CHAPTER 16: CHAPTER 16: QUALIFICATION

"Count me in." The cool voice arose, and everyone’s hands paused as they looked unexpectedly at Landon Lawson who volunteered to join.

Danielle Carter was slow to react; was this still the aloof Landon Lawson?

"Of... of course you can."

Sienna Quinn frowned slightly, what did Landon Lawson want to do?

Round after round, it was only Landon Lawson spinning, and coincidentally or deliberately, it always pointed to Sienna Quinn.

"President Lawson, it’s your turn to ask President Quinn a question." Danielle Carter looked curiously at the two.

Landon Lawson tapped his fingers on the table, once, twice, three times, as everyone waited for his question.

Sienna pursed her lips; would Landon Lawson reveal their past relationship?

She let out a mocking laugh. How could he? Didn’t he always find her annoying, always hating her following him around?

Having finally shaken her off, why would he bring it up in front of everyone?

The mocking smile on the woman’s lips stung Landon Lawson’s eyes. The question he was about to ask swallowed back at this moment.

"Over these five years, have you been well?"

Sienna was stunned for a moment. Did Landon Lawson actually have a concerned side?

"Of course, well, the world outside is vast; my perspective was too narrow before."

"Narrow perspective?" Landon Lawson’s voice was somewhat low.

Sienna gently tucked her hair behind her ear, her lips curved into a playful smile.

"President Lawson, this... seems like a second question."

Looking at the woman’s provocative gaze, Landon Lawson let out a cold laugh.

Applying a slight force to his wrist, whether intentional or coincidental, it pointed to Sienna again.

Sienna’s brows furrowed slightly; this was intentional by Landon Lawson. Previously, he acted indifferently, so why the display of curiosity now?

"I heard President Quinn once chased someone for five years, going through a lot of trouble to succeed, so why did you leave? Playing hard to get?"

"Playing hard to get? He wasn’t that important; I hadn’t seen many men before, and later realized they were just so-so."

"Are the ones abroad different?"

"Compared to before, they’re indeed better in every way."

The two exchanged words, both with a sharp tension.

Landon Lawson squinted his eyes. This woman’s words were sharp and acerbic. Why didn’t he notice five years ago?

Over these five years, if nothing else grew, her tongue certainly gained prowess. But he had to admit, the more she was like this, the more curious Landon Lawson became. Was this her new tactic? Well, she successfully piqued his interest. What game was she playing?

Axel Yates and the others looked awkwardly at this verbal spar. It seemed the two were not really former friends; it’s lucky if they weren’t enemies.

Felix Orwell laughed heartily, "Sienna, your judgment of people was really lacking back then." He said, giving Landon Lawson a provocative glance.

The latter frowned slightly. Could he know? Did Sienna say something?

"It’s never too late to turn back."

If possible, Sienna would rather have never met Landon Lawson. He was her demon, the biggest one. Having been reborn, how could she get entangled in grievances with him again?

The woman smiled playfully, but that smile was like a glaring thorn in Landon Lawson’s eyes.

Landon Lawson looked at the woman expressionlessly, letting out a cold snort. How was he inferior to that playboy?

The two locked eyes, blocking out the surrounding people and objects.

The cold eyes showed no ripples, the distance making Landon Lawson feel unfamiliar. Was she still the Sienna Quinn from before?

What had occurred five years ago that caused a woman to change so much?

When Vera Yates returned to the box, she held two small exquisite cups, made of pure silver, looking very high-end.

Watching the two looking at each other, the cups in her hand wobbled, and the silver liquid spilled out, a shade of resentment flashing in her eyes. These two mustn’t stay entwined; clearly, Landon Lawson didn’t love her, so why was he so concerned once she returned after five years?

Wasn’t it that he didn’t want to love? For the first time in these ten years, Vera Yates began to doubt Landon Lawson’s heart.

But this doubt left her afraid to bet, unable to afford the gamble.

And about the kidney matter, did Sienna know everything? Her hand gripping the cup turned somewhat pale due to force.

Vera Yates approached Sienna, handing a small cup to her.

"Sienna, let’s drink for your return this time. Forget all the unhappiness from before, okay?"

Saying so, her gaze floated to Landon Lawson, eyes filled with tender affection.

Sienna laughed indifferently, "Better not drink; who knows if Actress Vance put something in it? If we’re comatose and our organs get harvested, that wouldn’t be worth it."

Vera Yates’s mouth twitched slightly. How much did she know about that matter? Did she already know about the failed plan with Miles Grant?

After Sienna and Landon got married, she and Miles began plotting against Sienna. It was only by chance that they saw a piece of news and decided to deceive her for a kidney.

But before they could proceed, she had left. How did she find out?

If Sienna knew, then Landon Lawson...

The woman’s eyelashes trembled twice, caught precisely by Sienna.

In this rebirth, Vera Yates’s intentions were easily read. Five years ago, Landon Lawson treated her indifferently, and Vera Yates would intervene, not to mention now when the man seemed very interested in her?

"Sienna still loves to joke, huh? I’m no organ-trafficking human trafficker." Vera Yates covered her mouth, laughing shyly, then downed her drink in one go, looking at Sienna with interest.

"She can’t hold her liquor." Landon Lawson suddenly spoke. It was known that Sienna couldn’t handle alcohol since childhood. Although he hadn’t paid much attention to her, he knew this. Yet, what he didn’t know was that over the years, Sienna’s drinking capacity was no longer what it used to be.

Vera Yates clutched the empty glass, head lowered. Was this a display of concern?

"President Lawson truly knows how to show concern; you even know my drinking capacity." Sienna intentionally spoke ambiguously. She wanted to see how much patience Vera Yates had today.

Vera Yates’s face changed slightly, a shade of grievance flashing in her eyes.

"Sienna, I’ll drink for you." Felix Orwell’s fingers barely touched the glass before Landon Lawson snatched it away.

"I think I am more qualified for this drink."

Seeing Felix Orwell intercepting for Sienna, he furiously dug his nails into his palm.

Who was he? Shielding his wife from drinking?

Landon Lawson’s action left everyone shocked. Protecting another woman in front of his girlfriend, his tone so righteous.

What exactly was the relationship between Landon Lawson and Sienna Quinn?

In an instant, a question mark arose in the minds of all those unaware.

Felix Orwell crossed his arms, not competing with him.

Just as Landon Lawson was about to down the drink, Vera Yates suddenly slapped the glass from his hand.
