CHAPTER 350: CHAPTER 350: DEEP INTO THE ENEMY’S LAIR
"Forget it, if he doesn’t want it, why force him?" Sienna Quinn slowly opened her mouth to say, clearly having thought it through by now.
She had figured it out, but that didn’t mean Chiara Thorne had. Sitting down angrily, she said, "Sienna, you’re just spoiling him like that. It’s because of your endless indulgence that he becomes so reckless with you and bullies people like this. Do you intend to continue being bullied by him forever? It was like this five years ago, and it’s still the same now. Have you really grown at all in these five years?"
The more Chiara spoke, the angrier she became. Their original purpose in coming back to China was to seek justice for Sienna, but what justice had she gained? Instead, Sienna had fallen deeper into the trap.
With Chiara’s words, Sienna stood there dazed. Yes, at this moment, she had forgotten her original intention and the purpose of her return.
"I didn’t position myself correctly, and I won’t be so emotional in the future." Extending a slender hand to wipe away the tears at her eyes, her gaze was, however, unusually determined. The same mistake could not be made twice, and she did not have the chance to repeat it.
"As long as you know the purpose of your return, that’s good. Now, your vengeance is 1/3 complete. Two more families to go, and we’ll have finished." Chiara reminded cautiously from the side. Actually, they had already advised Sienna before they returned to China.
She could have started a new life abroad without pursuing her past grievances, but Sienna had long harbored these grudges, and if she couldn’t resolve them, she could never start a new life.
But since she had returned, she had to fulfill her wish.
"I understand, and I won’t show this side of myself again." Sienna wiped away her tears. Clearly, she had thought it through. If she couldn’t have love, then she would settle her vendetta.
Seeing Sienna’s realization, Chiara finally felt relieved. As long as she could live well, it was better than anything else. Once they had resolved matters here, they could return to France and start afresh.
Her once sorrowful eyes were now filled with determination.
"I’ll start going to the company for work tomorrow."
"Seeing you pull yourself together is better than anything else," Chiara said slowly.
"Don’t worry, I’m fine," Sienna replied calmly and self-assuredly.
Seeing Sienna like this, Chiara finally felt reassured.
"But tomorrow, I plan to first visit the Yates Group."
"Why the Yates Group?" Chiara asked, somewhat puzzled.
Sienna pressed her lips together, always feeling that something was off with Axel Yates. However, she couldn’t quite articulate it. When she asked Landon Lawson, he refused to say anything. There were reasons unknown to her, and she had to investigate, no matter what.
If Landon wouldn’t say anything, then Axel would have to.
Early the next morning.
Sienna went to the Yates Group early in the morning. This time, she went with a purpose. Since Landon wouldn’t say anything, she’d do the investigation herself.
She was certain that she could find what she needed from Axel Yates.
After enquiring about Axel’s schedule from his secretary, she decided to have a good chat with him.
Axel Yates was indeed deliberately avoiding Sienna; he was sulking. He was angry and resentful that Sienna kept pining for Landon and ignored his sincerity. But he didn’t realize that his sentiments had already changed.
After finishing the meeting, Axel returned to his office and saw Sienna sitting on the sofa waiting for him. He frowned slightly, but maintained a smile as he walked over.
"Why are you here? Why didn’t you let me know in advance?" Axel was momentarily stunned upon seeing her, clearly not expecting Sienna to come back.
Sienna stood up, looked at Axel, and smiled, "I can hardly see you these days."
Axel shrugged and apologetically said, "Sorry, I’ve been quite busy lately. Meetings one after another. Look, I just finished a sales meeting."
Sienna didn’t expose him but instead continued with his topic, "No matter how busy work is, you have to take care of your health. Don’t overwork yourself."
Faced with Sienna’s softness, Axel was somewhat unaccustomed. He responded, "Okay, I get it."
Sienna felt a bit sad. She and Axel used to have endless conversations, talking about daily life and work. Who would have thought there would come a day when they would be making awkward small talk like this?
After the atmosphere cooled down, Axel also recalled their last unpleasant event.
He gently cleared his throat and finally spoke, "Sienna, I was wrong that day. I got too emotional, and about that kidnapping that time..."
"It’s okay, I haven’t dwelled on it. You don’t need to apologize; once everything is out in the open, it’s all good," Sienna said softly.
Hearing Sienna’s words, Axel couldn’t hide his excitement. He grasped Sienna’s hand and said, "Sienna, I knew you’d understand me. Thank you."
Sienna’s smile remained, but she slowly withdrew her hand from Axel’s grasp.
"President Yates, for the past incidents, whether yours or mine, let’s leave them behind, shall we?"
"Of course," Axel replied promptly, but internally he wondered about Sienna’s real purpose for coming this time.
"The other day, I thought over what you said, and I think maybe we can still work together. I want to come back to the company to work, perhaps this is where I truly belong."
Sienna said with a radiant smile, the corner of her mouth lifting confidently.
The man paused for a moment, then beamed with a smile.
It was clear that he was delighted by Sienna’s return, after all, she was the woman he liked. As long as she wasn’t with Landon, everything was fine.
"Since you want to come back, you can sit in your previous position."
Having reached an agreement with Axel, Sienna returned to her position.
However, after returning, Sienna discovered something unusual.
"Where is Director Linton? Wasn’t he always responsible for company matters?"
Sienna turned her head to ask Axel.
Axel nodded and said, "Yes, but I have reassigned him to another position now."
Actually, even without Axel explaining, Sienna knew what was up. After all, when Axel wasn’t around, that director had been causing trouble behind the scenes.
Sienna didn’t ask further. When she followed Axel to the office, Danielle Carter was initially stunned to see her.
"President Quinn, why have you returned?"
"Are you not happy to see me?" Sienna said with a friendly smile.
Danielle shook her head with a broad smile, "Of course, I’m glad you’re back. With you here, no matter how big or small the issues arise in the company, I won’t worry. You’re like my steadying presence."
"You little girl are really getting better at talking."
