CHAPTER 37: CHAPTER 37: LET ME COOK FOR YOU

Evan Quinn looked at Sienna Quinn’s wrist, his little brows furrowed together in worry.

Seeing the way he frowned, Sienna instantly had Landon Lawson’s face flash before her eyes.

In her past life, Sienna had loved Landon Lawson for ten years; for ten years, he was her whole life. She knew what he liked to eat, what he liked to do, his tiny habits whether he was aware of them or not, and countless other trivial details—she could vividly recount them all.

Many of Evan’s unconscious little movements were exactly like Landon Lawson’s, which was precisely what worried Sienna.

Sitting in the front driving, Danielle Carter saw Evan’s slightly furrowed brows, tightly pressed little mouth, and worried expression, suddenly feeling that it was very familiar, but for the moment, she couldn’t recall where she had seen it. The confusion was only momentary.

Looking at this mother and son pair, Danielle felt full of envy; to have such a son meant she must have really excellent conditions herself. Unfortunately, such a good woman and child, the father had passed away. Thinking of this, she felt a bit helpless and sighed.

Because Sienna’s hand was injured and she couldn’t cook, nor could she actually let Evan cook for her, "Let’s find somewhere to eat and then go home. Danielle, do you have any good recommendations?"

Danielle thought for a moment and said, "If President Quinn wants to eat Western food, there’s roughly a ten-minute drive from here to what’s considered the best restaurant in town. If President Quinn prefers Chinese cuisine, there’s a well-reputed restaurant five minutes away."

Sienna looked at Evan, "What does Chloe want to eat?"

"Let’s stay nearby. The sooner we finish eating, the sooner you can go home and rest," Chloe said sweetly.

Listening to Evan’s adorable voice saying such heartwarming words, Sienna couldn’t help but break into a smile.

At the same time, Sienna felt fortunate; although Chloe had inherited Landon Lawson’s appearance and intelligence, his personality was thankfully not like his.

"Chloe is truly Mommy’s little sweetheart, so let’s have Chinese cuisine." Saying this, Sienna led Evan to the car first.

On the way to the restaurant, Sienna asked Danielle, "How are Jason and the others doing?"

"I accompanied Landon’s secretary Nolan Shaw to send them off from the hotel. During that time, Jason and the others didn’t ask anything. But..."

Danielle hesitated, looking at Sienna through the rear-view mirror.

"What is it?" Sienna asked.

Danielle considered her words and said, "Nolan asked about you and... Landon..."

As she spoke, Danielle glanced at Evan.

Because Evan was just too smart, Danielle worried that it wouldn’t be good if he overheard certain things, thus she faltered and stopped.

And Sienna, hearing Danielle’s words, didn’t want her to say more in front of Evan, "Alright, I understand."

Danielle nodded and didn’t say more about the matter.

Meanwhile, Evan sat quietly beside Sienna, sometimes looking at the street scenery passing outside the car window, sometimes concernedly glancing at Sienna’s injured wrist, seemingly completely uninterested in what Danielle was saying.

But in reality, Evan inferred from the exchange between Danielle and Sienna that perhaps Sienna’s injury was related to that man somehow.

Due to it not being peak time yet, there weren’t many diners inside the restaurant, and the three of them chose a spot on the first floor to sit.

The waiter brought over the menu, Sienna said, "Danielle, recommend a few dishes to order."

"Do President Quinn and Chloe have any dietary restrictions?" Danielle asked.

"My mom doesn’t like spicy foods, so I don’t either. Also, I don’t like overly sweet things; anything else is fine," Evan quickly responded.

Danielle smiled and said, "Alright," and then ordered several dishes.

The first-floor hall had a large TV screen, probably used for evening performances or regular activities, currently broadcasting the city news.

"Famous actress Vera Yates was embroiled in a nude scandal days ago, causing netizens to doubt it and speculate there might be hidden intentions. Recently, a related film crew revealed Vera Yates had won the Best Actress award but showed no big-shot airs. Once she was burned by an assistant and continued filming despite the pain, deemed a star model. Today, an eyewitness claimed to have seen Vera Yates fighting with a woman in a hotel and getting injured, currently being treated at the central hospital. Vera Yates’s fans are very upset because of this..."

Seeing this news, Danielle couldn’t help but glance at Sienna, evidently indicating that the woman involved in a conflict with Vera Yates in the news was undoubtedly Sienna.

"In just a little while, it’s already in the news. Moreover, it’s just a scrape, needing hospitalization seems an overreaction," Danielle commented.

Although Danielle previously liked Vera Yates a lot, after today’s events, while she didn’t know what exactly happened, she still decided to take Sienna’s side.

Not only because Sienna was her boss but also because after spending time with Sienna these past few days, Danielle learned a lot from her, which made her admire Sienna even more. Thus, she could see that although Sienna seemed hostile to Landon Lawson and Vera Yates, she was unlikely to engage in such petty actions. And even if she did, she’d openly admit it.

"Mom, did that woman bully you again?" Evan suddenly looked up and asked.

"No," Sienna instantly replied.

But Evan was not easily fooled. He ignored Sienna’s denial and continued asking, "Is your injury related to her?"

Sienna felt a bit helpless, paused and explained, "Today, I went to meet a client to discuss business and accidentally hurt my wrist because I drank some alcohol. Don’t overthink it."

Though Sienna utterly loathed Vera Yates, she didn’t want to plant seeds of hatred in Evan’s small heart, so she decided to lie.

Upon hearing this, Evan did not express belief nor continue to pursue the matter. He simply took his chopsticks and picked a slice of beef for Sienna, "Mom, eat more."

Sienna smiled back and responded.

But knowing her child best, Sienna understood Evan hadn’t trusted her explanation, or at least still harbored doubts.

Danielle, sitting nearby, also dared not speak recklessly. Watching this mother and son duo, she reflected that having a child too smart might not always be good.

Ordinary kids can be easily deceived with simple words, but Evan’s searching gaze felt somewhat cold, his little brows furrowed seriously, leaving people hesitant to utter misleading words, fearing they’d be immediately exposed and ridiculed for clumsy excuses.

"Mrs. Carter, you should eat more too; you always work hard. Hope you can help my mom more in the future," Evan suddenly placed a piece of meat on Danielle’s plate, his childlike voice, yet his words maturely courteous.

Hearing Evan’s words, Danielle subconsciously straightened her posture and replied promptly, "Rest assured, I will look after President Quinn."

Yet, upon saying it, she thought it odd, recognizing it wasn’t the usual thing one should say to a child.
