I Have A Solo Mommy Plan, But Daddy Refuses to Let Go
Chapter 288: Femme Fatale
CHAPTER 288: CHAPTER 288: FEMME FATALE
How dare she come to cause trouble for Sienna Quinn? Just this alone is suspicious.
"Looks like Landon Lawson truly is someone who doesn’t follow the rules."
Last time, Felix Orwell thought he had been clear with his words, but Landon still wants to get involved. This matter is not as easy as it seems.
Sienna gently shook her head; this was really a matter between her and Landon Lawson, and she didn’t want Miles Grant and company to interfere.
Sienna never thought Landon would come to her at this moment, especially for his close friend. He had clearly promised to help her before, but in the end chose the other man at the critical moment.
Felix, observing Sienna’s distressed expression, spoke with some uneasiness, "If I don’t take steps to prevent this matter, and if he really intervenes, our actions will be hard to proceed."
Sienna pursed her lips, her stunning little face showing a trace of doubt. Clearly, this matter had reached a critical point, and since he knew from the start, there was no way he could just stand by.
"Boss, why is he interfering in this matter? Didn’t we make our intentions clear enough? If he comes again, we wouldn’t mind taking action against the Lawson Group either," Chiara Thorne scoffed.
Whenever Landon’s name was mentioned, Chiara’s face turned sour. Actually, she had already learned from Sean Carter that Sienna knew about Felix’s intentions, but this couldn’t be accepted. Not even those familiar with Sean or Chiara expected it, since it seemed Felix’s pursuit was just a matter of time. But now, things had suddenly escalated to this point, and no one could guarantee what might happen in the future.
Seeing Landon once more wasn’t out of the question, but going back with empty words now was pointless. Plus, he couldn’t bring himself to take action against him.
Even if Landon truly stands against her, could she really take action against him?
Landon stormed back to his company; not only did today’s discussions fail, but he also damaged his relationship with Sienna. They had just made some progress, and now they’re enemies again.
Full of rage, Landon was walking through the company corner when he overheard two girls whispering.
"Could you believe how ruthless that woman was? She had already pressed her down for a spell, and now she managed to fight back and start a business."
"She’s indeed impressive. I’ve heard even the Vance Group is on the brink now. Who knows why she’s back—maybe just to take back a man?"
Standing aside, Landon was struggling to digest the conversation. Could it be that the group was also facing issues?
But he and Vera Yates had just held a press conference together. What is Sienna trying to achieve with all this? Hasn’t she got what she wanted?
Landon furiously strode outside, feeling it was time to focus on something else now.
Driving to Vera’s apartment, he was already familiar with the place; even the security guard downstairs recognized him. At this moment, Landon had no extra thoughts.
Arriving at Vera’s door, before he knocked, he heard a loud argument inside.
"What’s happening here? Is this the outcome you want to show the family? Vera, how did our Vance family end up with such a failure like you?"
Mrs. Vance, with a harsh face, slammed a stack of newspapers on the table, yelling at Vera.
Vera’s face was sullen, looking at the newspapers she began slowly, "When did the family ever treat me like Vance family? Aren’t I a tool for you to use? So stop giving me those grand excuses. Now you see, I like Stephen, but he doesn’t like me. Why don’t you let me marry that man then? I’ve accepted my fate."
Vera’s voice carried a trace of helplessness; she’s done all she can, but still received no reciprocation.
Mrs. Vance coldly stared at Vera, having heard more or less about Vera’s doings; now that Landon’s line has been cut, how could she be satisfied?
"Even if you’re willing to swallow this humiliation, our Vance family can’t, especially with everyone watching our joke. Is this your reward to us?"
Vera bit her lip tightly, unable to advance nor retreat, wondering what else they wanted her to do. What can she even do now?
Watching Vera’s lack of action, Mrs. Vance coldly laughed. "When you involved the family, we knew. We’ve kept quiet merely by ignoring it, and the family has already cleaned up after you. Otherwise, you think kidnapping Evan Quinn could truly be covered up?"
Vera was startled, staring at Mrs. Vance with a difficult look. How did Mrs. Vance know even this? Why did it come to this? Has she lost her place within the family?
As her acts were uncovered, Vera felt too ashamed to face everyone, biting her lip with a face flushed red and blue.
A charming smile slowly appeared on Vera’s lips; mumbling, "How long have you known about this? Why hasn’t the family told me?"
Vera’s troubled face finally showed a change, watching Mrs. Vance’s still alluring face as she coldly smiled and said, "Did you really think our family is just loafing? You’re still a child before us. We initially thought if you handled that child, your relationship with Stephen would stabilize. That’s why we haven’t rushed you for so long, but you didn’t, and worse—you botched it. In the end, it’s because you weren’t ruthless enough."
"Ruthless? Let’s see who’s more ruthless. I’ll make him wish for life and death alike. My previous failure would’ve made her suffer eternally if I hadn’t hesitated with his son’s kidnapping."
Landon stood in a daze, hearing those few words was enough to know they were talking about Sienna Quinn.
