I Have A Solo Mommy Plan, But Daddy Refuses to Let Go
Chapter 41: Arrival of a Powerful Reinforcement
CHAPTER 41: CHAPTER 41: ARRIVAL OF A POWERFUL REINFORCEMENT
A figure stood at the meeting room door, watching the people coming out, and overhearing some of their discussions, a slow smile spread over his face as he rubbed his nose and took a deep breath.
The more she looked at the design proposal Dominic Lowell handed to her, the less satisfied she was. It was extremely conservative and lacked innovation, not at all something a company of the Yates Group’s caliber would produce. It seemed like a plan that was five years behind the market.
"President Quinn, you still need to go to the hospital to change your bandage today," Danielle Carter stood by, softly reminding her, not daring to speak up during the meeting.
Sienna Quinn nodded, handing the car keys to Danielle, "Today the kindergarten ends at half-day, could you help me pick up Chloe?"
"Of course!" Danielle was somewhat flattered. Could President Quinn really have two faces? So strict at work, yet so gentle in life, completely unlike a warrior in the business world, more like a big sister next door.
"But... but your hand, is it okay for you to go to the hospital alone?" Danielle was somewhat worried, as in her current state, she can’t drive, and since she’s going to pick up Chloe, Sienna would have to take a taxi alone.
Sienna smiled and nodded. It was just a small thing; she wasn’t that fragile.
Coming out of the meeting hall, she was reading documents all the way with her injured hand.
"President Quinn, you really are as strict as ever. At this rate, you might never get married," a familiar voice sounded behind her. Sienna turned around sharply, only to see a man dressed in sportswear behind her, smiling like a sunny boy. If no one revealed his age, people would believe he was a university student.
"Sean Carter?" Sienna looked at the man behind her. Since the last time she saw him downstairs at the White Palace Hotel, they hadn’t met again. She thought he had followed Felix Orwell back to France, since he was Felix Orwell’s top aide.
Sean Carter, Felix Orwell’s trusted aide, impeccable in a suit at work, more serious and rigorous than anyone. But in life, the contrast was striking.
Danielle looked stupidly at the man who suddenly appeared, thinking he seemed like an old friend of Sienna’s.
...
"President Quinn, did your strict style come back from France to the domestic scene? Aren’t you afraid that your toughness will scare away men?" Sean Carter said, sitting in a chair in Sienna’s office, glancing around. The office arranged by Axel Yates wasn’t bad; at least, it didn’t treat Sienna poorly.
"You talk too much. How could Felix Orwell bear to let you come back?" Sienna raised her attractive eyebrows. They had known each other since their studies, and after graduation, Sienna entered the Yates Group, while Sean followed Felix Orwell and earned him a lot of money, even surpassing Sienna in capability.
There were very few people Sienna could call a rival, and Sean Carter was one of them.
"President Orwell still cares about you. Because there was a problem with the company in France, Felix and I went back to handle it for a bit. Once it was over, I rushed back immediately."
What Sean didn’t say was that as soon as Felix received Axel Yates’ call, he promptly sent him back, even though the matters in France hadn’t been fully resolved and were quite troublesome.
Felix Orwell didn’t hesitate at all before he let him return.
Sienna was overjoyed to see Sean. She stepped forward and gave him a big hug, "It’s so great you could come."
With him here, half of the success in cooperating with HR Group was assured.
Sean’s gaze gradually moved to Sienna’s hand. He raised an eyebrow, smiling warmly at the woman before him.
"What happened to your hand, getting off the plane back to the country like this? Did someone get rough because you were too strong?" Sean’s thoughts ran wild. He loved to joke, and Sienna was already used to it. Despite the joking, it was clear her old classmate cared about her. The bandage poking from her sleeve was enough for him to figure it out.
"Since you’re here, come with me to the hospital."
Because of Sean Carter, Danielle no longer worried about Sienna going on her own. With Sean around, she felt much more at ease.
Kindergarten.
Teacher Cole and another teacher stood at the door, watching the children playing in the classroom. Both their eyes were fixed on Evan Quinn, showing expressions of disbelief.
"Is he looking at computer programming?"
"Seems like it... I’ve seen that book at a computer science friend’s place, and if I remember correctly, it’s for the second semester of junior year..."
Teacher Cole covered her widened mouth. This little guy had brought them so much surprise since he came to kindergarten. Those kindergarten reading materials? He didn’t even glance at them. Every day he read books that Sienna packed into his backpack.
The professional knowledge was something even they couldn’t understand, but this little child was reading it with great interest.
"I really wonder how amazing his parents must be to have a child like this," the other teacher couldn’t help but exclaim. Thinking of her own son, who cries all day, she felt envious.
Evan Quinn seriously looked at the book in his hands and, feeling bored, placed it on the table.
"So boring, Mommy actually brought the wrong book. I read this three months ago," he murmured in a slightly resentful tone. If Teacher Cole heard this, who knows what she’d think.
Suddenly, a big, red apple appeared on Evan’s desk.
He frowned, his cool demeanor reminiscent of Landon Lawson.
Turning his head, he saw a little girl with a bob haircut beside him, her chubby face adorably plump, her dark eyes full of sparkle, her hands entwined with a hint of shyness.
"I... this apple is from my mom this morning. Can I play with you?" she said, raising her head and smiling timidly.
Evan squinted his eyes, his face expressionless, his indifferent demeanor resembling an adult.
"I don’t like eating apples." His indifferent tone seemed to block others from a thousand miles away, a cold little handsome guy since he was young.
The little girl paused, her big eyes filling with a layer of mist, tears welling up and about to overflow.
Evan furrowed his brows, got up, and walked towards Teacher Cole at the door, "Teacher Cole, when is my mommy coming?"
"She should be here in a while. Don’t you like playing with Chloe? She’s the prettiest and most popular kid in the class." Teacher Cole’s eyes curved with a smile. For kids this age, feelings are pure; they just think you’re pretty, you’re cute, and they want to play with you.
