CHAPTER 333: CHAPTER 333: THE VISITOR CHECKING ON THE SICK

"Where did Mommy go? Why hasn’t she come back yet?" Evan Quinn sipped his milk tea, glancing toward the doorway every now and then, but he hadn’t seen Sienna Quinn’s silhouette once.

Landon Lawson sat beside him, looking through the files in his hands. Just a moment ago, an assistant had brought over some unresolved paperwork from the office.

Seeing his daddy engrossed in his work, the little boy shook his head in resignation. His parents truly were a perfect match, always busy with work no matter what the situation—truly model workers. If there were ever a competition for this, they would probably be each other’s biggest rivals.

"Daddy, don’t you want to bring Mommy back?" He sat by the hospital bed, swinging his chubby little legs and biting into another pearl, speaking to himself.

Landon Lawson, who was absorbed in reading documents, suddenly had his pupils constrict slightly. His otherwise placid demeanor was interrupted as he always got distracted by anything related to Sienna Quinn.

Evan Quinn noticed this and chuckled, his seemingly aloof daddy was actually secretly warm-hearted.

"Do you have any good ideas?"

Ever since reentering the hospital room, Landon hadn’t said a word, but now he finally spoke up.

"Hmm, I thought you didn’t care." Evan Quinn hopped off the hospital bed, wearing the slippers that the hospital had provided, and ran over to Landon Lawson, studying him seriously. "If you want to win back Mommy, you have to show sincerity!"

"Like what?"

As usual, Landon was sparing in his words, but he listened intently, showing the little boy that he was serious at this moment.

"Dummy, girls like romantic gestures. Even though Mommy is strong now, she’s still just a girl." Evan Quinn pointed outside with a serious face, thinking about his future happiness depending on these unreliable parents.

Landon’s brows twitched a little when he heard Evan’s words. Those normally serene eyes finally had a spark, as if he suddenly understood something.

Cre-ak!

The hospital room door was pushed open.

"President Lawson, you’re so hard to find; why did you run to the hospital?" An annoying voice made Landon feel a bit distressed.

Evan Quinn turned his head and stared at the man who just walked in.

With his short yellow hair and arrogant demeanor, his black eyes were full of mischief. Though handsome, his demeanor suggested someone much younger, like a fresh university graduate rather than someone close to 28.

Even Evan couldn’t help but take another look, always feeling that this uncle was a very interesting person.

The man seemed to notice the gaze locked onto him and looked over. He saw a soft and adorable little boy standing there, looking extremely cute, like a chubby little dumpling.

Having always liked children, he immediately exclaimed, "Oh my, whose adorable little kid is this? Even with those little rashes on the face, still so playful and cute."

He walked over and hugged Evan, squeezing his little body restlessly, eventually pinching Evan’s chubby cheeks.

"He’s naturally my son." Landon’s clear voice made the man withdraw his playful antics, looking a bit disappointedly at the cute little boy in his arms and at the emotionless Landon.

"Such an agile and adorable little kid is your son? If I hadn’t seen his face, I would really doubt he’s your son."

Landon snorted, "If he’s not my son, could he be yours?"

After a pause, Landon asked, "Why did you come here?"

Martin Kerr released Evan, sat beside Landon, and chin in hand, stared at Landon; his eyes filled with admiration: "I just couldn’t find you; if I could, I wouldn’t have come to the hospital."

Watching Martin, Evan couldn’t help twitching his lips slightly.

This weird uncle looked at Daddy with eyes like those strange aunties outside; could this weird uncle be...

Thinking of this, Evan shivered violently. It was indeed a chilling speculation.

Being stared at by Martin made Landon uncomfortable. "Do I need to report everything I do to you?"

"That’s not impossible," Martin said jokingly, smiling cheekily.

"Haven’t seen much skill, but your skin is quite thick." Landon sneered, making Martin shiver as if trying to shake off the cold air.

Feigning sadness, Martin looked tearily at Landon and said, "Saying things like that is really hurtful." He pretended to cry.

Landon frowned, glancing at Evan, who was eagerly watching the drama unfold. "Don’t disturb my son’s rest."

"Really your son, huh?" Martin looked at Evan again.

"Is he your son, then? You didn’t think you could have such a good-looking son, did you?" Landon sneered.

"It’s just having a wife and kid, so what’s great about that?"

"It is great."

Landon said with pride; in this area, he truly felt a sense of achievement and pride.

"Tell me, why are you looking for me?"

"That partnership ran into problems."

Martin, usually smiling cheekily, suddenly dropped his grin and knitted his eyebrows tightly.

Seeing Martin like this, Landon realized the gravity of the situation. Though he often teased Martin, he recognized Martin’s capabilities; otherwise, he wouldn’t have cooperated with Martin on such a big deal.

Their family’s old master wouldn’t have let Martin handle it.

"What happened?"

Landon asked.

Martin glanced at the little boy, and Landon, aware that this matter couldn’t tolerate any mishaps, said to Evan: "Wait for me in the room for a bit; I’ll be back soon."

Having spoken, Landon walked out with Martin, finding a secluded location. Martin finally spoke, "We’ve encountered a competitor."

"How is that possible? Did anyone else know about this?" Landon furrowed his handsome brows.

"This morning, my father called and said someone has had their eye on this for a whole eight years." Martin hadn’t anticipated that this secret partnership would be known to outsiders. Without the morning call, he would’ve thought the deal was a certainty.

Landon’s brows knitted tightly, "Do you know who it is? In this city, besides me, no one else can handle this deal."

"I’m not sure. I only know they moved here eight years ago, have lived quite a low-profile life, and never get involved with your circle."
