proficient in governance, Trish’s speech still inspired him to help lift Earth from its desolation.

If not for the Victor Family backing him, Nash might have even insisted to Camilla and the Fiero Family to reinstate Trish as Earth’s president.

As the room calmed down, the next speaker took the podium.

However, unlike Trish, who had taken hours to finish his speech, the chancellor of Eytah State, Alijah, only said a few formal words.

Besides restoring order and resuming the mining operations for void crystals, Alijah hadn’t done anything else.

As an outsider who came to Earth solely to exploit its void crystal mines, it was no surprise he didn’t care about anything beyond that.

Still, as he stepped down from the podium, the room gave him polite applause; no one wanted to disrespect or offend a powerful Void Commander.

Soon after, the chancellors of the two other major states, Yore and Kota state, also said very little before ending their reports.

"Next is Nash Navre, the chancellor of Eastdam State. Come forward and tell us the progress of your state," Abner said, waving his hand and motioning for Nash to speak.

As the wealthiest and prosperous state before the four major states, Nash wasn’t surprised his name was next.

"I don’t have much to report. Aside from rectifying laws and restoring order in Eastdam state, I haven’t done anything significant," Nash said as he prepared to take a seat.

Lacking both time and funding, Nash had done little beyond assigning officials to manage the state and amending laws while approving a few essential projects.

"Oh? Is that all? I heard you resumed the Elite Training Program of the Earth Government. Are you planning to enter the Cosmic Competition?" Abner asked, a glint flashing in his eyes.

One of the key focuses of this assembly was the resumption of the Elite Training Program.

With less than nine months before the Nova Cosmic Competition and with the additional resources sent by the Fiero Family, Abner felt threatened by the potential of these elite talents.

Although Arthur might eventually help Earth regain full autonomy after becoming a Tier 1 Scientist, that would still take a few years.

Compared with the possibility that could happen in the Nova Cosmic Competition a few months later, Abner and the other Void Commanders were alarmed.

This would greatly affect their interest, shortening their profits multiple times.

Still, despite the clear threat in Abner’s tone, Nash didn’t panic.

"Yes. As you said, we took an oath to serve this planet and its people, and to help them see the dawn on the horizon."

"As a councilor, how could I turn my back on the talents and hope of this world? Letting them participate in the Cosmic Competition is only natural." Nash smiled, explaining his stance righteously.
