CHAPTER 328: CHAPTER 328: I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY

How could a mommy who loves me so much not be here knowing I’m sick? So when I think about it, it’s because my daddy didn’t tell mommy.

"For the past five years, every time I got sick, mommy was with me. This time won’t be any different," Evan Quinn pouted, his adorable expression full of liveliness.

Listening to Evan’s "accusation," Landon Lawson’s heart skipped a beat.

For a five-year-old child, a mother is indeed the most dependable person, let alone Evan, who has always been with Sienna Quinn since birth.

Now that he’s sick, naturally, the person he thinks of in his weakest moments is Sienna.

Landon didn’t feel jealous; instead, he reflected on how, for the past five years, he shouldn’t have treated Sienna with indifference.

Some things, once they’ve passed, are truly gone. No matter how much you try to make up for it afterward, it’s no use.

During those five years when he was most needed, Landon wasn’t there.

"I’m sorry!"

These simple three words didn’t seem so simple when they came from Landon’s mouth.

Evan looked up in surprise, glanced at his father, and snorted twice, "Just be good to me and mommy in the future."

He stole a glance at Landon’s arm out of the corner of his eye, a look so subtle that Landon didn’t notice. Evan had actually already noticed the abnormality in Landon’s arm.

But he had never mentioned it.

The strong sense of pride in adults made Evan know he couldn’t speak recklessly anyway.

"I will take good care of you and your mommy," Landon said solemnly. Even though he was just speaking to a five-year-old child, his earnestness was full of seriousness. Both he and Evan knew Landon wasn’t joking.

Just as the two of them, big and small, were confronting each other, a rush of footsteps suddenly echoed in the hallway.

Before Landon could open the door, with a bang, someone slammed it open from outside. Sienna Quinn stared dumbfoundedly at the two of them inside, biting her lips tightly, her eyes teary as she looked at Evan lying on the bed.

Earlier that morning, when Sienna was in a foggy slumber, she reached out to touch the empty space beside her and realized the man who always slept next to her wasn’t there, waking her up with a start.

Coming downstairs, she found out from the old butler that Evan had been sick since the night before and Landon had taken him to the hospital.

Sienna’s soul was almost scared out of her.

The old butler told Sienna not to worry, letting her know which hospital and which room to find Evan, but before he could say much more, Sienna hurried out.

The news at the hospital terrified Sienna, and she rushed there as fast as she could, only to find Evan lively and well in good spirits beside Landon. She breathed a sigh of relief.

"Mommy! You’re here!" Evan called out to Sienna, full of energy and joy.

Sienna blinked her eyes, smiling as she walked over.

Understanding the situation, Landon tactfully stepped away from Evan’s bed, moving toward the window.

"Evan, what’s happened to you?"

Sienna looked at Evan, who was covered in rashes, feeling heartbroken.

Even though the rashes had faded quite a bit, they were still numerous enough to cause Sienna concern.

Evan shook his head, indicating he didn’t know, and pointed at Landon with his finger, saying loudly, "Mommy, you should ask daddy. Daddy brought me to the hospital and took care of me all night, so he should know what illness I have."

Hearing Evan’s words, Sienna looked over at Landon.

"Chloe has roseola, the doctor said it’s nothing serious, it’ll resolve on its own," Landon said with a slight hint of guilt, although the expression on his face was fleeting and perfectly hidden.

After he finished speaking, he glanced at Evan, "You two haven’t had breakfast, right? I’ll go down and get some now."

After Landon left, Sienna lifted her hand to touch Evan’s cheek, her face full of heartache.

"Evan, do you feel unwell anywhere? If you do, you must tell mommy, alright?"

"I’m not in pain, mommy, didn’t you forget Chloe is as tough as nails?"

Sienna playfully tapped Evan’s little nose, "Tough as nails, really? You think you’re that strong?"

Evan burst into giggles, grabbing Sienna’s hand to "report."

"Actually, I think daddy really loves you, mommy. Look, he’s quite attentive to me too. Why can’t the three of us just live like this, wouldn’t that be nice?"

Hearing Evan’s words calmed Sienna gradually. Thinking about it carefully, it was all just something that happened last night. But Landon hadn’t let the butler contact her until just now.

In the end, he simply wanted her to have a good night’s sleep.

Words without intent still had an impact on Sienna, and it felt like a string within her heart had been touched, stirring up her emotions.

Sienna pondered for a while before gently saying to Evan, "I understand, you little rascal, how did you end up educating mommy now?"

"Because I want mommy to be happy," Evan stuck out his tongue playfully, his pretty little face full of cuteness.

"I’m very happy right now, as long as you’re by my side, Chloe, that’s pure happiness for me." Saying this, she pulled Evan into her embrace, softly sniffling.

Leaning into Sienna’s familiar scent, Evan spoke softly, "But every time you’re with daddy, you always have a smile on your face, being with daddy makes you happy, mommy, so don’t lie."

The soft and sweet voice repeatedly struck Sienna’s heart.

Although this pretty little face was full of red rashes, not a bit could dim the brightness of his eyes, shining brilliantly, making him an undeniable presence.

Those eyes saw right into Sienna’s heart.

Whether she was with Landon or not wasn’t just her concern; it was crucially important to Evan as well.

"Mommy understands now." Sienna lightly embraced Evan.

Evan suddenly said, "Mommy, daddy’s hand..."

"It’s just temporary, it will get better," Sienna replied softly.

The door to the hospital room swung open, and in came Nolan Shaw with food he’d bought, placing it on the table, "Miss Quinn, here’s the meal I’ve bought."

"Where’s Landon?" The one who left was Landon, but now Nolan came in, so how could Sienna not be surprised?

Actually, Landon had already called Nolan, and when he got to the hospital, he just took the breakfast from Landon.

"President Lawson is handling some things outside now."

"Handling matters?" Sienna was taken aback. Just what could Landon be dealing with in a hospital? Sienna couldn’t figure it out.

"It’s... it’s about Miles Grant."

When Nolan came up earlier, he just happened to run into Landon, and overheard some things by chance.
