Woah, system, care to explain what’s happening?

[Of course Jack.]

[You chanted the words of your blessing. It grants you untold strength given to you by your god.]

While electricity coursed through his veins, every breath he took tasted like divinity. If Divinity had a flavor.

Above him the clouds began swirling into a perfect vortex. It was as if the heavens were being drawn to him.

Lightning and thunder began raining down on the battlefield.

He raised his hands towards the growing tempest and the lightning obeyed.

’Call of the Lightning!’

The first bolt of lightning struck his palm with the force of a fallen star but it didn’t destroy him.

Jack felt his body absorbing the divine electricity, each charge added into a reservoir of power that seemed to have no bottom.

His hair slowly started to stand up on end as electricity coiled around his body.

[Lightning Charge: 6/25]

Another bolt.

Then another.

Jack stood motionless as heaven’s fury poured into him like wine into a chalice.

[Lightning Charge: 12/25]

Across the battlefield, Spiralus had gone completely still. For the first time since the fight began Spiralus showed in motion other the confidence.

Fear.

"Impossible!" The left head said. The right head interjected. " That power... it cannot be the forgotten one is supposed to be in a slumber."

The two dragonheads slowly start arguing with each other as Jack continues to amass power.

Jack felt another bolt of lightning crash into his body and this time he laughed.

[Lightning Charge: 18/25]

The white spear in his hand pulsed with each new charge, growing brighter and more solid with every passing second.

Jack glared at Spiralus. ’You should have fled when you had the chance.’ His voice echoed across the battlefield.

Even with the crashing water and howling wind, every person within miles heard those words as clearing as if he’d whispered them in their ear.

Spiralus reared back both of its heads. They shouted in unison. "We have devoured kingdoms! We will not be stopped by a mere child!"

But even as the dragon spoke in defiance, Jack could see the tremor in its massive limbs and could smell the fear in the air.

The final lightning bolts struck down in rapid succession, each one brighter than the last. Jack spread his arms wide and let himself become a living lightning rod.

[Lighting Charges: 25/25.]

[Maximum Lightning Charges reached.]

[ Define resonance achieved.]

The transformation to Jack’s body was now complete. Every cell in his body felt like it was on fire.

Jack raised one finger towards Spiralus.

’Branded!’

The word rang out like a sudden belt toll. A bolt of blue lightning lanced from Jack’s fingertip.

It only took a single heartbeat for the bolt of lightning to reach Spiralus. It struck the dragon’s chest just below Typhoon’s gem.

It left a glowing sigil on his chest in the shape of a lightning bolt.

[Target has been branded.]

[You will never miss a strike. The branded mark lasts for 30 minutes. Cooldown: 24 hours.]

The dragon staggered backwards as if it was just struck by a hammer forged by the gods. The sigil was both beautiful to look at and terrible to know the consequences.

"What have you done to me!"

’It’s my gift before I end your life.’ Jack said with a faint smile.

Spiralus launched itself forward with desperate fury. Both heads unleashed an attack directly at Jack.

One vortex made of water and one vortex made of wind. They propelled quick and fast until they merged together to create one giant water tornado.

But Jack was no longer bound by mortal limitations. He moved just as fast as a bolt of thunder. He teleported back and forth from one spot to another leaving trails of white radiance behind him.

’Lightning Steps!’

Jack appeared directly above the dragon’s head, the white spear was directly above his own head like a divine executioner’s blade.

For a moment it seemed like the world had stopped. Everyone stared at Jack wondering what his next move would be.

Then Jack suddenly fell from the sky like a crashing meteor. He launched the spear so fast it broke the sound barrier.

Spiralus tried to dodge, its massive frame moving with surprising grace. But it didn’t matter because Jack had branded the dragon. His spear found its target with the utmost precision punching through the dragon scales.

The very same scales that Alaric struggled with. The spear was embedded in the dragon’s back.

White lightning exploded from inside Spiralus’ body. Scales blew away in all directions.

The dragon screamed so loud that the sound shattered windows in the next town over. Birds filled from the sky, buildings collapsed, and small animals died.

[-52,875 HP]

System, why was the damage so high?

[Calculating.]

[Your divine state increases all damage. It seems that your damage was multiple tenfold.]

The dragon thrashed around like a landed whale on the beach. Jack landed on Spiralus, both heads tried desperately to eat Jack alive.

But it was all in vain, Spiralus couldn’t reach jack no matter how hard it tried. Jack held on with one hand while raising the other towards the storm.

More lightning and thunder descended down onto Jack than anyone had ever seen in their life before.

A single bolt of lightning could kill a man where he stood, but here Jack was consuming more than any person should.

This ends now he thought, as he spoke words that no one had heard in over a thousand years.

’Undying Thunder!’

The response was immediate and apocalyptic. Everyone was in awe of the fight that was going on that no one noticed the clouds above. The clouds were only above Jack, and everywhere else was clear blue skies.

Spiralus’ eyes widened as it felt every single bolt of electricity inside of its body.

"WE YIELD!!!" The dragon cried out.

But Jack simply ignored its plea. The divine energy had burned away everything except for the need to protect his family.

The dragon continued to struggle. The system notifications popped up in front of Jack’s face. He ignored what the system had to say.

’Forgotten God’s Judgment!’

Jack raised his weapon high in the air, and every thunderbolt and lightning bolt converged down towards the tip of his spear.

Jack struck the dragon straight through the gem and into its chest.

At that moment everything went silent. The sky cleared, the water level sank, and the wind returned to normal.

A giant pillar of white lightning erupted from the dragon’s body. It soared into the sky until it disappeared.

[-810,000 Damage.]
