I Have A Solo Mommy Plan, But Daddy Refuses to Let Go
Chapter 334: Ever-Changing Circumstances
CHAPTER 334: CHAPTER 334: EVER-CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES
"I should have realized long ago that this matter was not simple."
Ever since Landon Lawson took over the Lawson Group, he had never made such a low-level mistake.
He used to be more stable than anyone else in his work, but recently, things have been happening so fast that he couldn’t keep up.
The return of Sienna Quinn had caused his heart to be in a constant state of turmoil, which is why he didn’t notice the intrusion.
Martin Kerr’s brows remained tightly furrowed as he scrutinized Landon Lawson up and down: "I actually know that you’ve been dealing with some issues lately, but now I suspect that all these matters were orchestrated by our adversary."
Deng!
Landon Lawson clearly felt a chill run down his spine.
In all these years, such a sensation had only ever appeared in his dreams, particularly when he saw Sienna’s corpse, and he hadn’t felt it since. But why? Why was it happening now? Landon didn’t dare to imagine that if all this was indeed manipulated, when had it started?
How deep must one’s scheming be to have laid all these plans from such an early time.
Seeing the furrowed gaze of Landon Lawson, Martin Kerr realized that this situation was far from simple, but they could not retreat anymore.
"What should we do? My family’s elder has already put in most of his fortune, and we can’t afford to lose."
This time, Martin was genuinely anxious. If they rashly withdrew, the previous investments would be wasted without a trace.
"We won’t retreat!"
"But we’re in danger too." Right now, Martin and Landon were like insects on the same rope, liable to be pulled by anyone at any time, caught in a dilemma where actions would be constrained.
"So what? Do you want to back out?" Landon pressed.
"We can’t back out." Martin scratched his head frantically.
"Since we can’t retreat, why think of retreating at all? It’s still uncertain who will win." The intense aura around Landon surged, and Martin shivered from the powerful atmosphere.
Staring blankly into Landon’s eyes.
Now he finally understood why his father wanted to partner with Landon Lawson. Typically self-assured, he felt flustered by this situation, yet Landon maintained his best condition.
Composed, calm, and unperturbed.
All these words were no exaggeration when applied to Landon Lawson.
Martin, who had felt unsettled, found himself calming down at this moment.
"I know what to do now." He said as his eyes abruptly became fierce; the young man’s innate competitiveness was awakened by only a few words from Landon.
Landon nodded and said, "Since you know what to do, and we cannot shrink back, let’s not speak irrelevant words, diminishing our own spirit while exalting others."
The man’s cool eyes didn’t flutter at all, as if what Martin had spoken about wasn’t a matter of life and death between two companies.
Calm, so very calm.
Martin, who considered Landon his idol, admired him even more.
"Don’t look at me like that, it’s stressful."
Landon’s cold voice interrupted Martin’s admiration, and he turned toward the ward, speaking in a detached tone as he walked, "Don’t come in and scare my son."
Scare...
Martin stared blankly at Landon’s back, his face filled with indescribable expressions.
For a moment, feeling a mix of emotions.
When Landon returned to the ward and saw the young child sitting on the bed, the previously heavy expression vanished without a trace, even the shrewd baby couldn’t discern any difference.
"Let’s go home first, your mommy will probably not be coming back for a while."
"Alright, then we’ll wait for mommy at home."
Landon packed the baby’s things, along with facial ointments prescribed by the doctor, and they went home early together.
Meanwhile, Sienna Quinn remained at the Yates Group.
Danielle Carter looked at the woman in front of her with tears welling up in her eyes, "President Quinn, what should I do about this? If President Yates finds out that the café is gone when he returns, how would I explain it to him?"
"Stop crying. With me here, while I can’t cover for long, I can at least hold out until he returns." Sienna spoke softly.
Danielle managed a bitter smile and nodded; the fact that Sienna could help with this matter gave her a sense of relief.
While the two were conversing in the office, suddenly there was the sound of the door opening, interrupting their dialogue.
"This isn’t a place where you can speak or act as you wish. You must know this isn’t your company," Anson Linton mockingly remarked as he entered with his assistant, who also wore a taunting expression.
Sienna frowned at Anson Linton’s entry but quickly relaxed her brow, smiling warmly: "Director Linton, how leisurely you are! Since when have you taken to eavesdropping around corners?"
Anson’s brows twitched, glaring threateningly at Sienna, "You’re in the Yates Group now, better watch your words. You’re only here due to past associations, otherwise, I could have the security escort you out right now."
When Anson and his assistant returned to the office, they directed someone to watch over the place, waiting to see when Sienna would leave. Noticing that she hadn’t left by then had him unsettled, fearing she might disrupt his plans in her stay.
Sienna pursed her lips, gauging Anson, clearly aware of how much he feared her.
"I only came here today to have a good chat with you, Director Linton."
"What can we possibly talk about? We’re no longer in the same company, making us competitors. I advise against such interactions moving forward." Anson, anticipating trouble from Sienna, naturally sought to distance her from the company as much as possible.
In face of Anson’s stark rebuff, Sienna simply laughed, "President Linton, we’ve worked together for many years. Though not everyone supports me, I still have some who do. If I were to propose something, I’m sure some people would listen."
Anson deepened his frown because what Sienna said was true; in those five years, her contributions to the company’s profits were evident, earning her praise even in the board meetings.
If Sienna truly voiced her opinions, it would undoubtedly sway minds, making his path to ascension difficult.
"What exactly do you want?"
"I don’t want much, just an explanation from you." Sienna’s clear laugh, paired with her alluringly bright eyes, almost dazzled Anson.
