CHAPTER 287: CHAPTER 287: TAKING THE INITIATIVE

"I completely trust your abilities. You’re sure to resolve this matter. When your father called me earlier, I knew if he hadn’t already sought your opinion, you definitely wouldn’t accept this funding. So, I didn’t agree to it."

Miles never imagined his father had descended to this level, actually seeking others out for the company’s reputation. His father had always been proud, always felt like he was above others, never lowering himself to ask for favors. Even when accepting help from the Lawson Family, he always took the forefront.

Miles’ father was certainly not an easy person to deal with.

Originally, he thought his father was too proud and lazy, leaving these matters to him to handle. But now, it seemed that wasn’t the case. He was so humble, begging another man for the company’s benefit.

It’s clear the company has encountered an exceptionally serious problem for him to act this way.

Miles was also very upset, responding coldly, "Mm!"

Landon saw Miles wasn’t in high spirits and didn’t want to say much moreover he already knew who the mastermind behind this incident was. Instead of exchanging unnecessary pleasantries here, he’d rather help him resolve the root of the problem.

After exchanging a few pleasantries, the two hung up.

Seated, Landon placed a hand under his chin, appearing deep in thought, a conflicted expression on his face. After all, this involved his good bro and Sienna. It seemed unjust to side with either.

After pondering for some time, Landon sent out a text: "Tomorrow, at the old spot in the café downstairs from the office, I’ll see you!"

"Ding Dong, master, a message arrived!"

Sienna had just showered and settled Evan, when she heard her phone ping.

With one hand, she worked a dry towel through her damp hair, while the other opened and checked the text.

However, upon seeing the text, Sienna was not surprised, as if what she had been waiting for had finally unfolded.

Nimbly, she responded with two words: "Okay!"

Landon, lost in thought at his seat, suddenly received the reply, and felt incredibly uneasy, as if heading into a pivotal negotiation the next day.

Landon arrived half an hour earlier than their agreed time, eager and anxious to discover Sienna’s true intentions.

Sienna arrived at the café perfectly on time, seating herself at their usual spot.

Landon spoke first, "I’ve already ordered for you, a cappuccino without sugar or milk."

He chivalrously pushed the cappuccino towards Sienna using two fingers.

Appreciatively, Sienna accepted, taking a small sip from her cup.

Seeing Sienna not inclined to speak or explain, Landon took the initiative to ask, "Have you recently taken action against the Grant Group?"

Sienna knew Landon had come regarding this matter, yet she was surprised by his forthright questioning, feeling a slight discomfort.

Remaining composed, she simply said, "Yes!"

Surprised by Sienna’s candid admission, Landon felt the distance between them widen with just a single, stark word.

Landon, evidently stirred, asked, "Why? What did Miles do to provoke you, that you’d use such ruthless measures against him?"

Sienna replied sarcastically, amused, "Ruthless? When he struck back hard at me initially, did you not know what he did? Oh, by the way, you two are in cahoots; there’s nothing to mention about tolerating or not tolerating it."

Landon sensed Sienna’s words were sharp, and they got under his skin, making him uncomfortable, "You don’t need to nitpick here with me. I’m not talking about that. Even if you harbor grudges against him, it was long ago; why persist in wrangling over it?"

Sienna’s happiness turned to sadness as she angrily retorted, "Nitpicking? I don’t want to say much. He’s your buddy, you defending him doesn’t affect me much. I’m dead set on this."

Landon, equally upset, responded, "If my good bro is in trouble, I won’t ignore it. If you persist, we may turn into enemies."

Sienna relaxed her tense expression and said, "Enemies? When have we not been enemies? Right now, my benevolence towards you stems only from considering Evan. Don’t presume you hold any sway here, say whatever you please."

After saying this, Sienna grabbed her bag and left the café, not once glancing back at the man she had left.

Landon sat in his seat, equally incensed, never expecting the meeting to be this awkward. He had intended to persuade Sienna not to target Miles so vehemently but instead, made the situation tense.

Storming back to the office, Sienna felt extremely dissatisfied with today’s meeting. She’d assumed Landon was a mere mediator intending to assist, not realizing Miles held more significance to him.

Felix and Chiara, witnessing Sienna’s fury upon her return, promptly abandoned their tasks and rushed to her office to inquire about the situation.

Sienna recounted everything to them, Felix and Chiara exchanged glances and resolutely assured "Don’t worry, even if Landon personally assists him, we’ll turn the Grant Group and Vance Group upside down."

Hearing their words, Sienna’s fighting spirit reignited.

All three met each other’s gaze, realizing while the task may not be extremely daunting, they still felt considerable discontent.

Watching Sienna, Felix shook his head slightly; he hadn’t intended to get involved directly but seeing Landon persistently urging Sienna, it was another story.
