Chapter 1215: Chapter 1215: Extra Story of the Eel 52

“What are you thinking about?”

Su Man’s voice pulled Lu Yuwen’s thoughts back to the present.

“Thinking about you,” he replied with a smirk.

Su Man: “…”

She glared at him, her face bright red.

He continued unhurriedly, “Thinking about whether you’d prefer beef braised in red wine, or beef roasted with black pepper sauce?”

Su Man clenched and unclenched her fists, forcing herself not to splash the potato-washing water onto his face.

“Stop teasing me,” she hesitated. “It feels… weird.”

… She couldn’t quite describe it—a mix of shyness, irritation, awkwardness, and a hint of happiness. It was strange, complex, and hard to define.

If another man teased her in this way, she’d probably brush it off with an eye roll or, in worse cases, throw a punch. But since it was Lu Yuwen…

Hmm, well, it just felt… weird.

Lu Yuwen, on the other hand, appeared completely at ease, as if it were just casual banter between friends. He grinned and said, “Okay, next time I’ll speed it up and try not to stammer.”

Su Man burst into laughter, and the faint sense of awkwardness between them dissolved effortlessly.

She chuckled, “You’re doing this on purpose, just to make me uncomfortable.”

“It’s because you’re cute.” Lu Yuwen laughed as well.

That comment was also mildly flirtatious, but thanks to their earlier exchange, Su Man felt a little more at ease this time.

Getting used to his way of speaking, she even started questioning if she might be overreacting.

Come to think of it… no guy had ever spoken to her like this before. No wonder she found it unsettling.

By now, most of the ingredients were prepped. Lu Yuwen focused on cooking and stopped teasing Su Man.

He had already gained plenty today.

Over dinner, the two shared a harmonious atmosphere.

The long dining table held four dishes and a soup. With vibrant reds and greens perfectly arranged, the meal looked incredibly appetizing.

Su Man couldn’t quite label it as Chinese or Western cuisine—it blended Western herbs and plating with Chinese stir-fry techniques. All she knew was that it was delicious.

She ate with great focus, preparing herself to provide constructive feedback if Lu Yuwen asked.

Lu Yuwen suddenly asked, “Have you been in touch with Li Li lately?”

Su Man froze for a moment.

That question wasn’t quite what she’d expected—she thought he’d ask about the food instead.

Seeing her blank expression, Lu Yuwen laughed, “What, you forgot? I mentioned before: we should test his reaction. Once his feelings are clear, you’ll know how to handle your relationship with him.”

Su Man’s lips quirked into the faintest pout.

Honestly, she’d forgotten all about it. Test his reaction? Clarify his feelings? Looking back, it seemed completely unnecessary, because Li Li was just… an idiot.

“Judging by your expression, the two of you must’ve had an argument,” Lu Yuwen remarked with an easy smile.

Su Man didn’t give him a direct answer. She absentmindedly poked at the food on her plate with her fork and muttered in frustration, “I don’t know what’s gotten into him lately. His mouth is getting filthier by the day. Everything he says is so awful.”

“Oh, is it because of me?” Lu Yuwen asked.

Su Man paused her movements. Thinking about it, it really did have something to do with Lu Yuwen… Li Li had called her stupid and accused her of being lovestruck, mostly because he thought Lu Yuwen had bad intentions.

But no matter how justified his concerns were, his words had been overly harsh.

If she didn’t know him for so many years, she would’ve punched him by now…

“Seems like I’m triggering his sense of crisis,” Lu Yuwen mused leisurely as he continued eating. “His next move will likely be to ask you out. My advice? Don’t respond too quickly. That way, he’ll learn to take you more seriously in the future.”

“He’d never ask me out,” Su Man retorted with a pout. “He’s as arrogant as a peacock—he’s never lowered his head to anyone before.”

Saying this, something suddenly occurred to her, and her expression froze.

“What’s wrong?” Lu Yuwen asked, concerned.

Su Man slowly looked at him and, in an incredulous tone, said, “Although he didn’t ask me out, Wu Xinghai called me. He said he’s hosting a gathering and invited me to join.”
