CHAPTER 28: CHAPTER 28: TWO TIGERS CANNOT SHARE ONE MOUNTAIN, UNLESS ONE IS MALE AND THE OTHER FEMALE

Jason spoke to both of them simultaneously, one with both talent and looks, the other young and promising. They were both quite remarkable individuals, and spoke gracefully. He couldn’t help but admire the two companies even more.

He smiled and said, "No wonder the company is always torn about who to collaborate with. Seeing it today, you both really are neck and neck."

Sienna Quinn tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, her confident smile matched with an imposing presence. Although her aura wasn’t as commanding as Landon Lawson’s, it was more like the gentle flow of water. If Landon Lawson was an iron fist, then Sienna Quinn was the cotton that absorbed its force.

Landon Lawson looked at Sienna’s rare gentleness, his eyes narrowed. Previously, this tender attitude was reserved for him, but now it seemed she was courteous to everyone except him, with whom she exchanged harsh words. Anyone unaware would think he had taken her life.

Yet, in the previous life, he was one of the culprits.

"President Lawson and President Quinn, you truly make a talented and beautiful pair. It’s difficult to imagine what it would look like for such outstanding people to become a couple—debating over something every day for such a lengthy period."

Jason laughed heartily; it was just a joke, and the speaker meant no harm, but the listener took it to heart. Nolan Shaw’s palms were sweaty with nerves, a thin layer of sweat formed on his forehead. Jason really knew how to talk; just a joke could touch upon their sore spots.

And Vera Yates’s face suddenly changed, but in the next moment, she returned to her signature smile and leaned most of her body against Landon Lawson’s arm, her lips curled into a sweet smile.

"Jason truly knows how to speak. Everyone knows Stephen is my boyfriend, and with a powerful woman like President Quinn, if she found a similar companion, it would only lead to disharmony in marriage, with neither yielding to the other."

"Miss Vance is right. I’ve also heard the saying ’too many tigers in a mountain leads to conflict,’" Jason chuckled. It was just a joke, really.

"’Too many tigers in a mountain, unless one is male and the other female,’" Danielle Carter sat nearby, muttering with laughter.

As soon as the words fell, a cold stare landed on her, making her shiver intensely. She looked up to find Vera Yates glaring at her harshly.

Danielle’s words were a direct stab at Vera Yates’s heart.

Were these two not husband and wife?

Even though Sienna had been away for five years, Landon Lawson hadn’t signed the divorce papers. Those who knew they were still married weren’t many, and Vera Yates was one of them.

Vera Yates’s expression turned exceptionally ugly, she dug her nails into her palm, leaving crescent moon-shaped marks.

Danielle realized she had misspoken, quickly lowering her head. Vera Yates’s expression earlier was truly frightening, causing her to shiver continuously even until now.

Sienna’s body casually shifted forward slightly, just enough to block Vera Yates’s gaze toward Danielle.

Vera Yates offered a casual smile, "Sienna’s assistant is indeed young, playful, and cute. There’s a sense of energy."

Danielle’s face changed; her earlier reckless words had indeed embarrassed Sienna, and it was not only outside but also was a slap to Sienna’s face.

Vera Yates’s words were multi-layered, clearly insinuating that Sienna didn’t properly discipline her assistant and in this kind of setting, a small employee didn’t have the weight to speak.

Sienna’s expression didn’t change, carefully examining Vera Yates, her lips curled into a mocking smile. "Compared to President Lawson’s oversight, it still lags behind. President Lawson is more adept at romance, inseparable with his girlfriend, wishing to keep her by his side at all times, even in such serious business occasions."

"Though Danielle is just a little assistant, she can still lend a hand. But I really can’t comprehend, why does President Lawson bring Actress Vance to this kind of place? Other than romance, there’s really nothing else I can think of."

Sienna’s lines were delivered in fluent English.

Not only did Landon Lawson and the others hear it, but Jason and the others heard it clearly too. They exchanged glances and looked at Vera Yates and Landon Lawson with peculiar gazes.

Landon Lawson raised his eyebrows, his calm eyes finally stirred, looking at this sharp-tongued woman with interest.

What had she experienced in those five years?

This time, instead of anger, he felt a sense of curiosity.

"You..."

Vera Yates’s face underwent a drastic change, intending to blame Sienna for lack of discipline, only to be swiftly countered.

Was this truly Sienna Quinn? Why did it feel like she had become a different person, so assertive, not tolerating any dirt, seeking revenge for the slightest injury, leaving people unfamiliar? Such grievances, from childhood, had never occurred to her, suddenly thrown off balance by Sienna’s change in character, rendering her speechless.

"I... I, being Stephen’s girlfriend, just wanted to fulfill my host’s duties."

Vera Yates composed herself and explained unhurriedly,

Landon Lawson extended a hand, interrupting Vera Yates’s attempt to continue speaking.

"Stephen..." Vera Yates looked at him in surprise, was he going to stick up for Sienna? However, Landon Lawson didn’t even glance at her but instead directed his gaze at the woman a short distance away, his voice so calm it hid his emotions.

"President Quinn has really hit the mark with her words. Not only did she counter, but she also influenced the HR people’s impression of us. President Quinn certainly made some great calculations."

This return of Sienna Quinn caused Landon Lawson to see her in a whole new light. She’s become fiercely meticulous and vengeful, whereas the crying woman trailing after him in the past seemed like a false image.

"If not for President Lawson’s opportunities, how would I have found flaws? Ultimately, I should be the one thanking you."

Sienna picked up a glass of wine, her nonchalant demeanour neither arrogant nor servile, turning to toast Jason, completely disregarding Landon Lawson and Vera Yates.

"Stephen, why does Sienna seem like a different person? What did she learn from Axel Yates during those five years?"

Vera Yates cast side glances at Landon Lawson secretly; she wouldn’t let anyone snatch away the man she had eyes on. Five years ago, she schemed to put Sienna in Landon Lawson’s bed merely because Old Mr. Lawson favoured Sienna, forcibly making her Landon Lawson’s wife.

And her intention was to make Landon Lawson consequently hate Sienna.

But she unexpectedly refused to play by the rules, leaving suddenly without a trace, only leaving behind a divorce agreement so carefree, then why come back?

If you must leave, you must leave thoroughly. Since she left, abandoned the position of Mrs. Lawson, providing her an opportunity, why would she yield it willingly?
