CHAPTER 284: CHAPTER 284: NUMEROUS MISFORTUNES

Moreover, Miles Grant firmly believed that Sienna Quinn definitely wasn’t aware of these things, so he felt that it couldn’t have been Sienna who caused these troubles, and she certainly didn’t have the ability to start a company right now.

Thinking about this, Miles Grant felt extremely exhausted, as if his body had reached its limit. With a surgery scheduled in a couple of days, he unknowingly fell asleep.

This time, he was very clever to put his phone on silent. Even if it were the end of the world, he’d want to have a peaceful sleep before escaping.

When Miles Grant opened his eyes again, he didn’t know how many days and nights had passed. He groggily picked up his phone and glanced at it. There were several missed calls, all from his father.

A buzzing went off in Miles Grant’s head; it felt like there might be another problem with the company.

Lately, he felt overwhelmed by some of the things happening.

But being the only child in the family, with issues in the company, he simply couldn’t sit back and do nothing.

After adjusting his state of mind, Miles Grant obediently sat up, picked up his phone, and prepared to call his father to find out what was happening with the company.

He closed his eyes, waiting quietly for his father to answer the call, and the phone was answered after just one ring.

His father’s voice sounded much older, as if he had been waiting for Miles Grant to answer his call for days.

As soon as the call connected, Miles Grant’s father said, "It’s been over a day, and you finally picked up the phone."

Miles Grant originally thought his father would yell at him, but unexpectedly his father’s voice was so soft and weak.

Feeling that the situation was indeed serious, Miles asked, "What’s wrong? Has something happened with the company again?"

It seemed his father had been waiting for Miles to ask this exact question: "No new problem, it’s just that recently I’ve contacted many partners. Just when a deal is about to be finalized, a small company swoops in and steals it. Once or twice is fine, but over these days, they’ve taken away many partners. At this rate, the company is bound to collapse."

Miles Grant had anticipated this issue for a while. To him, it wasn’t a severe problem, and he didn’t feel panicked, saying, "I actually saw this coming. I have a surgery this afternoon, and after it’s done, I’ll come home to deal with it. Don’t be too anxious."

His father was moved by Miles Grant’s sudden gentleness. It had been a long time since they spoke so affectionately, and he hadn’t felt such a sense of security from his son in a while.

Feeling his heart melt, his father softly and kindly said, "Alright!"

After all, in the end, he’s still his father.

Miles Grant was also surprised and hung up the call without saying much more. After adjusting his mental state in bed, he immediately got up and changed clothes, planning to head to the hospital.

Being away for over two days, there were many surgeries waiting for him at the hospital.

After collecting himself, Miles put aside all his worries, no longer thinking about who was behind these issues. He just wanted to focus on completing his surgeries peacefully.

He couldn’t afford to lose the job he loved.

Miles Grant quickly drove to the hospital, got his clothes ready, and was about to enter the operating room to administer anesthesia to the patient.

"Wait." The patient on the surgical table, about to undergo a major operation, suddenly spoke.

Everything in the operating room was prepared, and it seemed the surgery would proceed smoothly, but nobody expected this interruption.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at the patient.

The patient said, "I don’t want this doctor to perform the surgery. Please switch to someone else."

Miles Grant’s eyes widened in surprise, wondering why things were suddenly so difficult, with issues at his father’s company and now problems with a patient.

Miles had always trusted his skills, having built a good reputation in the hospital over the years, with no patient ever complaining about failed surgeries. This sudden problem took him by surprise.

One of the chief doctors tried to comfort the patient, saying, "Rest assured, Dr. Grant has a great reputation here. Many people specifically come to him for surgery. It’s safe."

But the patient stubbornly said, "I don’t care how well he performs surgeries. Someone told me his surgeries aren’t reliable. I can’t entrust my life to such a person."

Miles Grant seemed to understand what was going on; someone was undoubtedly causing trouble behind the scenes, so he didn’t say much, just patted the chief doctor’s shoulder and said, "It’s okay, chief. If the patient doesn’t trust me, I won’t do my best in the surgery. It’s better if I step aside. I don’t want to stress the patient and increase the surgery’s risks."

The chief felt troubled; changing or reducing the team suddenly during surgery could increase risks.

Although it wasn’t a major surgery, they were used to working with Dr. Grant. Changing suddenly could bring some discomfort.

Miles Grant noticed the chief’s dilemma, nodded slightly, patted the chief’s shoulder twice, then removed his gloves and walked out.

He felt that recent events were too sudden and coincidental, realizing without a doubt that someone was causing these problems intentionally.

Not knowing what to do, Miles was hesitating in the changing room when his father called again.

Feeling a tightening in his chest, Miles had no better idea and answered the call.

His father anxiously said, "I finally reached an agreement with an old partner to cooperate, and just sent them a batch of products, but there were massive quality issues. Now they want us to compensate a hefty amount."

Standing there, Miles Grant felt like he couldn’t bear it any longer. He didn’t expect problems to keep cropping up so frequently.
